Most Helpful Positive Review So good I bought three!
I absolutely love this curling iron. I've been using the 1" for about four months, just added the 1 1/4", and gave one to my niece (who also loves it). The irons heat in an instant, have a very long cord that swivels, and grip the hair very well. I have shoulder length hair that's basically straight. The 1 1/4" iron makes large, loose "curls" that blend together and look like a lot of body, not like defined curls. They 1" makes more defined curls that start as large ringlets that I finger-comb into looser curls. I started with the 1" because I was concerned the larger iron would be too big for my hair length and the curls would fall out since my hair usually doesn't hold a curl. But with Frederic Fekkai styling products and this curling iron, my hair holds the curl all day. This iron is very efficient (cutting down on styling time) because the grip is so good and it gets hot enough that every use is effective. So no do-overs. A word of CAUTION: this iron has the potential to get DANGEROUSLY HOT. The heat settings go up to 10. I keep it at 3 1/2 (medium), which is very hot. When I gave this iron to my 16-year-old niece, I advised her to start at 3 and increase the heat if necessary.
Most Helpful Critical Review I expected more
I originally purchased this product in 2014. I had decided to upgrade and pay a bit more money. I wanted something better than the Conair I had for 2 years that had finally stopped working. I looked around and the staff at Ulta recommended Hot Tools. I loved how it curled, how quicky it heated up, and how easy it was to use. I was happy I spent the extra money. Then after three months of use it just suddenly stopped working. It would heat up all. I had thrown out the receipt. I went back to Ulta they were able to give me partial credit for a new one. I thought ok, it's just a fluke. So I bought the same 2" barrel hot tool curling iron. Again, I loved it! This time I kept the box (just in case). Now, here we are almost one year later but, not quite one year yet, the clamp stops working. Not even 1 year!! Of course, I had moved from MI to SC then from an Apt into a house... I no longer have the box or the receipt. So I'm out of luck. I had my conair curling iron for 2 years and paid half the price. This one I had to replace twice within a year and a half. I'm disappointed in the product. I've attached a picture of the problem. (The ring should stay in the center so it rolls. I would fix it occasionally but, occasionally turned into every other curl.)

I have only ever used hot tools as their irons are usually great but this one wouldn't even hold a curl for 10 minutes when the old curling iron I had, my curls would stay 1-2 days without hair spray. I'm really disappointed because I thought I was still going to love it!
There are some pros! It gets really hot and the clamp is super tight! Other than that, I wished it worked.
Holds your waves/ curls well!

I've used hot tools curlers for years and have always had good luck with them!
best budget iron!? yes.
cat-noir from US
i bought this iron on sale 6 years ago, and it died today. like hard stop. it worked as intended until it's final moment, which is why i love this iron!! ~ if your hair isn't curling, or holding a curl, that's on your hair, not the iron. please don't cook your hair to a crispy potato!! seek a professional to help assist you in finding what works best for your individual hair!
I would but this product again

I had used my previous Helen of Troy curling iron for over 10 years, and when I recently broke the end off the old one, I knew I had to find an identical one. Hot Tools is sold by Helen of Troy and I knew this was the one.
Worth every penny

I bought a T3 for more than double the price of this. Same barrel size and the Hot Tools blows the T3 out of the water. I am so mad I spent so much money on the T3 when I've used hot tools before and loved it. This curling iron holds a curl and I actually love the whole design better, the cord swivels way better, the clamp handle feels nicer when using. Worth every penny and then some.
This product worked great! I would bug more of them.
Kari from Albuquerque
It curls super fast the curl stays and it's also very quick at getting up!! I can't wait to try it on myself once I get ready to go out. It is also very easy to handle and to fits any where I put it at. I really did do a great job on picking this curling iron..
Love this brand

I bought the 3/4" barrel curling iron and I love it! Heats up quickly and holds curl all day. I have naturally curly hair and this is better than flat ironing my hair!
Briana from Littleton, CO
it's worth every penny! i have long thick hair and usually my curls fall within an hour or two but my hair stays all day and leaves it in beautiful curls/waves! i highly recommend it! i've gifted this curling iron so many times and they always fall in love with it as well!

I purchased this product because it was a smaller size than my current curling iron. I read reviews online and chose this based on good reviews. I am definitely pleased with the product! The curling iron curled my hair beautifully while not even on the hottest setting. I have medium length, thick hair and I created nice wavy curls that lasted three days! Great product, would definitely recommend!
Love hot tools

Perfect Styling Tool for Short Fine Hair!
Mimi from Alexandria, VA
I wanted to change my hairstyle to tousled curls, but I was hesitant because of the texture and length of my hair. I chose this one because it has a thin diameter, variable heat settings, a tip that remains coolo, and an easy to use thumb grip to release the curls. After I started styling my hair with it, I received multiple compliments, which until now had been a rare occurrence for me.
Genuinely Love It
KM20 from NYC
Okay so I used to suck at doing my hair, always struggled with my curls dropping BUT after a lot of trial and error+ finding the right products and using this iron, my curls look amazing. I always get compliments on how bouncy & effortless my curls look whenever I use it (I bought the 1 1/4 inch barrel). If you're finding your curls aren't staying I highly doubt it's because of the iron, maybe switch up your products or make sure you're curling your hair correctly cause honestly this iron is salon quality
Does not curl

I just cannot get a curl using this curling iron, even at the hottest setting.
jurodgo from VA
This curling iron is perfect for mid to long hair and makes beautiful curls or waves with minumum effort. I actually purchased it after an epic failure using the Dyson airwrap, I tried several times and it didn't work for me. Thus, I went back to basic and got this hot tool instead.
Great styling tool..

This is a fairly recent purchase and so far, it has been great. It's very easy to handle. I looked at several brands initially and decided on this one. I haven't been sorry. It's my first Hot Tools brand iron.

Doesn't curl like I would like but ok… Wish it had automatic shut off .

Doesn't curl like I like. But ok . Which it automatically shut off.
Curls fall flat within a couple hours
Ki from Denver
I have fine, thin hair; but even with plenty of product these curls wouldn't stay. I will probably try a smaller barrel. The curler itself is decent quality and worked well enough for the price.
Exactly what I was looking for!

I'm very satisfied with this curling iron. It has a temperature control and swivel cord plus I was able to use my 20%off coupon on the purchase!
So in love

Perfect for the perfect curl
kayzfam from Spokane WA
Sadly your grip can turn off the iron completely, and when you notice that your hair isn't curling, you realize that your grip also turned the temp all the way down. Constant checking to make sure it's on, or the temp hasn't changed. Annoying. It does work when it's on!
Good curling iron
Maddie from Indiana
I have only had this curling iron for a few weeks, but so far it is working great. Very easy to use and creates beautiful curls. It does not have an automatic shut-off feature which is a downside. I have long, thinner hair and this curling iron has not been damaging. I just keep the heat setting lower and my curls will hold for a full day.
Doesn't work after 1 year of occasional use
BEACHROBIN from Texas
Unfortunately after about a year of occasional use this expensive piece of junk doest work any more. Have 1 1/4 " barrel and it stopped working all together. No light no heat. Tried on multiple outlets. Will never buy this brand again. Had Inexpensive Conairs last wayyyyyy longer than this garbage. Sick that I paid this much!!!!
RVG from Philadelphia
I don't know how this has so many great reviews. Used it for the first time and even on the highest setting my hair would not curl or hold a curl with this. Will be returning.
