Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

I have fine, thick, wavy long hair. Dryer is attractive, light, reduces frizz and narrow handle is great for my small hands. High volume dries hair quickly. Love the diffuser. Con-I flip head upside down to dry underneath hair. The diffuser extends length of dryer enough that I don't have the arm length to hold by the handle. Have to hold body of dryer near diffuser. Someone taller with long arms won't have this issue. Also, the medium heat feels like high heat & painful if drying roots. Have to use cool heat which takes longer.

Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

I bought this Dryer after Christmas with a gift card I had received. In the middle of Jan. 2018 I was blow drying my hair and it just stopped working. Just all of a sudden, needless to say I had to finish drying my hair with my daughter's dryer. Considering the high price I paid for this it didn't even last a month. I'm a very frustrated customer.

Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

This is one of the best blow dryers I've used. My last hot tools blow dryer starting giving out on me, so I was going to switch brands, but decided to give them another try after reading these reviews. So glad I did. I have 4B color treated hair. This cut my drying time down to about half, could have been less if I would have properly de-tangled beforehand. Very lightweight which is huge! It left my hair very soft and shiny. The comb pik is everything! It's ceramic unlike some of the other plastic hot tools attachments. It makes a huge difference. It doesn't snag your hair like the plastic ones. I would definitely recommend, especially for naturals!

Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

Had the product for about a year and some change. I only use it minimlly to avoid heat on my hair. MID DRYING ONE NIGHT BEFORE GOING OUT WITH A FRIEND IT COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. I didn't drop it or get it wet or anything harmful. There was no link to clean off since I rarely use it. I kept it safely given the high price I payed. So I had to salvage what was left of wet hair 15 minutes before I had to leave. Complete nightmare. WILL NEVER BUY ANY OF THEIR PRODUCTS AGAIN.

Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

I am more of a minimalist in beauty and maintainance. I don't want to spend a lot of time in make ready. I love using this dryer with the diffuser because I can dry my hair, keep and enhance my beautiful waves, and not have frizzy hair--and I get great compliments on my hair. The "cool shot" button really helps to lock in the curls/waves and the body, and the body holds up for days. This dryer is easy to use, has three heat settings, and as I said, the "cool shot" helps lock in the style.

Does the devacurl diffuser work on this dryer?

                A:

If the devacurl diffuser is a universal diffuser it should fit. You might want to take it in with you to Ulta when you make your purchase to see if it fits.

            • Q:

I bought one of these a couple years ago and love it, but have broken a few fingers off the diffuser so was going to purchase another. BUT it now appears not to include the diffuser! Does Hot Tools sell a replacement diffuser for this dryer? It bites that suddenly you have to buy a diffuser separately, but us Curly Girls are apparently out of fashion again....grrr

              Thanks!

            • Q:

What is the difference between ceramic and ionic drying . What is better, does it depend on hair type? I'm looking for a dryer with good heat but not so much air flow. It seems I find the opposite. They blow my hair too hard and I can't get it into the brush without tangling but they don't get hot enough to make my wavey hair curl and stay curled or even give it a nice bend it just gets blown stright and flat even on the lower air setting. What wattage should I buy? FYI I love a retractable cord.
Asked on 4/23/2016 by Joy from Glendale Heights Il.

              1 answer

              • Staff Expert

                A:

You won't find a retractable cord in a Professional dryer, but there are ones with that at Ulta. Wattage is not an indicator of power. It really will indicate how quickly the dryer heats up, how loud it will be, and lastly how much energy it uses. The best indicator is trying a dryer out in an Ulta Beauty store on the plug and play wall.
The Tourmaline Ionic Dryer is Hot Tools' bestselling and one of their best performing dryers because it has two sources of negative ions which help dry the hair faster. One from an ion generator and the other when the tourmaline inside the dryer heats up. Ceramic dryers just mean that the air is passing through a ceramic grill before it gets to the hair, so it's a gentler way of imparting heat.
If you want your hair to continue to be wavy after you blow dry, then consider using a dryer with a diffuser. Set on high heat, low speed and you'll get the look you're seeking. Hope this helps! :-)
