Most Helpful Positive Review New Fave I LOVE this! I don't like super light coverage, nor do I look full coverage and this is a good in between without the drying effects of a normal foundation. It makes my skin look like SKIN with a dewy glow that does not get shiny, even without powder or primer. The ONLY downside is it does not sit well on the textured areas of my skin, but most products don't. That's the only reason I won't give 5 stars. There seems to be a small amount of product for the price, which is another downfall, but it does blend well and I can spread it over the face, so hopefully it will last a while.
Most Helpful Critical Review please please don't waste your money I rarely write reviews, and if I do, it's about how good a product is, but this is the first time I felt I had to write a negative review. This is literally just wax with no hydrating or coverage benefits. I at least expected the product to match its advertised key points. "sheer-to-medium coverage with a natural sheen." is how it is described. This doesn't have a sheen unless you count an oily t-zone. It's streaky and super hard to use, both with a brush and with fingers. Then with the horrendous shade range - don't even get me started. I am very fair and the lightest color is so dark, but then the deeper shades are just embarrassingly non inclusive. If you are looking for a sheen with sheer coverage do NOT look here. And to Stila directly: having a light coverage skin product is not an excuse to have only eight shades. This is 2021. Match Fenty's standards and do better.
My recommendations that ACTUALLY match the Stila Skin Balm description would be:
Higher prices - Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint, Kosas Tinted Face Oil
Medium prices - Morphe 2 Hint Hint Skin Tint, Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint
Low prices for my babes ballin on a budget - NYX Bare With Me Skin Veil

If you're looking for something dewy, with light coverage this just doesn't hit the marks. Between the price point and the lackluster performance of this product it's not worth it. The product itself is thick to pick up on a sponge or brush and feels the same when applied to the face, similar to smearing vaseline on your skin--more greasy than hydrating. In addition, the coverage is low, even for a "light coverage" product, bordering on non-existent. I will be returning it.
Sticky with a chance of meh coverage 2

This product took a good bit of work to get on the skin. It was very waxy feeling and oily finish. Didn't feel like a tinted moisturizer at all. Broke up on the face where texture was.

Am I Missing Something??? 1

I don't understand this product at all. It's basically a clear primer in a compact, it has ZERO coverage. It's like putting a clear film all over my face. I was expecting at least a light coverage but this has nothing. Please don't waste your money!
Its a skin balm 4

Pretty interesting. Feels like you are applying a balm on your face. You have to wait for it to set. The finish looks beautiful once it sets. I enjoyed using this product. Very light coverage. Mostly will only even out skin. I've been looking for something that wasn't a foundation and this is pretty nice. Just wish it came on a pump or something. I dont really like the packaging because it gets dirty really easy and the price point is a little steep for me.

This product is okay... but I had to return it as the color was too light. The shade range offered could definitely be improved. Honestly, I think there are several other products that are similar to this, that work just as well, and are a better price.
Trust the negative reviews 1

I ordered this item before any reviews had been posted, but I've always considered Stila a decent brand so I wasn't too concerned. I started seeing negative reviews before the item arrived, but I tried to not let them affect my first impression of the product. After many failed attempts to get this product to work, I can confidently say that the negative reviews are correct. This product is extremely difficult to apply. I've tried using 3 different types of brushes, a beauty blender, and my fingers, but the product always applies uneven and streaky. There is nothing moisturizing about it. It doesn't have near the amount of coverage to justify how cakey it feels on the skin. The only positive thing I can say about it is that the shade I purchased does seem to match my skin fairly well, but I imagine that is pretty rare considering the product is only offered in a small handful of shades

WOW. This product immediately caught my eye on the new releases. It blended beautifully and gave surprisingly good coverage. I was a little disappointed with the amount of product in the pan as compared to the price but hopefully it'll go a long way? I felt like my skin had that lit from within look without being oily at ALL. Typically my foundations and setting powder will still give me some shine after a few hours. I was disappointed with the way it looked on the textured areas on my skin, but not too bad. I'll try some different techniques. It was tacky for a little while but dried down beautifully!

and it's a perfect match.i love the coverage and the feel of this balm on my face.
I am normal to dry..
I seen another comment that said it felt like wax on her face..I certainly didn't get that feeling.but I don't apply it heavy either.

The balmy part of this does feel really nice on the skin, but I can already tell it isn't going to last long. I have to use a lot to get the effect I was expecting, but at the same time, it's easy to break out if too much is used. I'll use it, but I definitely wouldn't pay over $30 for it again.

I was super excited about this and having another tinted moisturizer option that could be applied with a brush. It was all wrong though. Horrible application, consistency and color. I immediately returned it after one use.

This product is honestly a disaster... the first thing and the most disappointing is the shade range. ON COME STILA it's 2021 let's have a shade range that matches and fits all the beautiful colors that make up the world. 8 Shades- 8 SHADES. Didn't Fenty Beauty release like 50+ shades and that wasn't even an established company, so maybe your New Years Resolution should be to actually have products and shades that match all the beautiful people that want to wear your products
Wow! 5

Color match is spot on for me. It's lightweight and easy to blend. Lasts a long time for a tinted moisturizer! I love how it makes my skin feel (I've mostly dry/normal skin) also has some pretty decent coverage. Covers what I need but lets my freckles shine! Would recommend!
Great for Light Coverage 5
AdrianInNYC from NYC
I was intrigued by this and purchased it along with the brush immediately. I typically go for a light to medium coverage and have combo skin. This is a very emollient balm and reminds me of their convertible color lip/cheek formulation. Using with the recommended brush, it sat beautifully over my moisturizer and melded with my skin, giving me some dew but not greasy at all. Did not settle into any of my pores or lines... both things that I have a bit of. I also think the shades are covering many different tones since it's light coverage. I used #2 and I typically wear a fair/light neutral. I still think they need to do a better job explaining the product and shades online, because no one will be able to know how to use this and how good it is!

I hate it, not moisturizing and the shade is 76% darker than it looks on the site and in real life

There is nothing moisturizing about this. It almost feels like a heavy wax on my skin.
