This is an update to my previous Review. I figured out that on the brush end you must remove that tip to find the sharpener to sharpen the pomade's tip. The downside to using the sharpener is that the pomade would be wasted. My solution to this is to put the excess wasted pomade after you sharpen the tip is to put this on a spoolie then brush that on to your brows.
I had to touch up my brows when I did not use a concealer to highlight my brows. Also, it is NOT WATERPROOF EITHER. Other than that this is STILL a great brow investment.
I can't believe that this product has any good reviews. I have maybe 20 different brow pencils, from waxy, to creamy, to dry formulas; with fine tips, blunt tips, and triangle-tips; drugstore to high end. They are all different, some just okay, but I've never tried one that was virtually unusable before. This product is so bad it's almost impressive. It is by far the worst thing in my entire makeup collection. I liked the tone when I swatched it. The medium shade is not too warm, which is nice. It also drew a fairly fine line on my hand and seemed to allow variations in pressure. Applied to the brows, however, it's a total disaster. It clumps immediately on skin or on hair. It basically just "sticks" in patches. There's no spoolie, just a torturous spikey plastic thing, so you can't really brush it out easily. Using my other spoolie just gunked it up with this hideous product. If you try to use a really light hand, the product just grabs onto hairs, then crumbles away onto your skin/browbone and looks like you have coffee grain eyebrow dandruff. Not a good look at all. Press harder and you get sharpie brows. I don't get this product. Maybe if you melt it down and apply it with a brow brush like a pomade. Pomade in pencil form was not a good move from Essence.

I use the blonde because I have blonde hair and fair complexion. The color is perfect, not too orange, glides on easily and stays all day.

i bought this because it was cheap but had really good reviews. it goes on smoothly, looks natural, and stays all day. i don't usually fill in my brows, but i use this occasionally to fill in sparse areas or places that need more definition. however, the color "dark brown" is just a tad bit too light for my brows, but it's not noticeable. i'd say it's totally worth the money

I am so happy I tried this! This is my new go to eyebrow pomade! The color brown is spot on for me! It's such a natural look I'm loving this! It goes on smoothly and I love the brush ton the end. My eyebrows are really sparse from a thyroid condition and I have spent a lot of eyebrow products. Anastasia Bev. Hills pomade was what I used to use. But I'm so happy I found this if you have med brown hair the match is perfect! Thanks Ulta

I love the little tool to rub out the lines from the pencil, and it was super cheap and it works great!

I've used several eyebrow pencils over the years, and I'm in love with this one! The brown color is a neutral color and has great lasting power! It also applies so effortlessly. And the price!!! So so cheap! I'm going back to buy more to have on standby!

So smooth and stays on all day

It's easy to apply, does not look drawn in looks natural.

Even though it is cheap, it isn't worth buying. The tip is too thick + you can't get it pointed again. Tt doesn't look good. It is hard to gain control over it & it kind of slides around. I am definitely willing to try the microbrow pencil though.

I love how natural the brown is and how nicely it fills in. And it definitely does do its job of staying in place. I would give it that 5th star for sure, I just wish it had a regular eyebrow brush at the end rather than the silicone one it provides. Maybe I just haven't figured out how to utilize it yet. And the PRICE! Love it

I've used this pencil for well over a year and love it. The downside overall is the store either doesn't have any or they have only one in stock which is a bummer because Id rather buy more at once..

The color is an exact match to my eyebrows the only thing I dont like is that the color comes off if you go back and try to add more. It is also very waxy and clumpy.

I have paid over $30 for eyebrow pencils and this one is better than ALL of them and I'm picky! I only got this because I fell in love with the mascara my daughter gave me...so if that is great lets try the eyebrow pencil.

I have natural brows that I shape and fill. The product clumps on certain parts of the natural hair. When attempting to blend, the rubber blender grabs little bits of the product and rolls it. I wind up with little dots of product throughout my brow with nothing looking even or good.

It's so smooth and blendable. I've been looking for a product like this for a while!

I cannot say anything negative about this pencil at a great price and amazing quality you can definitely compete to the brand name out there. Love it

I love the blonde shade, it's not warm or too dark like many are. It's actually blonde. It stays put all day, I just swam in the ocean for an hour and it looks like it did when I applied it this morning. It's also easier to apply than the waterproof pomades that require a brush and it's portable should you need to ever touch up.

just like multiple other comments, my experince with this pencil wasnt great. i prefer a more creamy texture and this one was chalky and really hard to spread with a brush, because i had to apply too much of it to get the needed coverage, the color also ended up being too dark and just looking wrong. Essence has a cheaper option, that pencil needs a sharpner, but the texture is certainly better and helps you achive natural looking brows without too much effort.

I have been using this one for about 2 years and I can honestly say I love it. the first week I was iffy but once I learned how to work with it I loved it. whether it being with primer, just brows, full face. from a makeup artist myself, I can say that it is amazing. I have thick hairy brows so I use it just to kinda fill them in a bit but the waxiness make its waterproof, it does not smear, easy to blend, and you just need to learn how to use it. my mom who lost her eyebrows due to cancer used it and it's amazing. no fall out or clumpy balls like I've read, I tried to understand it so I messed with it and it happens if you use it roughly or keep overlapping the makeup but over all amazing.

This product is for non fussy nice brows. The colors are crazy natural looking. I use blonde for my light brown hair and even if I was darker brown BLONDE LOOKS GREAT IF YOU AREN'T INTO THE CATERPILLAR BROW.
Swipe on half hazard, comb with spooly (not included), looks perfect, stays nicely and no caterpillar here folks.
This is not for precise hair like strokes. This is for a real woman's life with things to do 😆and quick, while still looking chic. Do not discontinue. I will 😢

This pencil is my new favorite!!! It's wayyy better than most of the expensive brow pencils/powders. I'm ordering 2 more now.

I've been using Anastasia micro brow pencil, and I've tried many other brands. This goes on so smooth & stays on better for a fraction of the price of other products. If you want a sharper tip, it comes with a tiny sharpener and a blender on the end.
