Most Helpful Positive Review Feels great!
This NEWLY FORMULATED SPF formula for face is really wonderful for everyday wear. I used to use the original formula too, however it was too heavy, pilled under the fingers working it into the skin (because we have to do that with Zinc!), and it was a bit sticky and more whitening than the current formula. I tried to make it work, but after one bottle I had to move on to something else. When Zinc pills, it doesn't create an even barrier of protection. When I saw this new bottle and formula, I looked at the INCI and immediately could tell this would be a much more sheer and spreadable lotion texture, and it is! I am on my second bottle! I really enjoy too how sheer the zinc is, with just a slight amount of white cast that just evens the skintone a bit. It blends in so well and quickly too, with no pilling over my skincare or under makeup, and it stays put without separating through the day. This doesn't congest my skin or cause cysts for me either, and doesn't feed my fungal-based acne. Not to say it won't be a problem for anyone else. I find the scent very mild, fragrance free; just how I prefer my skincare. The ingredients are great and have no potentially irritating or problematic ingredients like essential oils, plant oils, or fragrance. The extracts in this are also well tolerated. ALSO! Per Derma E, their Baby SPF formula is the exact same with the addition of Chamomile and Calendula extracts, which could be potentially irritating to sensitive or compromised skin, but this formula is great for body too and can be used for the Face too and it is in a 4oz bottle! I have been using this from May 2017 through current (August) and my face has not burned or tanned at all. The packing of this bottle is also very cute and more aesthetically pleasing than the original!

I decided to give this sunscreen a try after seeing they updated the formula due to comments of pilling/balling on the face. Immediately after applying the sunscreen, the white cast is extremely noticeable. I had family members ask me if I was sick because of how pale I looked. I understand to a certain degree that whitecast is a tradeoff with mineral sunscreen (I refuse to purchase chemical sunscreen due to its environmentally damaging ingredients) but this whitecast was astronomically worse than any other mineral sunscreen I have used.
Naturally, I tried to rub in the sunscreen to make me look less ghostly and any hope of sun protection balled up on my face and pilled into my hands. The formula obviously has not been improved because it balls up anytime you touch your face.
Additionally, the applicator easily gets caked up with sunscreen de to the viscosity of the product (although the packaging is nice to look at and a good size to carry around). Do not purchase!!!

It leaves a white cast on face, and when you try and blend it balls up. Also, if you try to apply makeup on top of it even after waiting a long time for it to absorb it just becomes a huge mess. Love my other derma e products but this sunscreen didn't do it for me.
Not a fan.

This product does not sink into the skin, it pills and balls up. It doesn't work well with other products. I have olive toned medium to light skin and It has a prominent white cast on me.

I have used Derma-E's sun protection products in the past and loved them but this one is awful. It has a wonderful texture to begin with but does not rub in and leaves a white coating on my skin. The more I try to rub it in, the more it balls up. I have called customer service twice to speak with someone and have left voice messages but no one has returned my calls. I would like to return this product if possible.
horrible white cast

pretty much like rubbing white paint on your face

So disappointed in this product. I have bought it a few yrs ago and it worked great. This summers purchase is completely unusable. It actually beads into little white flakes all over your skin when you try to rub it onto your face. Tried on my arms and it does the same thing:(
Won't be buying this again sadly.
okay but hard to rub in

Pilling/ white cast
Alij from Granger,IN
After a few uses, the product constantly pills, blends kind of but leaves a pretty significant white cast (I'm like a medium/light toned skin) I notice Somewhat less pilling if I have very little mostiruzer on my face. I did use quick rub with a towel to make the pilling less noticeable. Will only be using this for yard work and athletic activities. It is a nightmare with makeup. On the plus, it isn't scented and doesn't sting my eyes when combined with sweat like my neutrogena clear face sunscreen does. I heard maybe they reformulated it? I purchased mine about 2 months ago, so not sure if mine is older or newer..
I don't like it

It doesn't look good and the texture is sticky and hard to apply evenly. I bought it once with a different tube and it was better, also the baby sunblock is good, I use it on my eyelids and doesnt burn my eyes. I wont buy it again. I need clear zink without the white chalky film this sunscreen leaves on my face!

Okay sunscreen, made my skin break out more
do not buy!

Super thick consistency and left a white cast! When trying to blend in, it started to pill! Do not buy, there are much better sunscreens out there.
I like it!

It works well but I would probably look for a different one that has less white cast

Works as a sunblock, but leaves a significant white cast. I thought it would wear off throughout the day, but it didn't. Will be returning.
Might try again

Product clumps up, maybe there was something wrong with the bottle I bought.
White cast and pilling
Cait from Toronto, Canada
I have to agree with most of the comments here. Unless I apply this RIGHT after my moisturizing or mix it in the moisturizer, it leaves such a thick white cast and when you rub it in it begins to pill and crumble and there is no going back.... very disappointed. I will recommence my hunt for safe sunscreen...

It didn't absorbed
Does the job.

I really like this sunscreen because of its zinc oxide percentage. The downside is that it does leave a white cast and it starts to break away easily. I have to put it right after my moisturizer or mix it somewhat so it can apply smoothie. I think if there is an improved version of this sunscreen, I will buy another one.

Upon applying it is a pasty white that clumps up when you try and rub it in. Does not do the job.
Bad sunscreen, nice customer service

Unfortunately this sunscreen DID NOT work for me and husband. It leaves a weird white colour on the skin that does not go away with time. We looked like a couple of ghosts wandering the park. The texture wasn't great either because it started to "peel off" once I tried to blend the "whiteness" on my face. No wonder it also did not work with makeup on top. It's a shame because it does have positive things about it, like the fact that it doesn't have a strong scent, and it's easy to apply, feels light and not greasy. Another positive aspect is that I wrote to customer service about my dissatisfaction and they were speedy to reply, very attentive and helpful. I have other products from Derma E which are great, so I know this sunscreen does not represent the best of this company.

It appears Derma-E has changed their formula on this product. Now, it leaves a white cast that becomes chalky. Not only does it leave my light olive skin weirdly pale, I can't simply reapply when I need to, I have to wash my face first to remove the crusty chalk. The prior formula didn't do this. I will still use it on my daily morning walks ( I dislike waste) but I can no longer confidently use it under makeup or any time I'm with others.
I love Derma-e. I'm so disappointed they've changed this product and the tinted 30 sfp moisturizer.

It's light on your face.
Does well under makeup!

I massage it in until the white cast is gone and it hasn't clogged my pores or disrupted my makeup at all. I am curious to know if the white cast blends away on darker skin tones.

The pilling is real
Alcott from Canada
I noticed the old bottles were marked down, so I thought the product was being reformulated due to the excessive pilling people have reported. But it looks like it's just new packaging. I don't understand how anyone can use this - it seems to protect all right, but I don't really trust it as it just doesn't stay on my face. I tried putting it on fast, slow, on top of clean dry skin, on top of oilier skin, on top of moisturizer, rubbing it in, patting it on..everything. No matter how long I leave it to set, as soon as I touch my face, off it rolls. Putting makeup on top is impossible. I think it's not so bad on other parts of my body. But there's no point in using it that way - buy the body version in a bigger tube for that purpose. I use the body version on my face and it doesn't pill, but I wish it were more matte.
