Anastasia does it again!

By J*Blue63

Comments about Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Eyeshadow Palette:

I have ABH Mario, Modern Ren, Soft Glam, and Prism Palettes along with some singles. When I saw and read the bad reviews I almost passed on Subculture. But after I saw it in person it looked good to me and bought it. The quality seems like other ABH palettes. Highly pigmented and soft. Looks last all day. Prime and dust the lids for smooth blending. Start with a very light hand and build. In a sea of boring neutral palettes I have made some different looks that are really very pretty. The colors look like Autumn to me but I wear it whenever and absolutely love it. If you are an ABH fan it is a great addition!

Comments about Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Eyeshadow Palette:

Very pigmented and beautiful colors. I honestly don't know how this palette got so much hate. Yes there is some fallout in the pan but it's a great palette oversell I say ignore the bad reviews and go for it if you have been eyeing this palette for awhile:)

Definitely not a beginner palette

By Ness

Comments about Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Eyeshadow Palette:

I waited a while to purchase this palette because the reviews were all over the place. It has a huge color payoff and it is very pigmented. However, you have to be very gentle when applying the color to your brush. Just a light tap onto the palette is enough to get the color. It is easily blended, but again, you have to do it very gently.

Comments about Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Eyeshadow Palette:

I ALMOST didn't buy this, but there were a couple of shades that I loved.
Most of what I had hear is true. Fallout everywhere, super un-blendable, colors looked muddy when layered, etc. They are highly pigmented so I do get a stain on my lids, but it at least makes it look like the shadow hasn't fallen off, flaked or creased as much. the colors are beautiful, and it does swatch well, so it's got that going for it. I have learned to use this palette as a companion instead of a whole look palette.

HIGHLY PIGMENTED - Feather Touch a Must!!

    By DeVal

    from Southwest in New Mexico

Comments about Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Eyeshadow Palette:

I read a ton of reviews and watched many tutorials on this! This is not a palette for someone who has a heavy hand when swiping the brush over these gorgeous & unique colors. I have a set of Jane Iredale brushes & a set of Artis brushes. I barely touch the brush to the color and I get amazing color payoff. It takes a little time to blend but the results are worth it. I imagine All of my brushes are feathers and require the lightest touch to pick up color. You cannot swipe or swirl your brush in this palette or you'll end up with a ton of fallout and will hit pan very quickly. I'm not a makeup artist but I aspire to be one and freelance. I'm getting ready to buy my second palette of Subculture so that I'll have a backup in case, god forbid, it's ever discontinued. That is how much I love this Amazingly pigmented palette. All Star, New Wave, Rowdy and Adorn are the colors I've used most but I've already created looks with Axis, Edge, Mercury & Electric. A must have in every Aspiring Makeup Artist collection. I do not Regret this purchase & highly recommend it. The colors are Unique, highly pigmented, and blend beautifully when applied with a lighter touch. Again I cannot stress enough that you barely have to touch your brush to this palette with an ultra light touch. Swirling and swiping with a heavy hand causes fallout! Hope this honest review helps.

Comments about Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Eyeshadow Palette:

So I love ABH products, but this one is still kind of iffy. I bought this months after the initial release hoping these pigments would've been packed in the pans better than the first go round. It doesn't seem like they've changed the formula at all, and the fallout is still super crazy on some of the shades. Because of that fallout-y texture, some of the shades apply very patchy, and are hard to blend at the edges. It also places way too much pigment at a time and can sometimes ruin what you're going for, but if you tap the brush after every time you touch the pigment, it just looks like you're wasting sooooo much of the product, and making a mess.

The pigments are pretty and I like the color selection for the palette a lot. This would probably be my top three in palettes if the formula was just a little better. It wears long, and you can create really pretty, fun looks with this palette. It's just a lot more work to get them to look how you want.

Comments about Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Eyeshadow Palette:

I watched and read numerous reviews before purchasing, and I am happy that I gave it a try and added it into my arsenal. These colors are extremely pigmented and can be intimidating to work with, and I will stress that this palette may not be for everyone in terms of application preference. I also would say that this is not a "quick look and go" palette, as it takes some time to blend out. I'd also recommend planning the look and experimenting with colors, and brush up on color theory because some colors when mixed or blended with an inexperienced hand can turn grayish or brown.

I have however been able to create numerous stunning looks and I am always excited to create a look whenever I open the palette, what you need is just some confidence in your skills, a good set of brushes, and time. Do not rush when using the palette otherwise you can get frazzled, as opposed to MR which is a foolproof palette and more user friendly. All this said, I wholeheartedly would recommend the palette as the color selection is unique, the pigments are potent, and the quality is there. Watch some YT folk you trust and get their opinions, swatch in store, and make the choice for yourself.

    • Q:

Are there dupes for all of the shades? I unforunetly didn't like the palette itself, I tried different techniques and such. I personally loves the colors a ton! I would much rather a different formula that would make it easier to use for every kind of customer, beginning or wiser when it comes to makeup. I can work with the palette, I'd rather just find other pigments that don't take so much work..
