Have grown tired of messy / sticky gel and so has my hair. I have not been getting the results I once did from gel. My natural curl is big ringlets and the gel had slowly reduced them to small kinky curls. The creme is the best!!!! I apply it when I've remove most of the dripping water from my hair (leaving in a generous amount of DevaOne conditioner from my shower). One pump for the hair below the nape of my neck and another for the hair from my crown. I apply end to root via scrunching - air dry as much as possibel - diffuse until 80% dry.
The creme gives natural soft curl but with a slight "paste" effect that keeps curls from being limp. It was exactly what I was looking for in a single after shower product.
Most Helpful Critical Review It's okay..
This product is not bad but it's not that great idea. Again for the price I think it's not worth it.
1. If you add or need gel to hold your curls this product will cause a build up effect. So you can't use it with anything else.
If you just want a soft curl then it might be decent.
2. The smell isn't that wonderful. Could use a more botanical fragrance to support the bottle claims.

I wanted to write a true review based on my personal DevaCurl experience. I have 2C/3A curls and these are the best products I've found for my hair. I've been using DevaCurl for about 3 years. I alternate between using the No Poo and Low Poo, and I use One Condition. After my shower, I wrap my hair in a microfiber towel and then scrunch in the Styling Cream. It's a lightweight cream that isn't overly sticky, and you don't have to use a whole lot. I diffuse my hair (upside down for list), and then I do my styling. I barely ever have to use another product, and if so I might add a little Suoercream for humid days. I've also tried their Lightweight Defining Gel (gel like hold) B'Leave-In (a volumizing gel) and the Wave Maker (more like a hair lotion). Although I'm not a huge fan of gels, I think these were okay.
Recently there's been a large controversy with DevaCurl. I just want to make people aware of what I've read before they make decisions based on everyone else's reviews. Shortly after the convoy was acquired by a large, well known company, people began reporting issues of changed hair pattern, loss of hair, dandruff, and lesions on the scalp. There is a large amount of people suffering from issues. From what I've read, DevaCurl has been doing additional testing and hasn't found any problems with their products. Some believe that the issue could be due to buildup on the scalp causing blockage to the hair follicles from not using actual shampoo. Some have said that there may have been a formulation change, meaning that the ingredients may not have changed but perhaps they are no longer being added in their most natural form (scientifically). Some have said that some of the products might be stored in an area that isn't heat regulated, and the heat may be changing the chemical components of the products. It could also be a bad batch. The list goes on...
I just wanted to put it out there as a precaution to do some research and make an educated decision. Not all products are for everyone. I have not experienced any negative effects, and it's very sad for those who have. I'm even back and forth about whether or not to keep using them because I love them.
LOST MY HAIR!

I was using deva curl products for over a year, I started experiencing scalp irritations and swelling itchiness, then my hair started getting brittle and falling out!! Smh... stay away!
My hair is falling out
Rain or Shine from Portland, OR
If I could give this one star, I would. I was trying to embrace the curls that I have, and asked for recommendations. I was recommended this, and at first it was great. However, after two weeks, my hair was falling out in clumps in the shower, which is not normal for me. My hair was also dull and dry. I returned the product, and one of the associates told me I wasn't the only one who's had these problems! It's been a couple weeks now and my hair is starting to calm down, but I've practically lost my curls at this point, and I'm probably going to have to chop my hair to salvage what I have left, as it continues to break apart. My hair is a part of who I am, and it's heartbreaking to watch this happen to my hair because of this product. I'm so disappointed in this product, this needs to be recalled immediately.

Love it! Keeps hair soft not crunchy, I have to use a lot of this product for my hair texture and thickness, cuts down on frizz and makes great waves or textures.

Finally found something that does wonders for my hair!!!! I have 3c hair and this is the best thing that's happened to my hair. I've been using all the devacurl products for about 3 months now and my hair keeps getting better!!! You have learn how to use the products and it'll work wonders for your hair. The bottles tells you exactly how to use them. Best thing I've tried. I'm finally embracing my coily curls!!!

-1 star... Hair loss
Aly from Salt Lake City, UT
I recently started using devacurl products again and I regret it 100%. At first I started noticing my hair was thinning out but I thought it was stress. Then my hair started to fall out in clumps while in the shower. I barely touch my hair and curls are falling out like crazy... my curl pattern changed too. I used to have so much volume and my curls were so beautiful and bouncy. Now it looks like a bowl of soggy stretched out ramen on my head. And that's on a good day... bad days my hair would start to dread and frizz so bad I had to cut knots out with scissors because their conditioner made it even more impossible to de-tangle. Basically I just cry on hair wash day now because I know it'll just fall out when I finger comb it. I stopped using their entire line because that was the only new thing in my hair routine. Do your research before using new products. Lesson learned the hard way.
I like it at first until build up and dry flaky hair
Shantel from Philadelphia, PA
I really liked this product at first because it made my hair look really nice by controlling frizz for most of the day and defining my curls. I also like how the company is specifically for curly hair. HOWEVER, I started to notice my scalp getting dry and itchy and I was getting build up. So I googled it and other people are also getting build up and dry itchy and flaky scalps along with LOSING HAIR from most of Devacurl products. Therefore I will be switching to another brand. I do not recommend this product.

damaged my hair, my hair used to be curly now its frizzy to the point I canf see my curl pattern anymore. made my hair greasy and seemed to coat it in a weird film that made me self conscious if people touched my hair. made my hair unmanageable and all the buildup in my scalp gave me dandruff
Made my hair fall out
Kate from northern,VA
This made my hair fall out in clumps in the shower. I have a bald spot in the back of my head from it!!!! As soon as I stopped using I hardly had any fallout in the shower. This totally dried out, made my hair break & loosened my curls as well as balding me in the back of my head.
Do Not Use
Miller from Long Beach
I have used this product for years!!! I started noticing about 2 years ago my hair was dry and brittle. I was loosing so much hair. I went to my doctor to get thyroid and hormones check and everything was normal. I recently returned all my recently purchased product from Deva Curl and bought curl Smith. I didn't make the connection before, but with so many other women suffering from similar issues I will never purchase Deva Curl again. I am already seeing a difference in the moisture of my hair. Not I am working hard to recover where I have a bald spot! YES A BALD SPOT. Don't buy. Stay away
Good for curly/wavy hair

I love this product but have long hair so I need to use more than the recommended amount to achieve the look I want.
I LOVE IT !
Ely from Washington D.C
In all honestly i did not believe it would work for my hair, since i tried so many products and basically wasting my money on things that did not work for my hair. The products I've used, no results, what's so ever.
This is the perfect true self. I love it.
I think the gel is better

I tried this twice as part of a kit that hat came with shampoo, conditioner, and styling gel. This cream really weighed my hair down. I will try again in the most humid months & see if it is worth keeping.
Love love love this product!

Current Fave Cream Product!
emily from New York
This was the first cream styling product I ever used when I first embraced my curls. I've tried other cream stylers since, and this one will always be my favorite. I have loose 2c/3a curls and fine hair so a little goes a long way with this product.
I use this after I shampoo and condition, and follow it with a gel. I use about a dime-sized amount at most, because using more than that weighs my hair down.
Devacurl's styling cream works really well to moisturize and define my curls, and the only complaint I have is that it is quite heavily scented. I would recommend this product to everyone who wants moisturized, defined curls (unless they're sensitive to scent).
I like the product and love the smell!

I add a pea size amount to my hair along with styling gel after I wash it. Helps hold the curl even after a night of sleep.

My hair is really thin and wavy , I apply this product with fresh wet clean hair and then dry it with my diffuser and the end results are so pretty!! I get compliments with my hair every time I use this!! LOVEEEEE

I have long, wavy hair and this works amazing! Enough hydration but it still gives volume. Smells like skittles!
Cmlo from Orlando
So a couple of months ago I bought this cream and wasn't a huge fan initially. I decided to give it a go a second time just using two pumps on damp hair and my results were soft defined 3a curls. I also enjoy this with Arc angel gel!
So happy I purchased this!

I was really wanting to try DevaCurl ever since starting my curly hair journey but didn't wanna spend the extra money so I just tried all things Shea Moisture. So prior to trying this I was using the Shea Moisture Curl Smoothie, but I really wanted to try a new cream that was less heavy, something a little lighter. Once Ulta had a sale I ran out of my Shea Moisture shampoo and conditioner and wanted to repurchase it at Ulta but Ulta didn't have it in stock, so I decided to give Devacurl No Poo & One Condition a try and I really like them both! So since I loved the shampoo and conditioner from Devacurl I thought why not try a cream from them. I was torn between trying this product and the super cream. I just decided to try this. I am so glad I did! First off it smells amazing! I also love how it's not to heavy and a much lighter cream. I also notice (and so do my mom and my boyfriend) that my hair has a shine to it. I find my hair is a lot less frizzy from using Devacurl. For me it was definitely worth the extra splurge and I am loving my hair more and more. ☺️
My favorite cream
Rebecca from Santa Clarita, CA
I have baby fine hair thats 2C-3A curl pattern, and I really have to be careful about which products I use or my hair looks greasy. I use this styling cream first on soaking wet hair, then i add gel, and then i diffuse to dry. I then use the cream again and scrunch onto my dry hair, it softes the crunch from the gel and gives me extra body and soft, shiny, juicy curls.

My new go to product!
Alyssa from Fairfax, VA
I used this product after putting in a lightweight leave-in conditioner. I let my hair air dry halfway and then defused the rest! The two of them together worked great!
