Most Helpful Positive Review Almost perfect...please fix this!! May be replacing my current brow pencil...with a few changes!!! I have the shade taupe and it is the perfect neutral shade, not too warm or grey (I use the NYX microbrow in taupe and Loreal brow definer in Blonde). It acts as a stain, looks very natural, and is very long-lasting.. however, there is a significant flaw: the tip dries out after every use. It is a brush tip (not felt tip) and the product stays in the tip after using it, dries up, and no product comes out the next use. Applying a lot of pressure while swatching on the back of my hand removes the dried up bits and gets the ink flowing again. This happened literally the second day/third time I used it so it has nothing to do with running out, but appears to be a design flaw. If the drying out problem is fixed, I would 100% recommend this to everyone. I still would recommend, as the color is a great match for me and it looks so natural in the bald spots of my brow. It almost looks microbladed and you can't tell I am wearing makeup. The smudge proof claims are totally true!! (I cannot say the same for my brow pencil) When I wiped my brow with a damp cloth, it stayed on. Even mindlessly touching my brows all day it did not come off either. Only when I washed my face with face wash did I notice significant fading. There is definitely a learning curve with how much pressure to apply and getting the strokes in the right direction, but I think it is a very great start. With a few changes to the original product, I hope Ardell (or even some other brands) can build on this and make a really innovative, unique product.
Most Helpful Critical Review Almost perfect... I have a huge scar on one of my brows, so I STRONGLY prefer brow pens/markers for a more natural look. I've tried quite a few, and of those, Ardell is mostly my favorite.
When it works.
Nearly every brow pen I've tried dries out, but they can often be revived with warmth (put it in between my thighs for a minute), a little water, a little shaking, a little dabbing on the hand, whatever.
Not so with Ardell.
Only time revives the ink, and it can take hours before it's back in full force again. If you only wait ~10 minutes, you can usually get 1-3 strokes at a time, though.
The problem is that the tip is soft, which can make accuracy more difficult.
Additionally, like most pens, sometimes ink deposits way too much or too little.
Both of these things would be super quick and easy to fix if the ink didn't dry out, but every stroke counts with Ardell unfortunately, so every mistake has a high cost.
The thing that bugs me most is that you absolutely CANNOT run the tip anywhere near where you've already deposited ink. Doing so will make a fresh pen dry out IMMEDIATELY, and you'll be left with chunky crumbliness in your brows.
All of this is so frustrating for the very fact that when the stars align and it does work, this pen is AMAZING. The tip is incredibly fine, the ink is reasonably durable (don't get it wet though or you'll end up with inky blobs in your brows), it doesn't change color, great price, etc
For now, I use Lime Crime in the front of my brows to decrease reliance on Ardell. LC is also pretty fine, and less pigmented, so it works for the front well. I use Ardell for the rest.
Tips - store straight upside down, get at least 2 pens, keep skin completely clean and dry (not even moisturizer).
But y'all, be warned - I saved up gift cards so I could buy like 10 Ardell pens just to ensure I'll always be able to actually finish my brows, and that's completely ridiculous. I should NOT have to do that!
I'm finally giving in and trying UD pen now. Ugh

I was so excited to try this, but it was soooo bad! I used it one time, it was SO dark and more like a sharpie than makeup.
Then my second use there's was NOTHING coming out. I tried everything, I was shocked! It was a total waste of money.
Please don't waste your money!

I cannot even get a full set of brows out of this pen. Such a waste of dollars. And I'd give it zero stars if I could.
Great Product! 5

I've had mine for several months, and I love it!! The color doesn't turn a strange color on skin, goes on easily and once dried stays put really well. It doesn't dry instantly so you have a second to fix any mistakes. Perfect for hairlike strokes to fill in sparse brows. Love this!!
Before you buy take note!!!!! 4

This is honestly my new favorite brow product of all time at the moment because of how detailed I can make the lines (with practice) but also the color for me is almost perfect!!! Here's the catch: the product is a LOT DARKER than you think it will be... I got dark brown at first because I have dark brown hair but when I used it I couldn't seem to prevent the look of sharpie on my brows. I got taupe (which is sadly the lightest color because it's still dark brown just not nearly black) and it works absolutely great for me! One day I used the pen extra carefully to try to make it look as natural as possible and my mom told me that it didn't even look like I had brow makeup on!!! Just REMEMBER I got taupe but my hair is naturally dark brown. Dark brown was too dark for me but I have no idea if medium brown would've worked for me or not but I'm guessing not... Maybe I'll take a chance and try that color one day idk it's not expensive which is another plus. I guess if you get one that's too dark it can at least maybe be used as an eyeliner?... Haven't tried it though so I can't verify that one.
I would rate zero stars if I could 1

Ordered multiple times and I've never gotten a single use out of this pen because it comes dry.... you could store it upside down for a week you'll get half a brow tail done. Not good at all.....
Absolutely love 5

My brows look so natural and arched with this product, never using another one
I WILL NOT BUY ANY OTHER BROW PRODUCT 5

This product is exactly what I look for when needing to fill in my brows. It is very pigmented but goes on very smooth and stays on all day.
No Product 3

Literally went in the trash on day 1. Lasted enough for one brow. Not even worth the gas to return it. Consider yourself warned...
On point! 5

I get so many compliments on my brows when I use this product. By using taupe on the inner sections of my brows and medium brown on the outer edges, it creates an airbrushed look that looks microbladed. I also to use it after applying tinted brow gel for a quick and easy application.
Would not recommend 1
KloeC from GA
It started out good, but the tip slowly fell apart and is now no longer stiff...it's a flimsy brush. The ink ran out after about 5 strokes. Now the tip is so flimsy it just fills my brow with color but not individual strokes.
I like it 5

Liked the shade. Applies very hair like strokes

LITERALLY A PIECE OF TRASH IN A TUBE.
didn't work- and i tried swatching it many times.
Do not buy. It's trash in a stick.
Store Upside Down!!! 4
Heather from Olathe, KS
I see so many comments complaining about nothing coming out and it continuously works so much better if you store it upright with the tip down rather than flat on its side or upright with the tip pointing up. I store all my felt and brush tip products this way and they work so much better when you store them in a way that helps keep the ink flowing to the point. This is by far my favorite brow pen that I've used because it's nowhere near as intense as others (Shape + Shade Brow Tint & Brow Flick, looking at you two). For the price I think it's a great option and I love the shade taupe - I have naturally med-dark brown hair but it's bleached out to a silvery white so taupe fills in the gaps in my dark brows without making them look blocky or super dark and intense. So far I've tried three higher-end brow pens and then this one and I usually go for more high-end/luxury products but I actually like Ardell's the best and it's the one I'd recommend over the other three. Oh also, if you store yours upright and still have issues with the ink flowing try gently cleaning the brush tip with a damp cloth - sometimes it clogs which is why I took 1 star off.
A disappointment 2
Cat from US
I gave this 2 stars instead of 1 star because there was potential for this pen to give me realistic hair strokes but very quickly it failed on me. The felt tip dries too easily and I was having a hard time getting any pigment out. I bought this because an article I read said this is a dupe for the Glossier Brow Flick but maybe I was better off buying the Glossier one.
Too dark 1
nonnahs from Pennsylvania
I naturally have dark eyebrows and me being blonde I have to be careful to not make them too dark! I've been playing around to see how I can give myself a more natural look and decided to not spend a ton of money and try this...... I was wrong.... taupe was BLACK!!!!!!! definitely unhappy
Best Brow Product I have ever used 5
Olivia from PA
This is the best brow product I have ever used. It produces hair-like strokes effortlessly. I use the color taupe, and it does not turn green at all. The actual product lasts all day in your brows. The only thing is, you need to store it with the pen tip down, like in a cup, or else it will dry out. If you store it with the pen tip down, however, it will last a super long time!
SO much potential... 2
Ray from San Diego, Ca
Ok, I gave this 2 starts rather than 1 because I see so much potential in this product being a stellar dupe to maybe Glossier's Brow Flick or something similar. The problem with this for me, started when I initially opened it and tested it out. The brush was dry! I shook it and pressed at it for a moment, thinking it was due to shipping and it being new. The product that did come out made some very precise and natural looking hair strokes, however, it was dry after a few strokes again. I've let it sit and revisited, but it still dries out. It might be due to the fact that it's a brush and not a felt tip pen, but it's frustrating. I could not finish one brow!
As I said, soooo much potential here. I hope they tweak the packaging, formula, or whatever it is making it a dud.
Waste of money and time 😘 1

I just wasted money on this bogus product! Nothing's coming out of the tip, even after trying to warm it up and shake it vigorously per other reviews recommendations). WASTE OF MONEY.
So disappointed 1
Mrs. H from FL
This product didn't perform as described, and loses the ink after you begin using it. Don't shake it to try and move more pigment down because then you get it everywhere and it will leave you cleaning up the mess.
I'm just going to return it. So disappointed 😔
It's okay. 4

I do like how it leaves a light but natural tint on the brows. You can't really create "strokes" with this product. Also for as little as I've used it, it's drying up faster than I would like.
Very disappointed. I thought it would be a great product. 1

I use liner to fill in any areas that are thin and to enhance my natural brows.
Great when it works 4

It takes practice to feather properly but so worth the time. Just wish the flow problem didn't exist. If there is an easier way to get flow better, I wish they would tell you.
