Most Helpful Positive Review Very Natural-looking! The UrbanDecay Stay Naked weightless foundation is true to its name. The formula is really light and slightly on the runny side. This makes it very easy to blend and layer without a problem. I've experienced no issues with patchiness due to the formula being so thin. Personally, I did prefer using a brush to get a higher coverage but it also worked well with a sponge. Upon one layer it stands at a decent low medium coverage and at its peak you are looking at a high medium coverage all while maintaining a very natural appearance. What I mean by "natural" is that the finish is very skin-like; it doesn't sit on your face in a cakey way. The finish is on the matte side but not completely matte as it does reflect the light some. So, you're looking at a demi-matte or velvet matte finish. On me, it didn't progressively become dewy throughout the day but some oil did come through as expected. Because of the nature of the foundation, it didn't really settle into my laugh lines as much or under eye lines compared to other foundations. I had no problems with it after setting it with my go to setting powder or with blending bronzer, blush, highlight etc... over-top it. The foundation does set enough that if you have dry skin and wish not to use a setting powder you should experience no issues doing it that way as well. With regards to the foundation as a whole apart from its performance, the variety of undertones available is really on the inclusive side of the spectrum and as such should suit a wide-range of individuals. And, the demi-matte finish should, theoretically, be in favor of both people with dry skin and those with oilier skin types. My only con of the product was not the foundation itself but rather the bottle. I'm not sure if my pump was defective, however, it dispersed the product semi-haphazardly and the foundation had a tendency to spray everywhere. All in all, it was a good foundation that was easy to work with and incorporated a skin-like look and feel while retaining medium coverage. I would recommend this foundation to anyone looking for a lighter, more weightless feeling foundation and to anyone looking for a more natural finish to their foundation.
Most Helpful Critical Review Honest Review I'm one of those people who was incredibly disappointed that the original foundation was discontinued, but I wanted to give this foundation a fair try. This is my experience wearing it for 2 weeks for 8-10 hours each day. Note that I'm of course comparing it to the previous formula but my review still stands as an honest experience with the foundation. (Skin type: predominantly oily with occasional dryness around nose/mouth during cold months)
Color match: Previously a 4.0 in the original foundation, I was matched with 50WY which I think is the best shade in the range for me. Out of 5 stars, the shade itself gets about a 3.5. I can definitely make it work, but the 50WY is decidedly more yellow and less olive than the 4.0.
Texture: I like the texture better than a lot of other foundations on the market, but it's not fluid like the original, which I personally miss. This one definitely feels thicker, not quite as weightless.
Coverage: Definitely firmly in the light to medium category which is ideal for me. I don't need a foundation to give me full coverage; I simply want an even tone on my face. I like customizable coverage, so I want something light and buildable that I can layer where I want to, and when I have breakouts, I just use small dots of a full coverage concealer. This technique has served me well through my 20s and is how I avoid looking cake-y.
Wear: I tried applying with a damp sponge and the old UD buffing brush. It wore pretty well, or at least as well as foundation can last on me throughout a work day. My skin gets oily fast so I see separation in the typical areas in most foundations I try. But note that I don't wear primer and despite being oily, I don't powder often. I wear an oil-free SPF under my makeup. This makeup didn't look too heavy on me, but I felt it did look more obviously like makeup than the original formula which just mimicked smooth, even skin.
My main concern/problem with this foundation: The alcohol content. Alcohol denat. (the harsh, drying alcohol, not the moisturizing type of alcohol like cetyl/stearyl/cetearyl/behenyl you'd want to see in a skin product) is the 3rd or 4th ingredient in this list. Years of skincare research has taught me that the higher on the ingredients list, the more the product contains. Here's the thing to note: I didn't look at the ingredients until about a week of wearing this because I liked the original so much and trusted UD. What got me to look into it was that my skin was getting noticeably dry and flaky. When I finally pieced this together I felt pretty dumb, because I'd been looking into every cause *but* the foundation. But when I saw the alcohol, it made sense.
Something you're putting on your face and wearing for long periods of time simply should not have alcohol in it. Especially this much. No matter what skin type you have. No matter how emollient and protective you feel your skin prep is. Any dermatologist, skincare scientist, or skincare enthusiast will tell you that. This will cause irritation and longterm negative effects and is not worth it. After the second week and not being able to take being flaky every day, I stopped wearing this foundation. After a few days of giving my skin a break and tending to it with jojoba oil, the flakiness went away.
What alcohol offers a foundation is fluidity and a light feel, but I'm confused about the addition, because the original formula was truly fluid yet didn't have alcohol denat. And man, I miss that formula. I went through bottles and bottles of it. I had never liked other foundations before trying that one. To find something so light, so natural yet buildable, and a near-perfect shade of olive for my mixed race complexion that is so often neglected or matched with way-too-yellow shades, seemed rare. I felt like I never had to worry about it being discontinued, knowing so many others felt the same way. Wasn't this somewhat of a "cult product"? I didn't even realize it was reformulated until it was too late; I never had the chance to get a back-up bottle.
UD, if you're reading, I hope you consider this. Your old formula was IT. I understand that there's a lot that goes into product development, including research, countless formulations and testing, etc. But I'm baffled by this change. I see so many reviews echoing my sentiments. I know we all seem dramatic, but foundation is a such a personal thing. For many of us, it's the literal foundation of our confidence when we step out into the world. Trying to find a replacement is a tiring and expensive task. The rest of your makeup looks different, sits differently.
This was longer than intended, so thanks for sticking around if you have. Note that the 2 stars are simply for how it looks on the skin, but due to the high amount of alcohol denat., I can't recommend buying this, no matter what type of skin you have.
P.S. Don't discontinue the eyeshadow in Smog.

Wanted to love this however being a redhead with very pale skin I found this to oxidize and look very orange. It was also very hard to blend and would settle into creases and any lines or look patchy. Coverage wasn't the best either.

Great Product! I've used Lancome for about 20 years and other. This is the best foundation that I have ever used. No need to use other. I do add Urban Decay All Day/All night Primer!
I really liked this product but should've gotten darker 3

I would just use this for a quick fresh faced look if I would've gotten the right color.

The colors are not that good. I did the color match test and came out 20cp for fair skins with blue undertone. Not enough blue. It says pink undertone, but was peach on me. Also. I found it to be very dry....
A good one. 4

I liked this one better than the all nighter foundation from urban decay.
The best for dry skin and no flashback!! 5
Dry skin lady from Columbus OH
I have been struggling to find a foundation to wear on my super duper dry skin that won't flake or cake or settle into fine lines but also doesn't have spf and cause flashback in photos. I tried this and it is amazing!! As the day went on I developed a bit of a really nice dewy look. Coverage is perfectly fine. Stays in place. I am sold. If you have combo or oily skin you will probably hate this, but if you suffer from dry skin like me- get this!
The Only Foundation I've Ever Liked 5

I do not usually wear a lot of makeup, but I was searching for a lightweight foundation to even out my skin tone and minimize pores. An associate at my local Ulta store helped me find the right shade in this product, and I love it! It has more of a matte finish, which I like because my forehead tends to get oily. With many other foundations, I do not like the feel of them on my face; with this product, I can't even tell it's there except by my evened-out skin tone. For a minimalist like me, it's great!
I bought again 4

Y'all, this is THE BEST. Moisturizing. Stays on ALL DAY without touch ups. I actually slept in it and woke up the next day without having to do touch ups. Highly recommend.
So light can't even feel it !! 5

I love this foundation! It stays on all day with or without a setting pray. I obviously use a setting spray with it now when I go out because it does get on my mask since it's not made for mask wearing. BUT it's by far the best foundation I've used. It's super light and you don't need a lot of it which makes the foundation last longer. I could never feel the foundation on my skin so sometimes I forget that I even have makeup on which is a plus because my face doesn't feel all cakey!! So if you're looking for a foundation that looks natural and doesn't look heavy, this one is it. You won't be disappointed.
I would recommend if you are looking for a very light founda 4

I am actually impressed with the formula. It's very sheer however, it reminds me of a CC or Bb cream.
Love it!!! 5

I orginally bought this as a presents for my mom, but fell in love after swatching it! I have since ordered some for myself. I love that it's so lightweight!

Nichole from Kansas City, MO
I bought this product hoping for a lighter weightless wear but quickly found out it sits in all my pores and shows flakiness of my skin. It's also extra drying. I will be returning hopefully for something more moisturizing.
Amazing lightweight medium to full coverage 5
Jen from Texas
This foundation is amazing in my opinion. I've never wrote a review for any product before. The coverage is medium but can definitely be built up. I've being using this product for a while then I switched to Frankie rose, but my problem with that foundation is finding a shade close to my skin color. This foundation matches me perfectly in 40wy. This foundation is beautiful in photos. The color stays put all day and still looks beautiful at the end of the day. I will keep purchasing this product.
Light weight! 5
Rachel from SC
I would say this foundation as a medium coverage that you can build up or sheer out. My holy grail is the Estée Lauder double wear, but I found this foundation about a year ago. I wear it almost every day. I wanted something more light weight for every day and this definitely achieves that. I'm a health care worker, so I will say that this foundation does rub off in my mask even after setting it. However, if I don't have to wear a mask, I don't have any issues with it sliding off my face during the day. I wear the shade 30NN and have light skin with neutral undertones. This foundation is definitely nice in the summer time when it's 100 degrees. I will also say that I don't notice any caking or dry patches with this foundation. It gives a nice even application. Overall I would definitely recommend this foundation.
Game changer 5
The Psoriasis Lady from America
First of all, it is nearly impossible to find my shade bc I'm so pale. 10CP is my perfect match. Secondly, it does not break me out. It lives up to its claims. I gave problems with foundation wearing off during the day bc of my oily skin. This is the only foundation that has looked the same at the end of the day just as it did at the beginning of it. Thirdly, I saw some comments about it making dry patches more noticeable. It does not do this on me and I gave psoriasis on my face. The coverage is actually really good and I rarely need concealer for my psoriasis or acne. This foundation is a total game changer.

I love this foundation, I have to use 20 NN and 30 NN to match my face. I've tried several to match, but to get a more even color a mix the 2 and it works well. This has become my ultimate foundation and the only one that doesn't make me greasy and oily by the end of the day. I actually have to make sure to moisturize my twine so I don't get flaky. Worth a try!
Good, not great. 4
Nikki from Cincinnati, Ohio
I'm still on the search for THE foundation. This is good, not great. I wouldn't describe it as full coverage, but it is buildable. I feel like it emphasised places on my chin that were dry. But normally my skin is very oily and I will say this does work very well for oily skin. It doesn't wear off later in the day.
Overall, I'd buy it again. But I'm still searching for my holy grail foundation.
Love this! 5

I've tried numerous foundations, and this is the one I feel works the best for me by far. I also get compliments on it, so I know it's hiding my imperfections while not looking too cakey.

The color of this foundation is nice and the coverage is light. The problem for me is the matte finish get stuck in the fine wrinkles and the jowls.
Best for Me! 5

I have tried a lot of makeup, but this one is the best I have found. It does not collect in the facial lines and gives good coverage for age spots. Easy to apply too!
Best Foundation I've Used in Years 5
Ragsy from Northern California
Listen, at any given time I have around 35 different foundations in my drawers I'm cycling through. Some I'm just trying because they're new, some are standards and favorites, some are for winter skin, some for summer skin - you get it. I feel like I've tried so many formulas and not a lot surprises me these days, but I was genuinely unprepared for how good this UD foundation would be. First, color match is the best out of any foundation I've tried - neutral undertones are honestly are to match without them going too pink or too yellow, but with this foundation it's flawless. Second, the coverage is perfection - a thin formula that delivers on coverage while still feeling good in person. Not only is one layer a beautiful natural look while still covering most of your blemishes and dark spots, but a second thin layer is like, "hello honey my skin is poreless" without ever getting cakey. Lastly, the staying power is serious, and at the end of a 14-hour day I'm always taking selfie's to preserve how good my makeup looked on that day. 10/10 recommend.
Not for dry skin 1
Rachel T. from Kittanning, PA
I don't wanna put this foundation down completely because I believe my experience is 100% on my skin type. But I do want to give a heads up to anyone with dry skin like me... It clung to dry spots that I didn't even know existed and it just looked like a desert floor on my skin. I even tried the concealer with it and it did the same thing. The consistency of the product was not my favorite either as far as blending it out goes. It didn't look good at all by the end of the day since it was patchy directly after application to begin with, so I highly recommend skipping this one if your skin is on the dryer side.
