Most Helpful Positive Review Try it out!
I bought this powder hoping to balance (not control, that is the keyword here), my ultra oily skin and soothe my hormonal blemishing. I have been pleasantly surprised as it does both of the aforementioned quite well. This powder has cut down at least in half my normal oiliness and that is significant in my book! As with ANY powder, if you have flaky-ness, it WILL become pronounced with its application. I sometimes will have small thin dried off veil in parts on some blemishes that are starting to dry out by themselves. What I do then, is put on my normal skin care routine and apply this powder AROUND those areas. My blemishes and/or whitehead bumps do heal faster (even if I don't put it directly on the one's that have developed that small thin dried off veil). I DO NOT apply this powder with the puff included, I use a new clean cotton square every time, (I take out the puff, close it again, turn it upside down and tap it twice onto my palm, open it at a 45 degree angle so that the powder does not fall out on either end and dip my cotton square onto the lid, pressing lightly into my skin (not buffing it in) while making sure NOT to double dip but instead flipping the cotton square to its other side if I want to use more product, and/or use another new clean cotton square to dip into the lid/brush off excess on face). I do not wear any face makeup, so I cannot speak of how effective or its finish looks like on those that do wear it. Keep in mind, this product is NOT focused on those that do wear face makeup, to make them appear airbrushed. This product is focused on balancing (again this is the keyword) oiliness and soothe/decongest pores. This product has worked for me and has become a must have in my own personal daily routine.
Most Helpful Critical Review Messy and can see it on my skin
When I received this (I ordered it online), it was in a plastic bag with the other products I ordered. The lid was loose, and there was Special Healing Powder all over everything. I was surprised there wasn't an inner seal on the product (1) to keep that from happening, and (2) so I knew it was new and unused. So...with the powder all over the place, there was another mess when I removed the lid - there is a little plastic part with holes in it (as in all loose powder products), that allows a limited amount to surface above that plastic part. Well, there was loose powder all the way to the lid, which I ended up dumping out because it made such a mess. Now I'm left with about half the amount of powder in the container as it should have been received.
As far as the product performance, I'm not seeing any special healing results, and when I apply it to my skin with the little sponge/puff applicator pad thingie, I can see the product on my skin. So now I use a baby kabuki brush to dust it on, and dusting off the visible layer. Not quite thrilled with this product and not sure I know what it's supposed to do, since it doesn't really do any healing. I was hoping it would help, with hormonal acne in my chin. No such luck. :(

My dad is Filipino & my mom has a history of cystic acne, so I really got unlucky when it comes to genetics. My skin is extremely greasy and I also get tons of breakouts (despite washing my face twice daily). I use this product to set my foundation and it works very well! I do use my own powder brush instead of the pad provided.
Going 2 years strong now!¡

I have combination skin that leans more towards oily, this product has been pretty good on my skin overall.
Best Mario Product EVER!

I use this product to set my makeup and it keeps it lasting for soooo long. My dad is Filipino and I get SUCH oily skin. Even with COVID I will use it when I'm makeup-free. The bottle is tiny, but it lasts forever!
Does not work

Does not control my oil at all. To be fair, I haven't found a product that does yet..
Special Healing Powder

I hope Mario Badescu never, ever stops making this product. In 2018 I decided to stop wearing foundation to give my skin a break, but I also needed SOME powder to keep my oiliness down so I could still look professional at work. I'm not sure how I discovered this product but I am so glad I did. I apply this after my moisturizer and sunscreen with a buffing brush, and it helps keep shine to a minimum without looking like a I have a face of makeup on. Of note, I have light skin with pink undertones - it doesn't give me a yellow cast, but that may not be the case for different complexions. This does not dry me out. Only downside is that it's full of talc :/ what can you do
Waste of money
Redsteph19 from Newberg, OR
I'm not sure what the point of this is. It looked super white on my skin and I'm pale to begin with. It didn't help with shine & made me break out.
Don't be scared of Talc!
MB Girl from Las Vegas NV
I'm with the Reviewer Amanda.... Do your research on ingredients in cosmetics and you'll find talc is in most powders. If you want to 1-2 star every product with talc you'll be here forever, use your time to go to fda.gov and educate yourself. Don't be mad at Mario Badescu for making their ingredient list honest and easy to read!
With that being said I love this powder and find it works best if I use it under make up. My skin is oily and this powder helped suppress oil while minimizing my pores- even during the Las Vegas summer! It's too bad it didn't work for some other oily skinners but all skin is different. Give it a try, I hope it works for you too!
Great for Oil & Shine

Does the job as advertised! A+

I noticed that if I use this product too much it does cause breakouts for me. I tend to still use but sparingly.
Miracle worker for your skin!
Amanda from Mass
This product is fabulous, I read a lot of reviews while looking for a powder for my skin. I did get turned off by all the talc comments, but after I did some research I was not detected anymore. I basically came on here to end the ignorance in some of these reviews, talc is a natural mineral. It is is TONS of makeup, TONS. Most of the time you do not even know it's there. Talc IS NOT a dangerous mineral unless it contains asbestos which we all know is a huge carcinogen. People need to stop spreading ignorance and fear. If you're concerned about talc in your makeup go check with the FDA (they have information about the topic and it's current as of 2020). Or go check out the company you're buying from and look into their Talc further to see if it contains asbestos. . 😑
Best thing ever for blemishes

I am post menopausal but still get a few blemishes and have very sensitive skin. Everyone in my family that have blemishes from my generation on down use it with great results!
Talc!?! You'll need something special to heal from THIS

The FIRST ingredient is talc. Talc. This is toxic stuff, folks. Don't even think about it.
Works...but read ingredients!

Just be cautious about what you're putting on your skin. I was not, and was really disappointed to find out the active ingridient is a known cause of cancer.
AMAZING! Does everything it claims to do.....

If you have oily or combination/oily skin like I do THIS IS A MUST-HAVE! I put this on top of my makeup where my skin had got oily and my makeup looked flawless. Took the shine away, no flashback, no clogging pores, and it's really translucent, because I am a caramel shade and you cannot see it on my skin, or makeup. JUST GET THIS!

perfect for my oily nose and forehead. I use a little in the morning and once around lunch time and it keeps the oil in check all day

I was so stoked to try this stuff after seeing almost 5 stars but my face is so congested after using this for a week. I got a facial to help clear it up, my face looked much better, so I gave it another try so it had a fair chance. Went back to using it and my pores got all congested again. Blackheads and more. I WILL say that it kept my face nice and matte all day, but obviously that ain't worth the acne!
"Healing" is right - this heals my seborrheic dermatitis.
Serena from St Cloud MN
I tried this product because some of the ingredients were recommended as treatment for seborrheic dermatitis, and here they were in combination! If I did not use it, I am sure it would come back. But the itchiness and redness all around my nose, nasio labial folds, and under where my eye glasses lay is nice, smooth non-irritated skin again thanks to this product. I use it everyday after I put my foundation on. It's the only thing that has ever helped, and I have tried MANY treatments.
love this stuff
Ej from Logan
I have an oily t zone and no matter what products I use I always have an oily finish in that area even after i put makeup on. I would usually just blot with toilet paper but it would still be oily after a few minutes. I started using this stuff after I put my makeup on (it's like a translucent powder so you cant tell) and I was shocked the first time I used it! The oil was immediately gone. Like I've never seen my skin or makeup look that good! The only downside is it doesnt stay on forever and I'll have to touch it up if I'm going somewhere but it's not a big deal. It does come with a pad-like-brush but I just use one of my old brushes and i prefer that more. Also, it's going to last me forever. It looked really small when I got it but you really dont use a ton. So definitely worth the price.

I use this as finishing powder on days when my skin is a bit more oily than usual or if I have a breakout area. It seems to calm the angry nature of an outbreak. Over foundation, it gives a nice finished look without drying my skin.
Does not help oily skin
Kim from Rochester, MN
I have extremely oily skin and bought this hoping it would help keep my skin from looking/ feeling so shiny. It works for awhile, but still have to reapply midday. It does help heal/ dry out breakouts!
THIS STUFF IS AMAZING!!
Patato from Chicago
This product does absolute wonders!!! I freaking love it, not only is it acne fighting but it keeps the oil at bay! At the end of the day, my skin gets so oily. But with this, my skin has never looked so good! Not sure how it does with my acne because I've only been only using it for a couple of days but I'm pretty sure it will help bc my skin is not gonna be as oily as it normally is. And I use it before I put on any makeup.
Bee from Torrance
I absolutely love this powder. Not only does it help heal my acne but it also completely controlled the oils in my T zone. I've used so many powders to avoid oil coming through and this is the only powder that's help.
Kris Jenner Works Hard, Special Healing Powder Works Harder
B from Arkansas
This powder has been such a good fix for my hormonal chin acne that seems to emerge every month or so. It does a good job at drying out pimples and works far better than the drying lotion does. By far my favorite Mario Badescu product out there & will continue to buy in bulk.
