Most Helpful Positive Review Great For Extremely Dry Skin! I have had a life long issue with very dry skin. It is a real problem, especially in the harsh winters where I live. The Skin Food Original is a perfect solution for my dry skin issues. I like to apply it as a mask before bed in the winter because it is kind of heavy and greasy. A tiny bit goes a long way!! It is almost like using a lip balm for your face as far as explaining the relief my skin gets from this. It feels very healing to cracked dry skin. I also like to use it on my hands when they get dry and cracked. I love that it has no animal testing, is free of parabens and phthalates, free of synthetic preservatives and fragrances. The only thing negative is how oily it can make your skin if you put too much or if you don't have time to let it absorb before applying makeup. I make sure I have at least 20 minutes to let it absorb if I am applying it before I apply foundations so it is not greasy or heavy. Once it absorbs, my skin feels soft and hydrated, so, the oily feeling is just the initial reaction of your skin because it has so many nutrients for your skin to absorb. Great product, my winter is much better with it! It leaves my skin looking fresh and hydrated and feeling brand new.
Most Helpful Critical Review Bizzare texture, very greasy-oily I tried it after seeing it recommended by a dermatologist and reading all the positive reviews here. I have very dry skin and am no stranger to thick, heavy moisturizers however this one just doesn't fit the bill. I find the scent overpowering, and the skin feel upon application to both hands and face is all wrong. It simultaneously feels oily, and like it's just sitting on top of my skin and not actually doing anything. I also detect a bit of graininess.

I just got this today and it is the closest thing I've found to the VERY well protective Utter Butter that one would find in Farm and Fleet...a product that protects cows' nether parts from becoming chapped and weather worn! This product not only is vegan, but the texture on your skin...you have to work it in much like a suntan lotion; but you'll find your skin drinks it up! I had dried finger tips and dried cuticles and rough knuckles but now...they are back to their feminine selves. The scent is also complex but light. I would say though the price point feels high; it is a VERY GOOD vegan product with sustainability AND high quality.

Just not impressed. It's not the best, not the worst. The smell is a bit strong and it doesn't spread super easily. It's o.k..
lives up to the hype 5

I was always unsure about trying this. I've bought the body butter each winter for a few years but it sometimes leaves too much of a waxy coating on my skin & takes too long to absorb. I wanted to try something else that also didnt have a lot of bad for you ingredients. Finally decided to give this a shot because Ulta has a great return policy. It works so well & actually absorbs fairly quickly. It does work, spread, & absorb better if you emulsify it between your hands/ fingers prior to application. So far ive used it head to toe. I think it's going to be my new foot & hand staple because it absorbs so quickly. I dont think it'll be good to use regularly on arms, legs, & body because of the container size, but if you have dry patches on those areas then it's worth buying.
BTW the lip tube is Ah-Mazing.
Awesome Moisturizer! 5

I use this generally after washing my face at night time. It's amazingly intense moisture action leaves my skin supple, especially under the eyes when I don't get as much sleep - you can't tell. Unfortunately, the moisture leaves shine so it's not something I would wear out in the daytime. It gives the look after you've had a facial and your face feels awesome but you definitely look a tad greasy.
I buy this product over and over! Love it! 5

The first time I tried this product, I was very put off by it; it felt very thick and greasy, and I thought, "another lotion I hate." But within minutes, it seemed to sink into my skin withOUT the greasy, thick feeling! I was shocked to discover that I loved this product! It left my hands soft and smooth. I will say that a little goes a long way. I figured if a little did a great job, I'd lather on more, but I think it is possible to overdo it. I use it every night on my feet after I shower. My feet used to be dry and cracked, but no more! They are very soft and look healthy and hydrated. I'm on my third tube since the quarantine started. I've ordered it repeatedly and have given it as gifts, and will do so for Christmas, too!
Oily but hydrating, makes skin super soft. 4

I'm so happy ULTA started carrying Weleda. There is a learning curve with this particular product. Warming up the product with hands before application is key! This is way too thick to simply just spread all over the face without warming up.
In my opinion it's way too greasy for under the makeup, I prefer to use this as a night cream. I guess it could be used during the day if going for a super dewy natural minimal makeup application moment otherwise I could see this smudging around makeup or just dissolving makeup. A little goes a long way.
Not a fan of the scent but thankfully it doesn't linger. The body cream is a bit too thick and the light cream is nice but doesn't melt as easily as this ultra rich cream.
Wishing weleda still made these in the aluminum tube, they are now in plastic tubes.
Sticky but effective 5
Flipperrrr from Chicago
This product is more sticky than greasy and because of the thickness it was a bit hard to spread. I was quite turned off when I first applied because of that. However, once it's on, my skin felt so covered and relaxed. It used to be so dry and tight no matter how many layers of serums, moisturizers and facial oils I put on. But this gave me the feeling that moisture is locked in and all that tightness was completely gone. Wow. It would be heavy for summer but if your skin is so dry in the winter it stings when putting on moisturizer, try this.
So Rich and Moisturizing! 5

The texture of this feels pretty greasy on the skin and it did not sink into my skin well at all. I have dry skin and use very thick moisturizers, and while this is definitely thick, it did not sink into my skin. The real dealbreaker for me is the smell though. I'm not sure if I got an expired product or something because mine smells very strongly like paint. I stopped using it because it isn't very effective and I'm not sure how good it is to put something on my face that smells like this.
I use this as an under eye cream! 5

When nothing else worked for the crepey skin under my eyes, I gave this a try. I've been using it for 3 months now & it worked miracles on the wrinkles and dryness. Hasn't caused any breakouts, either. Great (natural) scent & very rich and buttery. Love this!

It's very thick. It kind of feels like spreading peanut butter all over my face. After you get passed that, It feels nice and moisturizing; I recommend using a facial roller to help it absorb. It smells like a citrus-y paint. I'm not too bothered by it though. Something I enjoy is that you don't have to reapply for a very long time. Also, a little goes a very long way. While I'm not a big fan of the texture, it really is very moisturizing and I would recommend.
Magical moisturizer worth the hype 5

I'm obsessed with skin food. I have at least 4 bottles in my purse, car, nightstand at all times. I read about it on Goop and I use it daily as a moisturizer. It's amazing for a sunburn, can be used as a lip balm even and is a skin cure all. My 4 y/o loves it and asks for it after her bath.

Love this cream, a little GOES A LONG WAY! Great application, makes my skin look dewy and hydrated. Does have a medium/strong scent (read the ingredients), but it's not too overpowering! I have combination skin and it's not greasy at all.

I bought this because of two articles, I read. Both of them were celebrities that use this specially during winter times. When skin get dehydrated and dries down. Now, I gotta tell you I didn't know the difference between dehydrated and dry skin. I thought this was only for the face. When it arrived. The ingredients list is amazingly natural. At that precise moment I was dealing with hormonal breakouts. Once I put it on. It was super thick so a lil bit goes a long way. I had shiny face. But, I was going to bed. Next day, when I looked in the mirror. I was shocked! The "hormonal acne" I had. The inflammation, the redness. Was gone. You could see the acne. It was in my jaw. Like over night the switch of inflammation was turned off. It began to finally heal. I actually use retinol a whole lot. Sometimes even during day and night. Like a 24 hr thing. The acne hadn't heal yet. Till I put this on. I actually bought it for winter dryness. Not for my acne. I was amazed. I speak highly of this product to everyone. I highly recommend it.

Bought the trial size at first just try as a facial moisturizer after seeing multiple IG makeup artists recommend it. I love it as a primer! BUT the game changer for me was after I used it on a BAD sunburn. I really laid the product on my poor sunburnt arms that were blustery and peaking, and I swear my skin looked ten times better after letting Skin Food go to work overnight. I swear by this product for ANY dry spots anywhere on your body! Fan for life!

This cream is amazing on dry feet. I typically get a pedi every two weeks and my heels get dry as I've aged. I didn't have a pedi for three months due to covid so I tried this and my heels never cracked. I got this as s tester in some sample kit. Already bought the full size and my cabinet won't be without it. Great product!

I bought this because I saw Katie Jane Hughs and Jamie Genevieve using this magic cream. Of course, I had some expectations but it's been incredible! A little goes a looooong way so the tube lasts forever ✨

I absolutely love the way my skin looks and feels in the a.m. after applying this at bedtime!! My skin is perfectly smooth & glowing!! It's a balm-type of cream, so I only use at night. I apply my Vitamin C serum or Hyaluronic acid 1st then Weleda skin food cream. A+++++

Let me say I honestly NEVER review products, but Wow! The product arrived yesterday noon, I used it at bedtime, and this morning my skin felt softer than I can even remember (and my soft skin was a thing of legend in high school, lol). If this continues to produce such amazing results, I am sure I will be a user for a long time.

I love a good thick cream but this is another level. A little goes a long way! The cream needs time to warm up on your skin before fully spreading around. I use as a spot treatment instead of all over because it's too oily.

PROS
- It definitely works well to keep dry/cracked skin moisturized
CONS
- I don't love the smell. I can't explain what the smell is. It's not bad exactly, but it's not appealing either.
- It leaves an oily residue on hands when rubbing it in
If you don't care about smell, it will definitely help any dry/cracked skin you may have. For me, it's too oily to use on anything other than feet and elbows. Overall, it's not something I would buy again.
