Most Helpful Positive Review Foundation Melts I'll just get the cons out of the way: a lot of the mented products have that rubberized finish like many of the nars products and as such any type of loose particle (dust, powder, etc) does get attached and is hard to clean. The foundation packaging is the one of the least rubberized and is easier to clean, but heads up
Beyond that I have this foundation in shade M40 and it literally melts into my skin. Its a perfect match and the foundation gives a wonderful natural finish. I don't find the foundation to be particularly oily and its easy to blend. Gives decent wear for a natural finish (i have oily areas so the foundation performs within my personal expectations)
Most Helpful Critical Review Middle Eastern Lady I'm a Middle Eastern lady myself. And shopping for foundations is always hard, in both sides of the camp. Normal brands that carry mostly light shades, are too light, and too pink for me. So I look at brands with more extensive dark shades. I checked out this brand, for that reason. And the price point is lower then average, so that's great! But on their lower end of colors, the shades are very very limited. And that's unfortunate. I'm not white. And I'm not black. I'm in the middle. And while everyone is so hyper focused on white versus black... people like me aren't even in the conversation. Can we just get legit inclusive makeup??? And can we not pit whites versus blacks? Can we all just be pretty and confident together as women?? Le sigh...

I wanted to love this foundation however I can't pretend it's good when it's probably one of the absolute worst foundations I have ever tried. It broke apart and separated after a short period of time... and clung to dry patches like crazy. I tried with several different primers and even tried without any primer at all and it was the same outcome every time.
Oily Finish 2

I wanted to really like this product as I am a make-up person and love to wear it. However, this left my face very oily and no makeup was left on my face after around 8 hours of wear. I will have to return this and get another foundation that mattifies the face better.

This product feels amazing on my face! I can put on my eyelashes, this product, and a little lip gloss; nothing else needed and I feel confident 😌 no more feeling like I have to cake on makeup to get this result.
I don't understand 5
Cool from My couch
Im going to support this brand and all but I don't understand why people always got to start a fight about somthing no one person going to have the same opinion and we cant change the way one person thinks so why lose sleep over it. If they wanna make darker shade for darker complected people cool thats cool honestly I would espected a larger shade range even then There are so many Beautiful skin tones. On another note wish i could try the foundation out but im too light. Oh well life goes on.

Love this foundation stick and I really don't care for foundation in stick form. I'm a NARS/Pat McGrath girl myself. I enjoy a medium coverage, skin like finish and this foundation is great for coverage but a satin finish. I also appreciate how difficult it was to find my color. It sounds ironic but it's true. Most POC have only 3 shades to choose from and there are so many to choose from with this brand. I have two shades, one that's my actually color (I'm NARS Cadiz/T20 for reference) and one for depth (T30). Buy this foundation!

NO ONE IS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SHADE RANGE. WHAT ARE ANY OF YOU TALKING ABOUT. GOOD GRIEF.
Salty Reviews.. wonder why. 5

"All the shades are too dark wah" are you also posting reviews for the hundreds, thousands of foundations strictly made for whyte people about how those shades are too light? Someone even called it ironic- the only irony is you complaining here but nowhere else. That's racism. This foundation is fabulous, blends well and lasts well, beautiful finish and I'm proud to support black owned brands. Even if it means I can only use it as contour, or only when I'm tan. At least I HAVE THAT OPTION.
If the shade range is your complaint, you're the problem.
Perfect! 5

I LOVE this foundation. As a dark brown girl, I have not always been able to easily find my shades. Mented has knocked it out of the park. It has a very skin-like finish, which I absolutely love. Mented, the actual company, also has wonderful customer service. I ordered directly from the company, and received the wrong shade in the tube. They sent me 4 more foundations to help find the correct shade. The 4th one was perfect. Definitely a staple now. Brown girls, this is for you!

I have bought three times from this brand not only because it is a black owned but because I love the products. At this point my collection consists of 2 foundation sticks,2 brow down pencils, medium setting powder,2 semi matte lipsticks, two liquid lipsticks, clay too much and a bronzer!I love this company and and it reflects my style. So guess what kJ and Amanda you keep putting it out and WE will support you ladies.
my perfect match!!! 5

I've always been one of those people who fell in between 2 shades when it came to foundations. I used the shade finder on their website and it matches me perfectly, no tweaking needed!!

Love the natural and smooth finish; great for my oily skin! For the commenters who want to complain about the shade range... Mented was created to help WOMEN OF COLOR and MINORITIES, who have been continuously and purposely excluded from the market in favor of white and light-skinned women. You have tens or hundreds of brands that cater to your skin color; you aren't anywhere near underprivileged. Not having a shade doesn't mean you are excluded like we are. I'm thrilled that Mented Cosmetics and Blk/Opl are at Ulta, which is probably one of the best things to happen for women who are (still) minorities in the cosmetics industry.

Loving how products are coming to Ulta with darker shade. I love it for the people who say they need a lighter shade there are plenty of products to choose from. This is awesome.

Skinlike Finish 5

For all the people complaining about the shade range welcome to the 21 century. This is what black and brown people have been dealing with for years. If you really wanted to try this foundation you'd simply go to their website and order from there. Ulta can't carry their entire shade range from the start just like any other indie brand.
But my review of this foundation is that it's a skin like finish. You almost forget you have it on. It's very creamy & spreads with a brush or a sponge. It last all day with their setting powder which reminds me Laura Mercier translucent setting powder bc of the ingredients. I would highly recommend trying this foundation stick. It's a favorite of mine, even holds up to oily skin.
5 STARS TO COUNTER ALL THE ANTI-BLACKNESS 5
Girl, good bye. from Somewhere protecting Black women.
Newsflash - this line was created by BLACK WOMEN for BIPOC that have a hard time finding shades of anything in this industry due to the gross affects of colonialism and white supremacy. Everything that exists is from a Eurocentric standard and perspective. White and white passing people not being able to find their shade here is not a reason for your entitled, self-absorbed a*ses to be rating this product low vs the actual performance of it. You have 10,000 other shades and brands that have always catered to you and will continue to cater to you to choose from. To top it off, you have the gall and audacity to use AAVE in your anti-Black review! WHEW IT'S THE OVERT AND COVERT RACISM FOR ME.
Amazingggg Stick Foundation 5
Jenny from Chicago
This is my new go-to foundation! The finish and coverage are amazing. It's also lightweight and buildable. I used the shade finder on Mented's website to help me out a bit thanks to Ms. Corona and it was spot on. I've tried other stick foundatioins but none as good as this one. Once I complete skin prep the foundation goes on really smooth using a dense foundation brush and it looks AMAZING!
P.S. Karen let's not come here leaving bad reviews for something you haven't even tried and probably never heard of before the news of Ulta picking up more Black-owned beauty brands. K? Thanks!

The foundation goes on seamlessly and is a perfect match for me. It's not cakey, applies smooth, nice silky texture, and doesn't rub off as easily as some foundations I've tried.
