One of my favorite brushes

By acooper97

from Alexandria, VA

Comments about Real Techniques Setting Brush:

I've used this brush for about 2 years. It's perfect for setting concealer under the eyes or around the nose, or for setting eye primer. It's small enough that it fits great under the eyes. I highly recommend this brush.

I own two of these! I use one for applying highlighter and one for applying setting powder under my eyes. They are super affordable, work great, and do not shed/get damaged from washing! I have owned most of my RT brushes for YEARS with no/minimal shedding.

This is the best brush I own so much so that I bought 2 more for a total of 3 and I wa t to get more. It works for liquid or powder highlight or contour, concealer either liquid or mineral powder, setting under the eyes, and blending eyeshadow. It's an amazing little brush that works for almost anything and it's small and soft enough to get into delicate areas under the eyes.

I use this with my baked E.L.F. highlighter but I find that I need to wet the brush even after scrapping off the top layer of the highlighter. After wetting the brush, the highlighter seems to pick up just fine.

                          Hi Jess,

This is such a perfect brush for loose powder highlighters! Actually, it's perfect with just about any highlighter, but I love it with my loose one since the brush head is small enough that you're not getting product everywhere, but just the right size to highlight.

                          Thanks!

Can I use this as a contour brush?
I have the sculpting brush but its too big and makes my contour look gross.
I want the contour brush from real techniques but they only sell it in a set and I don't want the full set. So this is the next brush I saw that looks similar to that one.

                          A:

                          HI celine,

If you are looking for a smaller brush head, this will definitely do it. In terms of contouring, the Setting Brush does not have the angle that some people like in terms of getting into the hollows of the cheekbones, but if you blend and apply precisely, you should be able to create a well-defined look with this.

                          Thanks!

                          A:

                          Hi T,

Thanks for your question. I love the Setting brush for a lot of things: concealer, highlighter, blending out contour lines; however, I would probably recommend a different brush for bronzer.

Because you want to create a more natural, sun-kissed look, I tend to think that larger brush heads covering a bigger area is the way to go. I love our Bold Metals Powder Brush for a bronzer and use mine every day (http://www.ulta.com/bold-metals-100-arched-powder-brush?productId=xlsImpprod11831007).

I would also recommend our Real Techniques brush for a bronzer brush as well (http://www.ulta.com/powder-brush?productId=xlsImpprod3220077). Definitely something with a lot of bristles that are "fluffier" and less concentrated for bronzer.

                          Thanks! Hope that helps!

                          Hi Yarely,

Great question! This is one of our most multi-functional brushes and I, personally, don't know how I lived without it for all these years! :)

One of the best uses for this brush is to apply highlighter when you are going for a highlight/contour look. Because of the way the bristles are cut, it doesn't pick up too much product overall. Additionally, because the bristles are synthetic (cruelty-free), it doesn't have the porous nature that real hair bristles do and you will find more product on your face, rather than staying in your brush.

Overall, I think you would be really happy with this brush used for highlighting.

                          Thanks!
