Most Helpful Positive Review B E S T sunscreen E V E R
As someone who is a very strong believer in sunscreen, this has been the very best I've tried (& i've tried A LOT). This is a physical mineral sunscreen and has 20% zinc oxide which is AMAZING. I'm not a fan of chemical sunscreens that contain Oxybenzone because it can act as a hormone in your body (ew, no thank you), so physical sunscreens are the way to go! This rubs in well, leaves no residue, is not greasy, and does not leave a dreaded white cast! I have very acne prone, sensitive skin and have had no breakouts from it like most sunscreens give me! YAY! This is a great daily sunscreen and wears well under makeup! I layer it over my moisturizer. I've used it while working outside and it wore well. I can't say enough good things about this product! The final test will be to see how it wears when I go to the beach! If it passes that test then this will definitely be a holy grail product for me!!
Most Helpful Critical Review too greasy
I bought this stuff because of its high zinc content. I'll use it on days that I don't wear makeup -- when we go to the park or gym, etc. This sunscreen is just too greasy, and it's really hard to put makeup over it. I've applied, waiting 15 minutes, and then blotted, but I'm concerned that I have to blot the entire spf off in order to have a smooth enough surface to apply my makeup.

I have been on a journey to find a wearable daily sunscreen for almost 10 years now. This is hands down the BEST I've ever tried.
I am fair, so keep this in mind, but it leaves absolutely no white cast. Every other zinc sunscreen I've used is either too thick and/or leaves an unbearable white cast. On the off chance I find one that is cosmetically elegant, it breaks me out. Not the case with this product. It feels like a moisturizer and is very hydrating—super comfy to wear all day. It does not break me out.
Others have mentioned it being a bit shiny—it is a very hydrating product. I love a dewy look so this does not bother me—but I do add some powder under my eyes and with that my complexion looks hydrated and flawless. Maybe give the powder a try if you feel you look too shiny.
Definitely worth a the money. I hope they never stop making this!
Perfect reef safe sunscreen!
Taylor from Nevada
I recently switched to this sunscreen once I found out others can hurt coral reefs, this one works perfect. Melts into the skin and leaves a nice glow. I have dry skin and this hydrates very well.
Maddie from Minnesota
This is the best sunscreen I have ever used. I used the sensitive skin one (spf 40.) Once it gets rubbed into the skin, there is no visible white cast (I do have pale skin, but I used a magnifying mirror and it looked not perfect, but quite blended.) I also have dry skin, this is hydrating and keeps moisturizer locked in without looking greasy. My skin is very sensitive and some sunscreens can sting. This was very gentle on the skin for me. Absolutely no irritation. Love this product!!
Good but super shiny
Amanda from New York
This is a good sunscreen overall. It feels pretty lightweight and I sometimes forget I'm even wearing it. It's non irritating and moisturizing. It does have a bit of a plasticy smell when first applying but that goes away quickly. It stays put really well so it's great for swimming and sweating. It's just...so...shiny. I have normal-dry skin and it just never dries down. Even after blotting, my face looks so greasy wearing this. I'll continue to use this as a beach/outdoor activity sunscreen, but I'll be looking for a different one for daily use.
Already going to rebuy!
Eli from Miami, Fl
I have brown skin and this doesn't leave a white cast on me! My old sunscreen was drying out my already dry skin and causing some "chicken skin or kp" on my arms. Switched over to this and I could feel and see the difference immediately. It leaves my skin looking and feeling normal, no shine or grease or dryness. Will be rebuying! I only use this for my body because my face is actually oily, acne proned, sensitive skin and I already have a chemical sunscreen that I love for that. So happy I found a mineral sunscreen for my body though.
FINALLY found my HOLY GRAIL sunscreen
Kalene from Temecula, CA
I've been searching for a sunscreen that is relatively inexpensive, mineral, non-greasy and non-acneic for a while. This stuff works! Its hydrating but not greasy!! It also doesn't irritate my eyes but i also don't put it directly over my eyes just around them. Chemical sunscreens are not good for your skin, they transfer the UV rays into heat whereas mineral sunscreens reflect the light like tiny mirrors. There is nothing I dislike about this sunscreen and I breakout from everything so that is saying something. It also comes with 3.5 ounces! Win-win.
C. Phan from WA
this is the sunscreen i constantly reach for everyday. it for sure leaves a white cast at first, but that's a given since it's a mineral sunscreen. i find that if i spend more time rubbing it in, a majority of the cast will go away. i have pretty oily skin and this sunscreen doesn't make it worse! in the summertime, this is the only product i apply after i cleanse my face in the morning.
My holy grail sunscreen
Cindy T from Alabama
Amazing sunscreen, perfect for my very dry, sensitive, mature skin. Leaves no white cast whatsoever (I am pale though, around NW15), dries down to a slightly dewy finish, not tacky or sticky at all. Wears nicely under makeup too. Doesn't make me itchy or red and no fragrance whatsoever. Love it.
I would buy this product again and again

under makeup and reapply after 1hour

This did not work for me.i like that it has no cast for a mineral sunscreen and that's why I gave it four stars but it stayed looking shiny on my skin and tacky to the touch so it did not dry down on my skin.
BEST SUNSCREEN EVER!
Amber from Detroit, MI
Please give this sunscreen a try! I was looking for a sunscreen I could use after my chemical peel and was skeptical after reading some of the reviews. However this sunscreen is amazing. I have extremely oily acne prone skin and I did not break out or feel greasy at all, after applying I forgot I had it on, my face felt great. There is also no stinging or irritation. I am African American with dark skin and there is NO CAST whatsoever. So if you were debating this sunscreen it is worth giving it a try for yourself.
Finally! A sunscreen that does not burn my face
RexLuther from Bridgeport, CT
This is a phenomenal sunscreen. I read the reviews and thought I'd give it a try. This is the first sunscreen that has not given me a burning sensation and it does not irritate my eyes either. If I could give it more than 5 starts I would!
Great for Body
Aurelia from NC
This stuff is awesome and protects very well, but it is just too heavy for me. It clogs the pores on my face, causing small whiteheads that go away very quickly but are just annoying. However, it is a perfect body sunscreen! I have very sensitive skin and need fragrance-free, mineral sunscreens; this fits the bill, and I'll be finishing it so it ultimately was not a waste of money. I wish Ulta would carry the Non-Tinted versions of some of their other products like the Face Prime and Protect.
Olive skinned girl
Medium Olive skin tone from CA
I think I just found my holy grail. I've been looking for a physical sunscreen above 30spf that doesn't give me white cast and I finally found it. Being medium olive skin tone, every other physical sunscreen gives me a white cast so I resorted to wearing foundation with spf. With this I don't have to do that. I feel comfortable using cotz and not having to worry about white cast.
Essential from Florida
I use this daily, with or without makeup. I have normal (sometimes combo) beige-colored skin. Just turned 37.
This works great for me! Dewy finish, doesn't slide around, doesn't burn my eyes. No break outs. No stickiness. I've been using it about 6 months.
No white cast because I put a dime-sized amount on the back of my hand and mix in my NYX skin tint, D-Bronzi, and sometimes a moisturizer before applying the concoction to my face.
Some days I will mix it with a moisturizer before applying, then put my fuller-coverage foundations on top. Throughout the day it looks dewy and fresh.
I break out same day from chemical sunscreens and other physical sunscreens can dry me out. This one has been amazing! No breakouts! No sunburns!
Only one my skin is happy with
Happy from PA
After years of not using sunscreen because of breakouts, I was determined to find one I could use. I am surprised it is this one - I mean the ingredient list made me hesitant, but there aren't harmful preservatives. If you expect skin care to absorb immediately then you shouldn't try this. I have very dry skin and I actually like to have a moist effect and slow absorption. Using twice a day and applying in a patting motion, after other good products has significantly improved my skin.
Minimal whitecast, mildy greasy, HIGH UVA PROTECTIOB
kktea from Roseville, CA
I've been using this since late November and still probably have about half left after daily use (I apply about a nickel-sized amount to my whole face). It's not "the perfect" sunscreen, but man after buying and hating 3+ chemical sunscreens from other brands (both western and asian) and breaking out super bad with all of them (probably sensitive to those chemical uv filters), I'm happy to have found a mineral one that doesn't make my skin angry.
I'm Asian with tan, warm and olive toned skin, and this does give me a slight whitecast upon first application. But after rubbing/patting it in and letting it sink in, I don't see the white anymore, and others in my life have said they can't see it either. All that's left is oiliness/greasiness. Nothing blotting or a little powder can't fix. I know this probably takes some of that precious spf off, but the way I see it, as long as you let it sit and "set" for a bit, and you're gentle with the blotting and powder, you hopefully shouldn't disturb it too much (fingers crossed!!). Either way, some sunscreen is better than no sunscreen.
If you're thinking of purchasing this, just ask yourself what other options are out there for you and if this checks all your boxes. For me, I needed a mineral sunscreen that was reef safe and fungal acne (FA) safe. Also high uva protection (20% zinc oxide with such little whitecast is honestly amazing to me), minimal whitecast, and slightly dewy (i like the oiliness, so I just blot gently and let the dew shine). As for it being FA safe, it's not officially, but it doesn't make me flare up and when it was at it's worst, my FA didn't seem to mind this sunscreen. As I said, this won't be the perfect sunscreen for some, but for me it's checking off a lot of my boxes and it gives me exactly what I need - no more or less. I'm only giving it four stars because I know some skin tones may have a more obvious whitecast, and some definitely won't like the oiliness as much. Otherwise it's a 5 for me

This product blends very easily and dries transparent. It's great for everyday use. Might be a little too heavy to use on the face if you have oily skin. Excellent overall!
Erika from Houston
I applied this product and after maybe 30 minutes of being outside, I burned SO bad with it. It's so bad that my skin got an allergic reaction after the sunburn. I do not recommend this product for anything. Btw, I've never been allergic to anything in my life!
Great protection, awful sheen, very dry feeling
Shaun from Baltimore, MD
I'll keep this sunscreen around for beach days and hiking trips, but never in a million years would I make this part of my daily routine. Despite making my skin feel incredibly dry and tight, the sunscreen gives my face an egregiously greasy sheen.
Re-applying this feels disgusting, and trying to remove it at night is even worse.
The only benefit I've found is that it's incredibly gentle around the eyes.
Not what I'm looking for
miss_bacon from Berkeley, CA
I had previously used at CoTz sunscreen and loved the silky matte finish, but not the tint, nor how dry it seemed to make my skin. I opted for this as it seemed somewhat more hydrating and was nontinted, but am unfortunately unimpressed. The sunscreen really feels like it "sits" on top of your skin, even 8-10 hours later; it's incredibly difficult to blend into the skin, makes my skin feel tacky, and has a surprisingly shiny/greasy finish that doesn't go away. The first time I wore it, I thought it wasn't absorbing right because of the serum I was using, but I tried it on freshly washed skin and still struggled to blend it in or have it absorb at all. It's not all bad news - despite being a white, mineral sunscreen, it didn't leave a white cast on my skin, didn't sting when applied to dry/sensitive areas, and the staying power would be nice if you're planning on working up a major sweat. But for day to day, and especially under makeup, I really do not recommend this product.

I bought this for my husband because he has sensitive skin. it didn't make him break out which was great. but it's really hard to apply. it's very thick and the white color is hard to rub in.
Jj from Na
Goes on greasy looking. Dries out skin over time. Difficult to remove when washing face bc of the all the silicones it never comes off of skin
Not horrible sunscreen, not great either
ctaec from Alabama
This sunscreen is thick, greasy (greasy going on and stays that way), and looks awful under makeup. It also leaves a whitecast that never dissipates either. It does have a nice chunk of zinc oxide (20%), and is 100% mineral. It is water resistant and seems to stay on the skin a long time, but it's also hard to remove, even from your hands after you apply it. It leaves a weird waxy film or something. Also, I have very sensitive skin, and honestly I didn't notice a difference in this sunscreen than all the other mineral ones i've used (mineral sunscreens tend to be better for sensitive skin inherently anyway). Would not repurchase.
Kappy from San Jose, CA
I needed a sunscreen that would handle my skin disorder. On paper, this looked to be exactly what I needed. Unfortunately, after 1 use I totally reacted badly and never used again.
