Most Helpful Positive Review SO happy to have found this product
My hairdresser had used it the night before she did my hair, and I complimented her tan (it just looked like she had just gotten back from vacation), and when she said it was from a bottle I couldn't believe it. I had NEVER had good luck with that (and had not tried in several years). So I got brave and tried it that night, and the next day I had family photos! It worked GREAT!!!!! I have had so many compliments, and no one could tell it was from a bottle/spray. :)
Most Helpful Critical Review Not impressed
This was my first time trying St. Tropez and I have some mixed feelings. I'm an experienced tanner, however this one was a struggle. The smell of this is very perfumey. That perfume smell lasts for the entire 8 hours and only gets worse as the developing DHA mixes with the smell of my ex's grandma's perfume to really assault the senses. Be prepared for difficult application. You are going to blend until your arm muscles hurt. Apply in a cold room or use it as hot yoga. Either way, prepare accordingly. The guide is a black-green color. I can't leave the house with this on. This is streaky, dark and insane looking if you're lighter skinned. Maybe if your skin tone is already quite deep, you could put this on in the morning and go, but not otherwise. I have applied this twice now. The first time, I used the mitt St. Tropez offers, left it on for 8 hours hours, rinsed and was the most delightful combination of shades that I have ever turned from a self tanner. Orange with black, ashy looking patches. Very tiger-y. However, this isn't Halloween and I was not going for that specific look this time. The second time, I used a kabuki brush for almost everything. I really globbed the stuff on this time. Do not skimp. If it looks like it's pulling the tanner away from your skin while your attempting to blend, just keep blending. I only left the product on for 4 hours the second time, while awake. The first time, it looked like cocoa powder exploded in my bed. I also used lotion on my entire body prior to applying the second time, which I know is usually a no-no, but the finish was so odd the first time, I wanted to try this. This mousse is sticky and never feels fully dry on my skin. I powdered up like I was about to slide into a gimp suit. That helped. The 4 hour results are perfect. Even my feet, hands and wrists! It took about 14 hours for the color to fully develop. Color is natural, no streaks. Frigging lot of work though! For the price, they should send a dude to help.

I love how the color looks. Natural looking and dark on me. I have VERY dry skin, so I'm not sure if that's why it is so hard to blend, but it is a struggle. It wants to cling to any dryness, no matter how much I've moisturized beforehand.
not even dark
brynn from minneapolis
it went on even but wasn't too dark. it's like the same as the express tanning mouse
Do not buy!
Carrie from Blacksburg Virginia
I've used sunless tanners for 20 years and this is the absolute worst product ever. I read the reviews and for the price I had high expectations. The application was shocking. Absolutely dark green stain all over my body. You can not leave the house with this on. Think Incredible Hulk from the 80's. I kept thinking maybe in 8 hours when so finally get to wash off this dark green splotchy stain I'll be impressed. No color change at all after all of that. Returned product immediately and am very disappointed. Who in the world would be ok with this product...I can't imagine.
Great color, not orange at all!
MyBeauty318 from Bossier City, La
The color was beautiful, not orange at all like so many.
Great product - highly recommend

After using 5+ different tanning products, I have found the one. This product gives me a tan that looks like i've been at the beach for 5 days after just one use. Although it is pricey, it is worth the money. I always but this product when I have rewards to use or if I have a coupon. I have already bought my third bottle and I only discovered this product about a year ago. I use the St. Tropez mitt with this product and it applies like a dream. The color can be very intimidating when first applied, but if applied evenly, it will rinse away in the morning and give you a beautiful, even looking tan. I always apply this before bed and rinse it off in the morning. 10/19 recommend!
Honest Review by a serious tanner
RS from Vermont
I have tried SO many self tanning foams, some include the entire St. Tropez Line, Loving tan, Coco & Eve, etc. The product goes on a crazy dark green color that can cause panic tbh but once it's processed and rinsed off my skin looks flawless. I was hesitant about the "ultra dark" aspect of this considering how light my skin gets in the winter but was pleasantly surprised by how nice and not crazy the color of my skin was. I also get very grossed out by the sweet fragrance of most foams and this one is at least bearable. The fade is even but happens rather fast (under a week) that would be my only complaint. Also it comes off a bit on sheets and clothes after the initial rinse. 10/10 would still recommend.
Not good. Waste of money
LuLu from Michigan
This self tanner has so many flaws it really is not worth the money. It turned me literally green, I had thought it would just wash off in the shower but instead the super dark color guide washed off along with the tan and I was still pale with a green tint to my skin. No color pay off for the price. If your looking to be super dark try bondi sands ultra dark It is much darker, natural, and so much cheaper.

Sooooo streaky and hard to blend! I have used the 3 hour express one for over a year and it worked perfectly but I wanted to try a darker one, and I hate this one!
Soooo streaky :/
Emma from USA
Normally I love st. Tropez products but this stuff was disappointing. It dries too quickly so it's really hard to make even, a tanning mitt doesn't help either. I really tried to make it work but it wasn't happening. The express tan they sell looks 100x better and goes on so well get that one and save yourself the frustration and $.

Love the green base which counters the pink in skin for perfect tan look & no orange. Love love love.
Why is it green?
Amy from Rocklin Ca
I've purchased this product many times before and absolutely loved it, however the last bottle I bought has a strong green tint to it. After a shower the green is gone and a good tan is there, but that first day is a little rough. I will still continue to buy it as there isn't another tanner that I like better.
It was just alright
Carrie from Columbus ohio
The color was just alright and it went on green. It just wasn't worth the money
This is my 15th time repurchasing
Mon from New York City
I have bought this product 15 times and will buy it 15 more times. Planning on self tanning into winter because this is so easy to use.
Better than loving tan in my opinion
Britdub from Smyrna, Ga
I have used this a few times now and I converted from Lovingtan which has a red base to it. St. Tropes has an olive base so you don't end up looking orange. I shave, exfoliate, moisturize day 1 and then day 2 I use the foam and leave it on for 8 hours. Boom! I go from Casper to Greek goddess! Thank you for this product.
Must already have base tan
Liv from New York
In the summer when I have a base tan this product looks so much better and real and wears much better
product turned me green

Left me with barely any color and the little that it did was gone after two days
Megan from Missouri
I've used this product before and I loved it. After so finished my bottle, I bought another one. Went to use it and I was green. I was sad it wasn't the same good experience I had the first time. The price point is not worth inconsistency. I've been using the Bondi Sands aero in ultra dark and it's basically identical to St. Tropez when it actually isn't green.
This is great stuff!!
Crystin from Tennessee
Okay, it needs to be disclosed that this is a highly transferable tanner when applied. This is a tanner that needs to process 8 hours (at home) through the day, or overnight. Towels or a designated sheet should be used to sleep on. It washes out perfectly (it WILL be on your clothes but come out completely), so unless you are washing your sheets the next day, I just wouldn't. It is very splotchy when you first apply (and that is quite alright!). It has a lot of green (which I LOVE LOVE!!!), and this counteracts red and orange tones. I'm Indian and tan very red...ugh. With THIS stuff, I don't look orange at all, like with other tanners. During my morning shower, it looks like I'm washing mud off my entire body...water is super brown for about a minute. When I step out of that shower....WOW!!!!! ZERO streaking, ZERO sploching, ZERO orange!! It's GORGEOUS!!!! I hope they never stop making this. It's more work, with this particular tanner, but the outcome is darker and better looking (AFTER shower) than anything you can buy!
Has it's downsides, but still the best on the market.
Ally from Dallas
This shade is NOT for the faint of heart. It should only be used by experienced self-tanners as it is very dark, and you have to work quickly. However, after trying many products I still believe it's the best on the market.
Colez from MT
I've tried tons of self tanning products. This is by far my favorite. Easy to use. No order.
Best by far
Apsblm1013 from Tennessee
The negative comments almost made me pass this product up, but I am glad I gave it a try. I like the classic St. Tropez mousse but it's was never dark enough for me. This goes on crazy dark but when washed off, it gives a beautiful even tan. Definitely my new go to tanning regimen!
LOVE IT- works if you actually read and follow directions
D from Chicago, IL
I'm OBSESSED with this. The trick is to really read and follow the directions. You need to exfoliate (and shave) and moisturize 24 hour prior to applying it. This gives your pores time to close back up so that the tan doesn't just fade immediately after rinsing. I've done it 5 hours before too and still had great results. I take a cold shower (just water) after the wait time is over to help close my pores and rinse off any moisturizer or body wash, because those tend to leave a film on your skin which will cause uneven application and developing (we don't like patchy tans). I would moisturize your hands and feet prior to applying because it likes to take on to those the most and looks crazy. Your lotion will help it not stick as much to hands and feet. Then I let it process for 12 hours or so, rinse it off with cold water and body wash, and it's the perfect natural color. If you're looking for a bodybuilder tan, this isn't it, but if you want something natural and bronzy this is perfect. I included before and after pics. Orange dress is no tan, blue dress is after washing it off.
My go to
Aubrey from CA
I have tried all the self tanners... I love that this is a green hue NOT ORANGE. That's the point of the green tint.. I'd say only purchase if you're an experienced self tanner. The only thing I'd say is I have received bottles with faulty pumps only in this shade.
I will not buy this again!
Michelle from Apopka, FL
Hated it! Even after scrubbing with a loofah it still came off on my clothes.
