I've started doing my own gel nails at home to save money from having to go the salon every 2 weeks.. I did my first official gel manicure a week ago, and the polish looks just as good as Day 1. This lamp really does cure the polish (on all 5 fingers at the same time!) in 30 seconds (I believe that it is recommended to cure dark colors for 45 seconds). A couple of things I learned after a practice run: (1) apply VERY thin coats of the gel polish, base, and top coat because if you don't, the polish will pool around your nail bed (2) make sure that you don't get any polish on the cuticles. Wipe off the excess polish BEFORE curing in the lamp. You may need 3 very thin coats for darker colors, even though the bottle says 2 coats.
This is NOT 36 watts. That's a lie. It's 18 watts. Flimsy, poor quality, literally NO features. One, wobbly, flimsy button. Period. Not even remotely "Pro" quality. There are far better units available, in terms of quality, features, and strength, for half the price of this toy. I can't imagine this item will last very long. It's just that lame...and wildly overpriced.

I had this under a year and it simply stopped working. It's my second RedCarpet Nails lamp that died. No more I purchased a Gelish lamp and it's been going strong.

This lamp and all red carpet products work great. My last gel manicure lasted for 4 weeks and I still had to soak off as they were not lifting at all. I have been doing my own gel for 5+ years now as my nail tech moved away and closed his salon. I previously used a different brand light and it was no where near as good as this one, I have been using this light for about a year now. I have used this with multiple brands of polish and have never had issues with curing. I would gladly buy this again and have recommended it to several friends that also do their own gel. I do my thumbs separately but it doesn't take much extra time. This is also great for gel pedicures! Overall I am extremely pleased with this product and the brand overall. I feel that some users that were displeased with this it could of been more user error or may have been using polish that was old.

Does not cure well

Most times the light will cure the polish just fine. A handful of times with certain polishes it will not fully cure and create weird bubbles (see picture). I know it is the fault of the light because I'm and esthetician and will use certain polishes at work that cure just fine with a professional light and then not cure when I bring it home and use this light.

You have to keep pushing the button to restart the light. You will need at least 2min. Usually you will need 3min

I use this at home and was worried at first it wouldn't turn out too well from a few reviews I read before. However , I think the bad reviews were just from people who unfortunately purchased a few defective ones. Very happy with my results.

I've had this light for over two years and have never had an issue. I do my nails about once a week. And typically cure 1-2 times per layer.

I love it I've been using it for almost a year now and I am impressed specially for the price of it.

so glad I got this machine. I do recommend doing 45 seconds on base and color coats. 2 minutes on the top coat. I also do thumbs first then the fingers. otherwise the paint gets goofy on the thumbs.

I can fit my whole hand so I don't have to do my thumbs separately like smaller models. This cuts out quite a bit of time. Also, it is truly LED so you don't have to worry about burning fair skin.

Worst system made. Would not go on smoothly & would not dry properly

I would give this lamp 100 stars if i could. I am a professional Nail Tech/Cosmetologist in the state of WI. Starting out 6 years ago this is what I could afford. It has never let me down. I use all different brands of gel polish with this lamp and everything cures perfect. Some clients think it motion censored and try and wiggle their hands to make it go on again, some like to push the button and cure two times while I polish the other hand. But I know that with just one time of curing it is good to go! :)

I don't like to spend a ton of money on getting my nails done. I used a portable gel light previously and it took FOREVER! This machine may be a little pricey to start, but it will save me a TON of money. I love this brand and can't recommend this LED highly enough. After thinking about it for months, I'm glad I finally bought it.

I've used this lamp once a week for a year and a half and it's still going strong. No issues.

...to regular polish or the salon! this thing is amazing. I don't splurge on things for myself very often but I'm glad I did with this amazing little gem.
Now if only RCM would work on adding more fun colors and color accuracy to their polish line...

I bought this on a whim with my points and OMG I am SHOCKED! I have spent so much money on gel manicures at the salon and unfortunately they never last more than a week to a week and a half. I finally decided to do my own nails in an effort to save money but I HATE waiting for regular polish to dry. Cue this lamp, which is definitely the way to go. First off - it's LED and safe to use. Second, the instructions that come with it are easy to follow and the entire process only takes me about 45 mins to an hour (same as the salon.) This lamp easily fits your entire hand (or foot) and I normally cure each step for two 30 second cycles for perfect nails. I purchased the lamp, the detail tool kit (mostly to help clean up any errant polish), the starter kit and a variety of polishes. Each mani I've done with this has looked amazing, lasted just as long as my salon ones, and left my nails in decent shape when it was removed. Overall I am SO happy with this product and will be recommending it to everyone I know. Do not hesitate to buy this!!!

Okkkkayyyyy. I read a million and one reviews before I bought this thing, and I am honestly shocked. A saw a lot of reviews that claimed that the polish never dried, chipped easily, etc., but I am going to call that a "user error." I have been getting bi-weekly gel mani's for a few years, and I was not always satisfied with the result. I am fairly talented at painting my own nails (right hand included!), but didn't have the supplies to do anything but a normal easy-chipping mani. If you have ever gotten a gel mani before and know how the process works, then this is for YOU. I did it exactly how my salon does, and ended up with a perfect manicure. I kept thinking the whole time how much money I was going to save in the long run with this!! I also purchased the essentials set and two polishes to start. I can say you don't NEED everything in the intro set, but the directions helped. Keep in mind that the bottles are smaller than normal polish bottles. But, like I said, if you're fairly good at painting your own nails and are ready to up the ante, this is a dang good buy.

Quick question, can other brand name gel polishes be used or is red carpet get nail polish the only compatible one? Red carpet doesn't have a huge selection of nail polishes so wanted to look at other brands. But, overall it works well and you save a lot of money in the long run!

I bought this when I had a coupon, so it brought the price down. In my town, there's only a few beauty stores, and I couldn't pay hundreds for a lamp. I could have ordered one, but I really wanted to get one immediately. This is an 18 watt LED lamp which is better than the others sold at large retail stores or in kits. Those are usually 6 or 7 watt LED. So this cuts down time in curing. So far I'm loving it. I think the price is steep, however, it's hard to find affordable higher watt lamps in stores. It gets the job done very well.

I like that I can do my nails at home now.

Be careful when curing all five fingers at once - angling your thumb during curing increases the likelihood of the polish running and curing unevenly. I always, always cure my thumbs together and then each hand separately! I am very sad that this brand recommend anything other than that!
