Rated 3.94 out of 5 stars
Most Helpful Positive Review It is a fair value.
It does what it claims to do best - not make a mess, come off in your (or partners!) fingers, not dirty your pillows. However, I gave it a 4 star because it doesn't cover the gray easily. I have to keep applying it to really cover my roots. I like the coverage of a spray better but my scalp felt crunchy!
Most Helpful Critical Review It works but . . .
It works but it smudges off on everything and takes a lot more than I thought it would to cover the gray. If you typically put your sunglasses on top of your head when not wearing them, you might want to rethink that. The hair color will get on the bottoms of the sunglasses and leave colored rings on your face the next time you put on your sunglasses. If you don't touch your hair - or have a toddler who likes to touch everything, including your hair, especially when she realizes you don't *want* her to touch your hair - then the product will probably work fine for you. To me it also seemed messy; little flecks would fly all over when I was applying it (getting the product on the brush). It's not for me based on the above reasons, but it is a cool idea. Maybe the formula could be improved so it doesn't transfer quite so easily.

The root touch-up doesn't work. I wish it did, but it doesn't. Don't waste your money as I did.

The color worked out. I wasn't completely happy with the coverage (although a touch up) or the feel it left on my hair
Best Root Touch Up
Melissa W from SAN RAMON, CA
It was so easy and quick to apply when I was in a hurry. The color looked natural and it stayed all day. Also, I loved that if I got some on my skin I could easily wipe it off. I used to use another brand that looked like a mascara and if I had my hair in a ponytail and I used it to cover my grays, I would have to re-do my ponytail. Not good when you're in a hurry!! Madison Reed's Root Touch Up is the BEST!!
Angela D from WESTERVILLE, OH
Was hoping this would help extend my color just a little bit longer between root retouches but it is no match for stubborn greys. I only gave the second star because it might have tinted them a little bit?
Root touch up!
Suzanne D from SAINT HELENA ISLAND, SC
Love this product. It is easy to use and it covered all my grays.

I like it
Works great for eyebrows too
Sharon F from STRASBURG, CO
I used to fill in my sparse eyebrows and like it better than my eyebrow pencil. Haven't used on my part yet as I just colored but I know it will probably work just as well.
Worst beauty purchase ever.
Jen from Kentucky
Will color my scalp but doesn't even begin to cover my grays no matter my application technique. Such a disappointment.
Touch up powder

Great for quick touch up

Blends really well with hair color

It actually does not work at all for me. Does not cover my roots at all
Sharon M from PORTER RANCH, CA
I absolutely love this product! I wanted to stretch out the time between colors, and this is the perfect product to help touch up my gray roots. It has helped me to extend the time between colors, and really helps to fill in thinning areas and cover up gray. I love it and will definitely purchase again.
The Only Madison Reed Product Fail
JR B from FOREST HILLS, NY
The Root Touch-Up Powder was matched to my Ombra Brown color and is the antithesis of the dimensional hair color for which Madison Reed succeeds in producing. It doesn't cover well and "reads" as flat. I do have resistant white hair, but my less expensive drug store creme with several shades for brown hair is more natural looking.
Root touch up

It didn't work on my hair. Didn't cover the root even a little bit.
Root Touch Up for in-between hair dyes
Mimi L from SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA
I like it! Great way to darken white hair in between hair dyes. It doesn't cover my whites around my temples completely, but it lessens the obvious whites.
Rachel's Review from Gainesville, FL
Pass on this one. This product doesn't do much & you have to use quite a bit to see any pay out. I wouldn't recommend & will not repurchase.
It really works!
Jeanne T from LAWRENCE, KS
It really does just brush on those grays (roots and crown a big problem!) and stays until you wash it out. It is much better than the over-the-counter powder I had been using. Well worth the cost because this lasts a long time!
Not sure what to put here.

I found this touch up product failed to provide any coverage of my roots.
Not worth the price
Rookmin S from QUEENS VILLAGE, NY
Deeply disappointed- color match was horrible - my hair color came out jet black although I am a medium brown l am deeply disappointed . I did follow their instructions to the letter . Now I will have to go to a salon to get this ugly color removed from my hair . What a waste of money . I have used fore bought color and had gotten great results.
coverage not so great
D T from DAVIS, CA
This was not as dark as I thought it would be. I also used hairspray on clean hair before applying as suggested. It still did not cover all that well.
Grechen G from TROUTMAN, NC
Can't seem to get it covered too well with the brush. Color is fine. It just doesn't cover well.
Root Touch Up Powder
Krystal H from SAN BERNARDINO, CA
EDIT: Much thanks to MR for reaching out to offer their assistance. A+ for their customer service and kindness. Unfortunately this only dulls the shininess of the gray, but does not actually cover it up. I'm disappointed this is not a returnable product. Buyer beware.
