I disagree with the negative comments. I travel a lot and specifically bought this for that. I find bathroom lighting to be horrible in hotels, especially overseas. I want the lights to be bright! The mirror came with a case. If you put the mirror in the case you don't have to worry about it opening. I always pack makeup carefully so I've never had a problem with anything breaking either
2 serious design flaws 2
Mary from TN
I was really excited to try this out on my last trip and ended up with sad broken eye shadows. The biggest design flaw is that the case does not stay closed. It slid open and half of my eye shadows were damaged from other products in my makeup bag. The other flaw, not as bad but annoying, is that the "on" button for the light is extremely sensitive so there is no way the light will not be activated (and the battery worn out) by the time you get to your destination. Great idea but poor execution, especially if you want to travel with this.
Nifty mirror 4

Let's start with the pros. It's compact but holds enough for a trip away, and while I've yet to take it on a flight, it seems sturdy. The cloth cover it comes with is a tight fit, but after a few uses it's not that hard to get it in and out. The charging cable is easily knocked loose, so at first I was going to return it, thinking what good is a travel mirror if I have to charge it every day. Then I realized I needed to firmly insert the cable and be careful when laying it down, and now I've gone a couple months without needing to charge it (I use it every other weekend, probably 15-20min each time). This is much better than worrying about changing out batteries on my previous mirror. Lastly, LOVE the swivel ability. I got this product because I wanted a mirror that is rechargeable, but also my previous one only had 3 angles you could set it at. This one gives you complete control both vertically and horizontally.
As for the cons, like others have mentioned, the lights ARE super bright even on the dimmest setting, and due to the small size they're kind of just in your eyes. My workaround is setting up near a window and letting natural light in, so the contrast isn't as bad. Still not a very pleasant experience for someone as nearsighted as me though; my face is practically plastered to the mirror. I haven't experienced issues with it sliding open and exposing my makeup when not in use, but I feel like you could just use a rubber band or something to keep it shut if it's that big of a problem. Recently, the touch sensor has been finicky, but I'm not sure if it's faulty mechanics or my skin texture changing due to the season. My husband can usually turn it on for me though, so I'm inclined to say it's just the cold weather making it hard for me to use sensitive things like this.
Blinded by the light! 2
Steph from Ridgway pa
Great quality & would have been perfect if the lights were not so bright. They are so bright you can not look at your self even on lowest setting. Even in the dark its too bright. The cloth holder is so small that it's hard to squeeze into it. I'm really disappointed in this & dont recommend. I was so excited for this.
Just ok 3

I really wanted this to work but I agree with the other comment about the lights. It's blinding and you have to put it up close to your face to actually see what you're doing. The mirror swivels which is good and bad. There is no magnet on the end to actually hold the closure so when you close it and if you're not careful and swivel it by accident your makeup will be exposed.
very innovative 3

I wanted to love this! it is unique, it is compact and light...but the lights are so narrowly spaced, they literally hit my irises and blind me. it didnt matter what setting I used (the only one that didnt hurt was without the lights, but then what's the point?). i had to return it
Best mirror for doing makeup on the go 5

This mirror is my favorite to travel with because I can keep all my favorite products in one place- no more heavy makeup bag when traveling! It also gets really bright, so I never have to worry about the lighting at hotels. Definitely worth the $$!
