Most Helpful Positive Review MET MY EXPECTATIONS.
This hair dryer paired PERFECTLY with my "Drybar: The Bouncer Diffuser" which you can find online only.
The blowdryer is QUIET; I was able to blow dry my hair at 11:30 p.m. and it didn't disturb my toddler (I style my hair in the bedroom).
It is also LIGHTWEIGHT; the length of my hair is down to my tailbone and is thick. I blow dried my hair for 20 min (Med. heat/Cold shot; Low speed) and my arm never got tired.
My hair was 85% dry (I didnt want to overheat my scalp so I air dried the rest for about another hour). I prefer this method to airdrying my hair for 6+ hours and lookong like a zombified-stiff-wet-mop for most of it..!
This dryer has a GOOD DESIGN; sometimes the placement of the buttons is a concern since poor placement/design will have you unintentionally changing the settings, but that wasn't an issue for me at all. Also, the chord is really long and comfortable to work with.
ADDRESSING CONS FROM OTHER REVIEWS:
I notice one of the cons on many other reviews is that there is "not enough heat" but keep in mind this has IONIC technology.
Ionic: the hair dryer creates negative ions that help break down water molecules before they soak in your hair.
Therefore heat is not the primary/sole technology contributing to drying your hair.
Another con is that it is "poor quality" but that might be a prejudice towards a lightweight product. I guess the buttons are a bit cheap-looking (not enough for me to mind), but the dryer itself is smooth and sleek. The attachments this dryer came with were better quality than Conair.
After doing my research on hair dryers I chose this dryer and diffuser over the Devacurl. I'm happy with my results and the fact that I spent $50 less.
HAIR STYLING PRODUCTS I USE:
1.Cantu Moisturizing Twist & Lock Gel
2.SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curling Gel Souffle

Needs to Simply dry my hair and be dependable. Purchased at Ulta because they said it was Light weight for Travel, and for my shoulder injury. 1st one stopped working in 6 months, and I thought it was just a fluke, so I exchanged it for another. 2nd one made a grinding noise after the first month, and they said that never happens, and exchanged it for another, while I was on a trip. Now the 3rd one doesn't even get Warm or Hot...just COLD AIR. I was on another business trip, and I couldn't even dry my hair. It's going back, and obviously I will not purchase a hair dryer from ULTA again. This was completely UNDEPENDABLE, and it takes so much time to box it up, and go to the store, and go through the inconvenience of the return process. Please Stop carrying this really poor quality item. There are so many bad reviews on it. Just source and carry a quality hair dryer...it's so Important to the Customer. If you're going to be in that business...Listen to the Customer, and do it right...Every Time. On the Bright Side, the store is Beautiful, and the Staff is Friendly. Ulta, does so many things well, and they really need to remember that the quality of their products makes an impression on every Customer, every time.

All Hot Tools Hair dryers short out electronically in base of dryer above handle. Nice product but a dryer should last a long time. Very disappointed!
Believe the reviews
RJC from OH
Dryer worked for 18 months. Now I see I should've listened to the reviews about the loud noise.
Getting used to it
Roxie from Louisiana
Not used to a dryer that doesn't feel like its blowing but it does dry quickly. New technology!
LT from Chicago
I used to only buy Solano driers, which are excellent and have 10+ years lifespan but these driers are heavy and constant everyday use for 30+ years is enough. I love this little but powerful dryer!
Will Not Buy Hot Tools Again
GGee60 from TN
Bought this dryer 13 months ago. Warranty is for one year. Like others said in their comments it became noisy and then stopped working. After my experience and reading other reviews I will search for another brand. I have had hair dryers last 3 years at a cheaper price.
I think I'm finally done with Hot Tools products
Wendy from massachusetts
Purchased 14 months ago. It's used by two people daily and has been good, but today the rocker switch for the speed stopped working. There is only a high speed option now.
The dryer we had before this also broke a little over a year old, but on that one, it was the heat switch that failed so that we only had a high heat option.
No more Hot Tools.
Fast drying and quiet!
mamabear4116 from Arnold, MO
I have thick, curly/wavy hair and it would take me, what seemed like forever, to get my hair dry. And my kids and husband are usually still asleep while I'm getting ready for work. Since buying this new blow dryer, it has cut my drying time nearly in half and is quiet (for a blow dryer) and the kids and my husband don't really even hear it when I start it up in the mornings. Best one I've ever purchased/owned!
Not Worth It
Left with no Hair Dryer from Columbus, OH
This was very light weight, but broke after a few months of use. I think the fan broke because a piece of plastic fell out onto my floor.
Alliek from Akron Ohio
Gets nice and hot but has lower setting
Light in weight..Heavy in power
Queen D from Fort Lauderdale Florida
I bought this for its light weight. There were more expensive ones but this was reasonably priced and felt good in my hand. It is Ion so it dried my short hair quickly without trying the ends. Very happy with it.
FeW from WA
Needed something to get me started while I learn to style hair and this works perfect. Great size, material is very sleek, and the extension pieces work well.
Makes horrible noise
Liz from Philadelphia
Like many others, mine recently began making a high pitched grinding noise on high speed and has now started making the noise on low as well. I took it apart and it appears the plastic fan has begun to fall apart. No hair or lint inside. I've had it for just over 2 years. I loved it before this happened!
Love how lightweight it is
Simplyfox from Broken Arrow
It's so lightweight. Love it!
Broke within a year
JR from Middletown DE
I love the weight of this dryer but suddenly it stopped getting hot. Still blows air but it's cold. Very disappointed in this product.
Broke after a year!
Eddy from Arlington, Tx
I loved this hair dryer at first!! I really took good care of it & cleaned out the back filter to try to maintain its life span. Sadly the heat setting has stopped working and it's making a horrible grinding noise when placed on the "High" setting.
Cindy from Fredericksburg, VA
I love this blow dryer because it is so light to hold.
Jes from New Jersey
I had it for a little over a year and while it was great, it started making a grinding sound on the high setting. It also had a burnt smell when I used anything but the cool setting. Very sad, this was a great hair dryer.
Great for the few months it worked
Poorly made from California
I bought this dryer because I had other Hot Tools brand things in the past that I loved - This dryer worked great for about 2 months, then started making a weird noise and the entire dryer got so hot it scalded my hand. Disappointed for sure. Seems like such a waste of money for a few months.
Super lite but broke within a year
KarriG from Manassas
This dryer was GREAT until the heating element broke within the year.
Didn't Last Long
The Long and Short of it from Chattanooga, TN
This was a good hairdryer... while it worked. I really liked the variable heat settings and it had a balanced feel in my hand. It was very lightweight and dried my hair quickly. Unfortunately, the dryer started making loud grinding noises after I'd only had it for about 18 months. The warranty was only good for 12 months. I definitely expected to have this hairdryer a lot longer, as I don't purchase styling tools frequently and was ultimately disappointed that it stopped working so soon.
Lasted less than 3 years
emily from nashville, tn
Love this hairdryer but it lasted less than 3 years and I barely even used it. I only dry my hair when its cold outside... most of the time I let it airdry... dissapointed.
TJ from Alabama
I was so excited about this hair dryer when I got it! For a while it was great! High powered, very hot and the light weight feature was nice. But after having it for about 15 months, it started to loose its power, and then it started making this cranking/grinding noise and was scary to use. So I had to trash it. Which was disapointing. Because, for me, it wasn't very cheap, and I expected to have it for many years.
I would buy this again
none from none
It dries very quickly and saves my arm because it is so light !!!!! LOVE IT!!!!
Died just after the warranty period
Disappointed from Illinois
I was very happy with this at first, but about 12 months in it started losing heat and could hear the interior struggling and sparking. It died after 13 months. The dyer I bought this to replace from Sally's lasted a solid 10 years. I will not be purchasing another of this brand.
Kelalex from BIrmingham
I've had this hair dryer for maybe a year. It just started making a loud weird noise and I am afraid to use it anymore!
