Most Helpful Positive Review GOOD FOR WOMEN OF COLOR ALSO! I read the reveiws on this powder before I purchased it. Needless to say the reviews were good, so I thought I would try it. I AM SOOOOO HAPPY I DID!! This stuff is like magic! You think because it is white that it would show up white on your skin, but it doesn't. You have to use the right brush to apply it, and when you do, all the shiny areas become matte and smooth! I use the #188 brush and it works wonders for this powder! I would recommend using the 188 after I purchased it as a suggestion from a MAC representative on a live chat. This powder is great, but be careful because it is messy. It is expensive so you defiinitely would not want to waste it, but it is a very good setting powder. I actually prefer to use this over my foundation rather than my mineralize. And if you are a women of color (I am brown skinned not really dark), it looks great and gives my skin an air brushed look. I wish that the packaging was a little different, but hey....then it would not be a "loose" powder maybe?? Its worth every penny!! ;-)
Most Helpful Critical Review Good for nose area not for under eye area! I have an oily nose and sometimes the studio fix foundation does not stay matte on my nose; however, with the transparent finishing powder it stays looking matte.I do not recommend using it as setting the under eye area because when taking photographs with the flash, the under eye area will look white as paper!

I highly recommend MAC Prep & Prime Transparent Finishing Powder to any consumer interested in purchasing. I have been using this regularly as a part of my makeup routine for a decade now, I don't intend to stop in the near future either. This product is good quality, the item holds make up in place for a generous amount of time. I would recommend getting a brush to apply and a finishing spray to set it off!
Love this powder 4

I have very oily skin and also have to wear sunscreen due to the area I live in, needless to say my skin needs this power to stay looking matte all day long. It effortlessly removes the shine and keeps my foundation on all day, mind you I do pair it with a finishing spray and while I am blending my foundation I spray my beauty blender with some prep and prime to make sure that ish goes no where. Have even done the walk of shame and walk out looking like I had just reapplied my makeup... don't judge, y'all know you have been there and done that also haha. Bottom line one of the top transparent powders in my makeup bad. Also just as an FYI I remove the black cap that allows me full access to the powder.
The only finishing powder I use 5

Covers scars and mild acne well.
Worst loose powder ever! 1
Chicaloca from San Antonio, Tx
I purchased this to set my foundation and the product was so hard to get out. I'm not sure if it clumped inside but I was unable to use it and eventually threw it away. You're better off with Laura Mercier if you're looking for a high end setting powder.
So happy with this product 5

I've tried many different transparent powders. This one is my favorite.
Lifesaver for oily skin! 5
Mom of 4 Girls! from Utah
I have tried everything for my oily skin because makeup melts off of me. I'm not going to say that I still don't struggle, but oh my heck this has been a total game-changer for me! I turn it upside down to get some product in the lid and then brush it over my face before I do my makeup. After using a mattifying foundation (sorry--still use another brand's), I brush my Mac Blot Powder over my face, which I also absolutely love. And then I once again brush this finishing powder over my face for one final oil control step. Between using this powder both before and after applying my makeup and also using the Blot Pressed Powder, I go hours longer than I used to before my makeup is an oily mess. And I mean hours longer. Yes, I'm using twice as much powder, but it's well worth not having to reapply makeup several times a day! I worried that it would make me look white, but it doesn't at all. If you have oily skin like me, this will be your new favorite! You just have to learn how to best use it, like I did.
I have bought this many times 3

I buy this product time and time again. It is a talc free, fragrance free powder that goes on smoothly and lasts throughout the day. The finish isn't quite as silky as some of it's competitors. It is pricey but worth it. Major drawback is the packaging. When you get to the bottom of the jar, the plastic insert is a major pain to remove.
Love how this makes my skin look 4
RachelN45 from Grand Rapids, MI
I really love this product and how it works with my makeup. It just gives you a soft, glowing look when lightly applied over your makeup. It makes your pores disappear too! My only issue is that I feel like I need to reapply mid-day and again later if I have a long day just to help brighten my makeup again.
I love this product!! 5

Let me just start of with saying I love this product so much, I was helped by an employee and he recommended this. So I decided to try it for myself and it was the best setting powder I ever used tbh. I use it every day to set my makeup and it also mattes my oily skin, since I have combination skin I have some patches of dryness too, the powder dosent make the dryness worse or better it just evens out your makeup and dosent leave a bright affect to it like other powders. I would 10/10 reccomend, this is a small product but I definitely will buy it again and again.
It's sickening how amazing this product is 5

I use this to set my foundation and concealer, and this goes on so smoothly and melts right in, really doesn't even have to bake, and a little goes a long way.
Not as good as the pressed powder 2
Mer from Westerville, OH.
I miss when MAC sold this product in a pressed powder. I could easily control the amount of product on my brush. This product is loose powder and in order to not put too much on my brush (and therefore my face) I have to dip the brush in the loose powder and tap it on the edge of my sink to get rid of the excess. It makes a mess and I'm wasting half the product. I have a makeup bag I keep it in and each time I get it out and unscrew the lid it's a mess inside. Bring back the pressed powder!
WORST.FLASHBACK.EVER!!!!!!!!!! 1
Lisa from Ohio
The flashback caused from this powder is comical. I used it for baking and when taking photos with flash it seriously looked like I still had a mess of powder under my eyes! I looked terrifying! 0 stars would never recommend! This is going back immediately.
Try corn starch first 2

Have used finger for lids however unless you have toothpicks for fingers you'll have to use something for under your bottom lashes (keeps everything intact/no running)
Don't waste your money! 1

I was going to buy banana powder but the one Ulta worker told me to not get it because my skin would apparently look green. She had me get the Mac one and it's has really bad flash back. Not worth it hunny
Fantastic 5

Great Powder! 5
Lalis from Roseville, Ca
I've had this powder for a long time but I recently started using it and I love it! It instantly blurred my pores and made my skin look very smooth. I don't do any sort of baking so I wouldn't know how it works for that but it worked really well on my oily skin!

Best Finishing Powder EVER! 5
Dida from Delaware
This was the best 'mistake' purchase in the history of my purchases...I sent my boyfriend to buy the 'set powder' for me from the store but instead he bought me this and as someone with tan skin, I was so afraid that this would make me look ashy since the powder is stark white! But when I say that this powder is LITERALLY transparent, girl! I have dry skin so I never bake, I feel like it makes me look cakey so using a brush and light hand to set my foundation with this is AMAZING...I can see why people would hate it for baking but don't do that...I highly suggest lightly setting your foundation with this, a little goes a looooooonnnggg way! I'm in love!

This product is a very fine powder. I like that it doesn't ever change the color of my foundation. It leaves my face looking soft and smooth.

I had limited options what can I say. Don't buy this if you are going to be posing for pictures using flash. Doesn't really work for my oily skin.
