Most Helpful Positive Review I LOVE IT!!
I've used Unicorn Hair to dye my hair four times now. (See pics!) I have loved the result every single time!! Moonchild, Bunny & Strawberry Jam have been my colors of choice. My sister has also used the color Pony multiple times too & has always had an amazing result! She's done full head as well as highlights with it. I've done my 12 year old nieces hair twice with Chocolate Cherry, she's a natural brunette (Italian & Colombian) & her results are stellar too. The naturally lighter pieces near the bottom tips of her hair take on the color vibrantly & the rest or her hair has a hue to it that is particularly vibrant when she's in the sunshine. I could go on.. My 8 year old niece (natural light blonde) just had the tips of her hair done with Strawberry Jam/Pony & she is obsessed with it.
I have naturally dark blonde hair that I have highlighted. My hair is not bleached but it is lightened. You can see the starting point in the pictures for reference. I think it's important to point out that all hair pulls/deposits color differently and it's always a good idea to do a strand test. If you naturally have more warm tones the color will look different that someone with more ash in their hair. When I'm putting lighter colors onto my hair I leave them in for hours and when I am doing a really bright bold color, I tend to live it in for about an hour. Unless your hair is bleached snow white, you will not end up with any cotton candy hued colors. Keep that in mind. If you lighten your hair to an ashy silvery/blonde-you will not get pale baby pink. When I use bunny I get a gorgeous rose gold color. You must be starting with hair that is nearly pure white to get those super pastel colors. If your hair is dark-no matter how much dye you put on it pale pink won't show up. The vibrant, dark, bold colors will cover your brown with a gorgeous hue of color & are a great choice.
Color fades beautifully too! I'm a happy Unicorn Hair lover! Thanks Lime Crime & ULTA!!!
Most Helpful Critical Review Very Mixed Review
Of the 27 colors, I used 18 of them. I listed below the ones I used, with their individual ratings. I dyed my hair on November 6 and I am writing this review on November 29th. I have washed my hair 3 times in that time period of 23 days. Also note that I let this dye sit on my hair for 3HOURS before rinsing it out.
5 Stars: Almost as good as the first dye
Leeloo - of the colors this has stayed the brightest and truest to when it was first dyed
Chocolate Cherry - Still very vibrant
Tweet - I am very surprised that this has stayed vibrant
4 Stars: Faded, but still strong
Anime - Still very bright, but seems duller
Blue Smke - Very true to its original color, but has faded
Valentine - Not as bright red as original, but still bright, looks a lot like the Chocolate Cherry when it fades
3 Stars: Bad Fade out
Strawberry Jam - Very light now, hard to make it out
Jello - Very pale, looks like mint faded
Dirty Mermaid - pale and hard to differentiate
Pony - Very pale and superpatchy fade out
2 Stars: Good at first, then faded out of existence
Kawaii - faded to a pale pink very quickly
Neon Peach - I loved this color out of the packet and after the rinse, but I have no idea where it is now
Bubblegum Rose - This faded to the color of what Bunny should have been, then disappeared after the second wash
Salad - faded much like Jello, just much faster
1 Star: What happened?
Bunny - Very patchy application and after first wash was completely gone
Mint Ice - Same as with Bunny, looked decent when applied, but after rinse it was barely noticeable and after first wash it was gone
NO Stars: Where is the pigment?
Cloud - When I put this on my hair, I did a wth moment. I could see the color in the dye, but when I put it on my hair, it's like it literally disappeared as I was rubbing it in. There was no color payout at all.
Moonchild - This was exactly the same as Cloud, only there was a very slight color tint

I have used numerous pink hair dyes, and get my professionally done every once in awhile, but in between appointments I like to throw in colour. I bought Bubblegum Rose, and I'm going to be completely honest - when I opened the little box up and saw the jar it was definitely not what I expected. I looked online first and found numerous pictures of this colour on different people, but the jar itself was a vibrant orange. Holding the pink box next to it had me really confused, and I genuinely thought there was some sort of packaging error. Since it didn't really bother me if it turned out more orange, I tried it anyways. It was very highlighter orange/pink after using it over previously bleached and colour faded hair, but over time it faded to the colour represented on the box and in the promotional pictures. It has also proven to have some staying power in my hair, because it's just now fading completely but I first dyed it in the *first week of May.* I think it definitely has staying power, as long as you take care of it like you normally should with dyed hair, but the colour being so different was a let down. I might try a different colour in this brand again.

This was my first experience with Lime Crime hair dye, but I am not new to semi-permanent hair color. This color was easy to apply and a little went a long way. Unfortunately, it took an incredibly long time to rinse and my hair was very dry afterwards. The color faded noticeably after the first wash and the color actually bled in the shower every time I washed my hair. After just a week I have a significant amount of blonde showing. Another problem was the Valentine "red" color wasn't red at all. It's very vibrantly pink.

smells awful and didn't last one wash.
LOVE LIME CRIME < 3
Niki from Virginia Beach, VA
I was always curious about lime crime colors and wanted to try it so I got chocolate cherry which is like a berry color and I also got pony which is purple I wanted to try to do an ombre so I put the chocolate cherry up top and put pony on the tips of my hair I let it sit for an hour and when I washed it out, blow dried it and styled it...OMG..the colors together are SOOO beautiful. I loved it so much it was vibrant and I felt so beautiful like a princess haha. I love the smell it gives off as well. it lasts a long time as well after a few washes. I didn't have to put in more color for a while. the color can bleed on your pillow case though a little bit. I don't recommend laying on your pillow with wet hair but i I love lime crime they have beautiful colors and I would recommend it to anyone that has had a good experience with it
Washed out after 2 washes
MWass320 from Cheshire, CT
The color was great but unfortunately mostly washed out after 1 wash, and was gone by the 2nd wash. Super disappointed.
Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE

Can we just talk about how amazing this stuff smells, on top of the spectacular color deposit?! My hair is so bright (I bought Pony Purple) and the color lasts sooo much longer than the lesser priced options and I'm not usually a brand snob! lol
Charcoal is terrible
Natalie from Clermont, FL
I spent an hour painting the Charcoal color all over most of my hair with dip dyed ends in a purple color. the roots took ok. it's patchy in some spots. the mids/shaft of the hair is GREEN. my hair was professionally bleached and toned so that I had a nice neutral base. no yellow at all. I would understand if the color faded to a bit of green because of a blue base, but this is ridiculous. I hate wasting anything I spent this much money on, but I will never use this charcoal color again. the purple is ok so far.
Love everything...but fades fast
ALee from PA
Everything was great....the application was incredibly easy, the color had a blue base which is what I wanted( I used Punky color last time which had a pink base-not what I wanted) and when I washed it out it didn't leave an awful mess in my tub. HOWEVER....it washed out in a a few washes which was a shame. I have to reapply every month to keep up the beautiful color. (If you have dark hair, PLEASE bleach it before using!)
Mrs Oli from Fountain Valley
I used this on my auburn hair and it is so gorgeous! Very pigmented and vibrant.
Ellie from America
Absolutely awful. I left it in my medium blonde hair for 2 hours and the only result was a scent. There was absolutely no tint. Save your money, don't waste it on this trash
Worked well, but will not wash out
Cat from NH
It was easy to use and definitely full coverage, but it has been lingering on my hair for about 2.5 months now. I lighten my hair and am very blonde, but I have used other semi-permanent hair color products before and have not had it last this long. I got the anime color, which came out as almost a bright teal and is fading kind of green. Would probably use it again, but beware of what color you choose and what color your hair is originally (I've tried washing my hair with dish soap and clarifying shampoo, but neither has sped up the fading).
Easy to use and color matches the box!

I got the color "valentine" and left it on for 30 mins like instructed. It definitely came out the same color that was shown on the box. I have the underneath dyed on my hair, peekaboo color or whatever it's called, so for the price and amount you get, I think it's worth it.
I wanted grey not green

IT TURNED MY HAIR GREEN! DO NOT GET THE "charcoal" COLOR!

used "Pony" purple on my daughter's med blonde, never dyed natural thin hair and it came out purple tinted but she loved it and thats all she really needed for fun summer hair. I used some on a chunk of my bleach blonde underneath hair... holy purple!! brighter than Plum Crazy... Definitely gonna add more. this is night one so I can't give any detail on long-term pros/cons
Chocolate Cherry- Beautiful Color
Jesse from Queens, NY
My hair had previously been colored red but of course the color is known for fading fast. I was intrigued by lime crime and it was my first time trying them so I picked up chocolate cherry in store as I could not find the true red color (valentine) on the shelf. I am pleased to say, I am sooo happy with the color! Important to note: I was mainly looking for a touch up on my faded red but the pigment of this dye is phenomenal. There was a scent but it reminded me of hair salons so I liked it haha. I highly recommend Chocolate Cherry, it's such a beautiful red/pink/purplish, basically berry, shade. You won't regret it :)
Best red hair color
Lyndz from Arizona
I have been using Arctic Fox to color my hair red for several years. Although, I love Arctic fox, it lasts two weeks max for me before fading drastically.
I combined Mystic Rose and Valentine together and got a beautiful vibrant dark red. Left on for two hours and used cold water to rinse and a color safe conditioner. The color has stayed vibrant and has already lasted longer than Arctic Fox for me. I'm not sure about Lime Crime's other colors but the reds are fantastic!
I also love the thicker consistency making it easy to apply without a huge mess. Was easy to remove off my skin.
Does have a strong perfumey smell, which I did not mind. If you are sensitive to smell, it may bother you during the application process.
I will continue purchasing theses red colors.
It's Good if you work with it
Eml from New York
Looks great everywhere but my roots? I love the color easy application leaves my hair soft I like the smell but for some reason it will not color my roots which are the lightest part of my hair I have red dyed hair but have naturally medium light blonde hair so my roots are much lighter than the dye color so why the color won't take there even when I leave it in for two hours is beyond me.

i constantly dye my hair and ive tried two of these (blue sm ke and valentine) and i love them they smell amazing and last ages in my hair and the packaging is adorable i 100% would recommend
Loved it. Color stayed on until I washed. No transfer

Wish the smell was less, but it goes away after a day
BEST HAIR DYE EVER!!!
Selenaell from Long Beach, CA
I've used Chocolate Cherry 4 times now and it looks so beautiful every time! I've also used Arctic Fox "Purple Rain" and "Ritual" (different occasions) and both times the hair color didn't come out as I wanted it to and it would fade too quickly and for some reason would leave gray highlights when I would spray in heat protectant. BUT WITH LIME CRIME HAIR DYE, the heat protectant spray didn't change the color or anything, it still looks the same. I dyed my hair on May 3rd and to this day June 2nd it's still vibrant pink!! Not to mention, I'm ALWAYS getting compliments on my hair color from people at work and I ALWAYS recommend Lime Crime Hair Dye to them! 1000/10 definitely recommend!!!

my poor nose was burning. the fragrance was so strong and it was patchy.
Great skin dye, not good on hair
Emmy from Charlotte, NC
So I ordered this dye hoping it would work on my 'dark brown' hair (according to their chart). This dye is highly pigmented, its easy to apply, and it is the most bright color my skin has ever been dyed. My hair? Oh, thats still untouched, natural dark brown. But my scalp is bright purple, so thats cool. If youre looking to get some funky looking skin with your natural hair, this is the dye for you!
I am definitely buying this product again
Yve from Philadelphia, PA
I've dyed my hair with Unicorn conditioning dye for about a year now. The colors are vibrant and my hair is soft and bouncy.
Nicole from Bessemer City, NC
I have tried tint and full coverage and the full coverage does last longer then tint but I left both on my hair for 2 hours and with the full coverage it still bled out after a month with every single wash. I am highly disappointed because of all of the good things I was told about it that made me want to try them. My hair is stained no matter what I do. I even tried color remover to see if I could pull the color out to stop the color bleeding and it is still stuck in my hair and will not come out.
