Most Helpful Positive Review Calming & Redness GONE!
I have combination skin where half of my face is acne with painful red, irritated skin and other areas of my face are very dry, inflamed patches of skin, especially in the winter months.
I was super excited to receive a complimentary sample of Aveeno Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 to try in exchange for my unbiased review because my face is currently in need of some serious calming.
I used a very small amount of the lotion after washing my face, it had a nice light, natural scent. It was not greasy at all and very quickly absorbed in my skin. As soon as I finished applying the moisturizer my face immediately felt soothed, calm, very fresh and lightly hydrated. About 10 minutes after application most of the red inflammation that is typically very visible and bright had vanished. Hours later, my face still was not greasy, felt calm and hydrated. I absolutely recommend this product to anyone looking for a moisturizer to calm and lightly hydrate, extra points for SPF protection!
Most Helpful Critical Review Sadly Disappointed
I usually don't have to give terrible reviews on products I receive from the Home Testers Club, but Aveeno Ultra Calming Daily Moisturizer SPF 30, but it's a horrible product; at least for me and the people I let try it in the last week. I live in Las Vegas, NV and I tried Aveeno Ultra Calming Daily Moisturizer before I started my day, made sure it was rubbed in and left the house. I didn't have far to go so I walked where I needed and a few people were giving me weird looks. I didn't understand why until one person point out that my face had white powder like strikes on it and my hair line had turned white. When it dries, it turned out like that on me. So I gave it another try when I went to the Rec Center to go swimming and put a decent amount on (yes it was rubbed in) when I got in the pool and swam for a bit the Moisturizer started to smear or sorts. It was a bit odd as I've never had this happen with a moisturizer, let alone an Aneeno product. Disappointed.

Got this sunscreen for a trip and was never able to use it on my face. The texture is awful, and I could immediately tell it would break me out. I only use 100% mineral sunscreens and know they have a physical barrier, but this was so chalky and cakey that it's not suited for your face. This sunscreen just became a designated body sunscreen for touchups in my purse. Highly recommend the Biossance squalane sunscreen for your face instead— mineral, super gentle, and moisturizing.
Worst sunscreen ever

I bought this for my Vegas trip, and was a mistake, this sunscreen don't blend well under the makeup,it's not lightweight it's thick and leave the whole face white 😡I don't recommend it.

I like this product but it started separating. It isn't expired. I don't know if it is still providing sunscreen protection. I'm very frustrated since I have stored it in a cool room away from sunlight.
After burning my skin

After burning my skin with a designer face cream, I turned to trusty aveeno and never went back. It does on light and makes my skin glow. The smell is nice and neutral and the formula works for my sensitive skin
No more smile lines

I don't have a dermatologist so I don't know if I have rosacea. Just my skin gets irritated and red easily. This fit the bill and I love it has SPF in it. It soothed my skin from red to pink and now white. Hasn't broken me out, and it's Louisiana in August. I've been using Pond's wrinkle cream lately on my creases but I didn't see absolute improvement till I bought this stuff. I'm 19 but already have smile lines, and this has fixed them!!
Not Fragrance Free
Amy from Columbus Ga
Definite fragrance. It burned my skin and it is not the feverfew. The oat gel moisturizer has feverfew and it doesn't burn like this. The box says fragrance free. I want my money back. False advertising.
I did not like

I did not like this moisturizer. The pump would get clogged and when I applied this to my face it would leave a white cast on my skin. Sad because I usually love Aveeno products.

Caused redness and peeling
Samantha17 from Waterloo, ON
I searched for hours online for a moisturizer with mineral sunscreen as I wanted that was safe to use while pregnant. I was really excited to find this product at my local grocery store! However, it has caused my skin to break out in red patches, and my skin is peeling like crazy - a reaction I've never had from chemical sunscreen. Disappointed that I won't be able to use this product.
Aveeno is such a
mansi_j from undisclosed
Aveeno is such a great drugstore brand and this is no exception. It has SPF, is great for sensitive/finicky skin, and is super affordable. I took off one star because it is a little thin for my dry skin, so I usually have to use a little extra. But even then, it lasts for such a long time and is one of the only SPF face moisturizers that doesn't break me out! Absolutely worth it!

I started using this when my skin became super sensitive. I've really loved it! Gentle and nourishing.
This is a staple
mommaashley from undisclosed
This is a staple product in my morning routine. I love that it's a mineral sunscreen. It is light weight, blends in well, and works great under makeup. It does leave a white cast if not blended well but it's easy to blend so it's not much of an issue. It does leave a slight greasy sheen as most spfs do but it's not overly so. I keep thinking I am going to replace it with another product but I just really like it so I don't!
Not for dry skin
Annsie from MD
My face was extremely dry and flaky. This moisturizer did absolutely nothing to help moisturize my face. It doesn't even make your face feel soft. I had to put other products on top of this which defeats the purpose in my opinion. Pretty expensive for such a tiny product too. I'm returning this for my money back.
This has a noticeable white cast..
Linz from Ulta
This has a noticeable white cast even for me, and I have pale skin. I also found it hard to rub into my skin, so it just looked like a white layer of sunscreen on my face. To use this I'd think most people would need to either use pigment drops or apply makeup on top (or be ok with looking like Casper).
Best mineral sunscreen and I've tried everything
Noel from Texas
This is easily the best mineral sunscreen (along with the neutrogena sensitive skin mineral spf 60 sunscreen) that I've tried. I've tried literally everything. This one is awesome. I set it with the urban decay velvetizing setting powder and my skin looks perfect. I have pretty bad rosacea and this has definitely helped. I really love this product!

nadad14 from undisclosed
I am not at all a fan of this product if I'm being honest. As someone with dry skin that has a tendency to flake, this product has only aggravated my skin issues. Price was okay, mid-range for a moisturizer but for a product marketed as "ultra-calming", this has ultimately fallen flat. When I use this product, it honestly just dries on my skin in weird ways, causing white buildup that flakes that makes this honestly more like sunscreen than a moisturizer. I would not recommend this product to anyone with dry flaky skin.
Really great for sensitive

Really great for sensitive or irritated skin. Also definitely helps with redness. It does have a horrible white cast though. No harsh smells.

This has to be the one of the worst sunscreen I've used ... whether or not you're planning to wear makeup over it. As soon as I apply it and it sets in, it starts flaking it all over making it look like my skin is ridiculously dry. Sooo, dissapointed
Waste of $
Mendi from Iowa City, Iowa
I prefer to use mineral sunscreens on my face, they work better for my melasma and sensitive skin. First the bottle is not right for the product. The product is thick which is expected in sunscreens with zinc oxide but the pump style doesn't work... I think I pumped like 20 times before it came out even after priming it the first use. The product does live a white hue (also expected with zinc products) but sometimes when titanium dioxide is added it's not as bad....not the case here. This product also aggravated my sensitive skin and was not ultra-calming.

White cast, not moisturizing enough
RN_CC04 from Chicago
I bought this daily mineral spf moisturizer to calm my redness and help my dry skin, while including the necessary daily spf. I've given it many tries, but it's just not for me. Leaves a white cast (which may be ok for very fair skin tones), and also leaves a "sunscreen smell". It also does not give me the dryness control I need, especially in the winter. I've layered it on top of a gel moisturizer and I still end up with flakes. In terms of redness control, it works but that's if you don't mind a white cast. I wanted to like this moisturizer, but it's just not for me.

My all time favorite moisturizer (that's affordable) I love this stuff and it smells so good. Great for dry and sensitive skin!
Skin151087 from Midwest
This product has a thicker consistency like a sunscreen and doesn't feel like a moisturizer at all. It left my skin feeling very dry. Worst of all, this product terribly pills up on the skin and leaves white chunks all over. I do not recommend.
Does the job, but needs a new bottle
JM5030 from undisclosed
While I find it effective in its purpose (I.e. keeps my face smooth, sun protection), the pump/bottle leaves a lot to be desired. Within my first use I was pressing the pump endlessly and no product would dispense. Eventually, product came out, but it was very inconvenient. My work around is to uncap the pump and scoop product out with it. If you apply this over a serum, it is likely to pill unless your face is 100% dry. It's a decent product--I only wish the packaging was in a tube.
