I'm a 39-year-old guy with combination skin that tends to get oily in the T-zone by midday, especially in the South Carolina humidity. I don't wear makeup often, but I wanted something natural-looking for photos, video calls, and days when my skin needs a little help without looking like I'm wearing a mask. I tested Rare Beauty True to Myself Natural Matte Longwear Foundation in shade 43 Deep Cool for a few weeks, and it honestly surprised me in the best way. Shade Match 43 Deep Cool was a spot-on match for my deeper, cool-toned skin. It blended seamlessly without any ashy or orange undertones. I was worried about the "deep" shades looking off on a real guy's skin, but it disappeared into my complexion perfectly. Application & Feel This stuff is lightweight and feels almost like skincare going on. It self-primes, so I didn't need a separate primer. I just used my fingers and a damp sponge, and it applied smoothly. The formula is buildable—I used one layer for a natural "my skin but better" look and built it up a bit where I had some redness or spots. The Rare Beauty True To Myself Natural Matte Longwear Foundation is a nice full coverage foundation. Unfortunately I received the wrong color. Mine was too light. I made it work with a dark shade adjuster. The foundation lasted all day. I used the enclosed Rare Beauty tear drop shaped sponge. The sponge spread the foundation nicely on my skin. I did not have any adverse reaction to the foundation. No offensive smell. Creamy with a thicker consistency. Comes in a good shade range. Bottle has an on/off switch to prevent accidental pumps and leaks. The sponge was bouncy and well made. I would buy this foundation in my correct shade.

I recently had the chance to try the Rare Beauty True to Myself Natural Matte Longwear Foundation in shade 10 (light warm). I really like this foundation overall. Application was smooth on the skin and easy to put on with the Rare Beauty makeup sponge. The coverage of the foundation lasts all day and provides a matte finish, which I prefer for my combination skin. I thought that the lock/unlock tab on the back of the foundation bottle was a great feature to have for anyone who travels. The shade itself was *slightly* too light for me considering how tan I am already this summer. However, the shade should be perfect by the fall. I would recommend this foundation to anyone who likes a foundation that provides a matte finish and wants it to last all day.

I thought this foundation was great! The coverage was what I needed to help even out my skin tone and was comfortable enough to keep on all day. I loved the matte finish as well because I didn't look shiny after applying. I felt that this didn't cause any skin irritation or breakouts because it wasn't too heavy. All in all, I would buy this foundation!
