I have semi long hair and stubborn hair always. Its hard for me to tame my hair a certain way since its so thick. I applied thia out of the ahower on fresh damp hair. When I first applied the product to my fingers I wasn't sure the consistency would match the claim of the hold. I was very very mistaken. This had a smooth application and really made my hair feel soft when I was applying it throughout my hair. A little bit goes a long way with this product. There is no smell to it at all which is great because some are very overpowering. The hold is excellent and has lasted all day without any reapplication which is very very nice. Other gel products would dry out my hair and leave it crispy and later I would have residue but not with the Redkin one. Hair especially for men is difficult to maintain but with this in my grooming kit I don't plan on having any more bad hair days thanks to this. Overall this is a great product if you have stubborn thick hair like me. I have recommended this to my barber and everyone in the shop who uses gel. I was sent this product in exchange for my honest review.
My husband and I received a free sample to use and we did so on a recent trip to visit family. Typically, my husband and I use pomade to style our hair, but since the sample was under three ounces, we decided to try the product out on our trip. Before we received the sample, I was familiar with Redken but not their Men's Brews Extra Clean Gel. In my opinion, the product is very liquidy and I wasn't sure if I had used too much or too little. When I applied it to my hair, I also used water to make my hair stay down and the product seemed to work well enough. On the other hand, my husband has very fine hair and he commented that the product provided him with no definition or volume. Basically, he said the product was only good to make his hair stay flat. While the product may work for others, because of my husband's fine hair, this is not a product that I would purchase in the future. P.S. After I received the product, I received an additional email with the following words: Here are some questions to keep in mind as you eat your Redken Men's Brews Extra Clean Gel. Since I did not eat the product, I hope I used it correctly.

The product itself reminded me of honey, based on the color and consistency of the product. I really didn't notice much of a scent from the product. It did do a good job of holding my hair in place.

This treatment held well without a feeling super stiff. I think I'd use it again if I saw it in the store for the right price.

I have to say I was quite impressed by this Gel. I didn't even know this product was available until I stumbled on it online. It left my hair with a crisp clean hold that lasted all day! I will be a customer from now on.
