Most Helpful Positive Review Best Drugstore Full Coverage Foundation Almost Holy Grail, if I can find the perfect shade. This 128 warm nude color oxidized on me & I've never had a Drugstore Foundation oxidize on me (Only Dior Forever Foundation oxidizes on me" Color starts a bit too light for my Medium warm skin, but still looks wearable, but then starts to turn a neutral darker beige after 5hrs and doesn't look as nice. So to make my Holy Grail foundation I mix this with my other Fave Drugstore Foundation Cover Girl Healthy Elixir and omg both of these together have a beautiful flawless finish. The Coverage together is excellent, not too Matte or Dewey but flawless. I know It's probably too much for most people, but I am a full coverage girl with a lot to cover.
I just ordered Natural Beige "which also claims to be a warm undertone" for medium skin & hope if it does oxidize it oxidizes to a warmer tone & not a neutral like the warm nude did.
Overall this is the Best Full coverage Drugstore Foundation I've tried & ive tried mostly all of them. I never liked the Fit Me Matte & Poreless since it never worked for me, it looked thick & heavy with a weird thick textured finish (but not full coverage) Its hard to explain. But this is nothing like the Fit Me. So if Fit Me didn't work for you, I'm sure if you can find the right color, this will be the Bomb! Yayyy Maybelline you did a Great Job on this!
Most Helpful Critical Review Disappointing I got this when it first launched in this site. I got natural ivory (112) I'm in 112 in the matte & poreless so I thought it'd match. But it does oxidize! I returned for porcelain. It still dries darker. Concealers in top doesn't look right in some areas. Looks heavy around my nose & chin. I am usually oily but since it's been so cold I've been very dry. This really doesn't look good on dry skin! It cakes up around dry patches. Eve between my brows where I have some invisible fuzz from not waxing, it looks awful. I've tried so many different primers/setting sprays & it's just not working for me. Which does suck because if it looked right on my skin I'd love a cheaper alternative to a great full coverage foundation but this just isn't it. I've even tried mixing this with my pro glow & that's the dewiest foundation I own & it doesn't help. Idk. It's just not worth it for me. I think you'd have to have perfect skin for this to work. By 4 hours I was in a store & saw myself in a mirror & holy moly, did I look awful. I just left because I was so embarrassed of how my face looked. My pores looked ginormous & it had separated around my nose (I wasn't oily, Idk what made it break down like that). I just don't know. I wish it worked but it just didn't for me

The original formula was holy grail status. But this new one is completely unusable. I tried it with a thousand different brushes and primers and even just bare faced. Nothing works. It's SO dry - it's impossible to spread over the skin, even with a damp beauty blender. The consistency is awful. And it looks streaky and patchy and dry like the worst kind of stick foundation. It doesn't fade evenly from the skin and any pigmentation or texture shows within minutes of application, which is weird because it's thicker than vaseline?? Ha…Sucks because the original formula was the bomb. I would've easily traded my entire foundation collection, high end or not, just for that single foundation because of how beautiful, long lasting, and full coverage it was. Perfect medium olive (128) shade and lasted all day too. What a shame, on to the next I guess
I am so disappointed 1

The old formula was so amazing and blendable and this new formula is so thick and doesn't even do it's job -go cover. Whoever approved of this change needs to be seriously evaluated. I will now have to find another holy grail foundation to use after using this one for almost 4-5yrs straight. So disappointed

I was so sad with this makeup. I was so excited to find a new product that boasted to be long wearing and my ideal match. wrong. it's so patchy and uneven. it does not spread evenly or smoothly at all. I tried with both a beauty sponge and with my fingers. same result. so sad because the other products I have from this brand are awesome! this one is going back to the store!
I LOVE IT 5

I never had the old formula but this sticks and stays on my face almost transfer proof. As someone with oily skin I never found a good foundation & THIS IS A GREAT ONE. Plz ignore everyone complaining I love this formula. One tip tho: If u put it over powder or primer make sure u have very lil foundation on bc it will get cakey
NEW FORMULA SUCKS 1
Dee from San Pablo
im so disappointed!! The original superstar was my go to foundation now I have to look for a new holy grail ugh I'm so disappointed. The good reviews on this foundation are all for the original formula not this new trash active stay formula.
Biggest disappointment in makeup history 1

I love love love the original 24 hr formula of this foundation. But unfortunately, maybelline decided to screw up a good thing. The new formula is too dry, too powdery, and too Cakey. It also feels extremely tacky on the skin. Blends out horribly. I really could go on. I'm gonna be stocking up on the original formula for a minute. Infuriating

The old 24 hr formula was perfect. Why mess with perfection!? Now i'm breaking out and this is the only thing i've started using in the past week, I ran out of my old one last week. Plus, the shades don't seem to be the same anymore. So disappointing. Not buying again.

Why are makeup companies obsessed with re formulating things just so they can make the product worse? Just LEAVE IT ALONE. Now this foundation is so hard to blend and the shade 220 is way lighter than the original. It's time to find a new foundation.
The new formula is not good… 1

I'm not one to leave reviews like this but I'm so disappointed in the new formula.
I absolutely LOVED the original formula. The original formula was 1. A perfect shade match. 2. A natural to matte finish (dep on prep & set) and depending on application, coverage was medium to full. 3. A smooth application, never emphasized texture. All around amazing, original formula.
The new formula is everything but that. This is FULL coverage off the bat, meaning it is very noticeable if the shade doesn't match. MATTE & DRYING, this formula is extremely matte and drying no matter prep & set. I have oily/combo skin and although matte is preferred, this is not a flattering matte finish. It emphasizes texture I didn't even know was there. It drys quickly, so no matter how fast I try to apply, it leaves patches/dry marks all over my face.
After reading many recent reviews, I can see I am not the only one with these issues…
I hope Maybelline will take our reviews into consideration and bring back the old formula.

I never leave a review but I feel like this time I had to because maybelline really disappointed me with this new formula! I was in love with the old one idk why they had to change it! It is not long lasting and after a few hours of wear it breaks up on my skin very bad ): I really hope maybelline sees all the disappointing reviews and either make this formula better or bring back the old one!!!!!
Great product! Maybelline did a really good job on this one! 5

I am oily. With this hot and sometime humid weather going on I needed a foundation that would survive this bipolar weather. My daughter recommended this foundation. Mind you, she's in her 20's with young beautiful skin. Anything and everything looks good on young skin. What in the world would we have in common when it comes to foundation? I gave it a try. Wore it around 8:30am. Checked on it mid day. My face was slightly oily. I'm very impressed! By 10:00pm my face had a glow but not oil slicks I would normally have by now. The foundation didn't separate or caked up. Besides this mask wearing misery I am very impressed with this foundation! And it's super affordable!!!
New formula isn't good! 1

I miss the previous formula I hate the new one :( the old one was so much better it felt light but was very good coverage the new one feels patchy & doesn't even feel like medium coverage 😞
Do NOT buy the new formula!! I'm truly so disappointed 1
Meredith from Savannah, GA
The original 24 hour formula was my go-to. It was blendable, smooth to apply, long-lasting, and wore off gracefully throughout the day.
The new 30 hour "active wear" formula is TERRIBLE! I hate to say that, because this foundation was my holy grail. I have tried almost every drugstore foundation, too. The new formula dries so quickly that it leaves horrible, oxidized splotches on your face when you try to apply. (Brush, dampened sponge, fingers — you name it!!)
It also wears away in a very unflattering way. I found I had strange, splotchy bald spots around my nose and cheeks after only a couple of hours in average (75° non-sweaty) weather.
Hugely disappointed. Will not repurchase unless they bring back the old formula.
Save your money!!
Old formula was heavenly this.... not so much 1

this new formula is too thick and emphasizes texture
I hate the new formula 1
Kate from California
The 24hr formula is way better! I hate the new formula because the shade of the 30hr is waaay off from the one that I always use and the worst part is it's so hard to blend! This used to be my go to foundation but not anymore.
Great Foundation! 4
Kylie from Chicago, IL
I use this product on a daily basis, it provides a well-balanced coverage and helps cover blemishes and I don't need to use color correction with this one! However, make sure to moisturize beforehand or mix the foundation with a clear primer since it can go on a little dry. It sets really well though and stays on even if I have my mask on for 13 hours.
New Formula is AWFUL!!! 1

I wish I could give zero stars! The new formula is so drying and hard to blend? Disappointed!
DON'T BUY NEW FORMULA 1
Ramona from Dallas, TX
The 24 hour formula was my holy grail. This new formula is a joke. It's so drying. And I'm honestly shocked Maybelline would come out with such a terrible formula. The shade colors are no longer the same either.

Just as good, but there's a learning curve 4

Like many reviewers on here, I was a big fan of the previous version of Superstay, so I've had some trials and errors with this new formula. It is definitely thicker, so whereas I used to blend with a brush, I now use a damp sponge. I also find it doesn't oxidize as much as the older version, and the former shade I used (128 warm nude) now makes me look pale, so I switched to 220 natural beige to match my olive undertones. Once I figured these things out, I feel that this version wears just as beautifully, and also doesn't settle into my fine lines as easily as the latter.
SO dissapointed 1
Laura from Texas
I am so sad that they changed the formula. This re-brand sits on top of my skin and is impossible to blend. The undertones are also much more orange and the foundation itself has this gross sticky texture. I never had this issue with the old 24 HR superstay. PLEASE bring it back, I'm begging!!
very good product 5
