So there are a lot of different formulas in the specialty category. Play Rose: A rosey gold/copper glitter bomb, you will stare at your nails forever. Glitters are hard to remove, consider a peel-off base coat, or use 100% acetone and unroll a cotton ball, cut into pieces, and put a soaked piece ove...r the nail and let sit for a few minutes to remove. Or paint a cheap nail polish over it, wait a minute, and slide everything off to remove.Worth the fuss, use a couple coats of glossy top coat to get a glassy finish with maximum shine. "Linear holographic": Red Licorice, Circuit breaker, Coral Chaser, Fifty Shades, hydropower, lost in the woods, magenta jelly, pink fizz: these look relatively plain unless you use a glossy topcoat and shine a light on them (camera phones work well), at which point they pop with color and a rainbow shine. For extra glitter I recommend using a holographic topper such as flakie holo taco. This is Holo Taco's most user-friendly formula, easy to apply, easy to remove, super opaque, very pretty, and TERRIFIC for nail art. Waste of Space: A unique dark polish with lots of interesting glitters and flakes, because this is a jelly, it needs three coats, or apply 1-2 coats over One Coat Black from the cremes section. Excellent for space manicures, plays well with nail art, dab on shimmer or unicorn skins for nebulae. Use a quick dry top coat after every 3-4 coats and let dry completely before adding the extra layers to avoid denting. Crushed holos: Blue rizzler, Holo cappuchino, pop rocker: The crushed holo formula is halfway between a glitter bomb and a linear, much more sparkly in most lighting than linear, much easier to remove than a glitter bomb. Blue Rizzler and pop rocker also have iridescent shimmers in them, which makes them look incredible in person and however pretty they look in online photos, they look way better IRL. They usually require three coats, though you may be able to get away with two. All Holo Taco formulas sold at Ulta are designed to be used with glossy top coat or other quick dry top coat, and will perform best with it. I have tried many brands, and Holo Taco is the one I own the most of, and the one I keep coming back to. I have thin, brittle nails due to medical issues and most of my manis stay put for a minimum of 5-7 days.
