I have had a life long issue with very dry skin. It is a real problem, especially in the harsh winters where I live. The Skin Food Original is a perfect solution for my dry skin issues. I like to apply it as a mask before bed in the winter because it is kind of heavy and greasy. A tiny bit goes a long way!! It is almost like using a lip balm for your face as far as explaining the relief my skin gets from this. It feels very healing to cracked dry skin. I also like to use it on my hands when they get dry and cracked. I love that it has no animal testing, is free of parabens and phthalates, free of synthetic preservatives and fragrances. The only thing negative is how oily it can make your skin if you put too much or if you don't have time to let it absorb before applying makeup. I make sure I have at least 20 minutes to let it absorb if I am applying it before I apply foundations so it is not greasy or heavy. Once it absorbs, my skin feels soft and hydrated, so, the oily feeling is just the initial reaction of your skin because it has so many nutrients for your skin to absorb. Great product, my winter is much better with it! It leaves my skin looking fresh and hydrated and feeling brand new.
I tried it after seeing it recommended by a dermatologist and reading all the positive reviews here. I have very dry skin and am no stranger to thick, heavy moisturizers however this one just doesn't fit the bill. I find the scent overpowering, and the skin feel upon application to both hands and face is all wrong. It simultaneously feels oily, and like it's just sitting on top of my skin and not actually doing anything. I also detect a bit of graininess.

I've read a lot of bad reviews, but I guarantee those people didn't use this right. This product is best used as a last step in your skincare regime to seal in the moisture. I use this as my last step and love how my skin feels after the fact, especially wearing a mask all day. I also use this on my lips after a shower, or after applying Chapstick. I will continue to slather this on as long as it's produced!

I have very dry hands and feet, and after using this for two weeks, I saw no change. You have to use a lot of product, but since it's such a rich cream, it feels wasteful. Additionally, it made my feet feel drier. They looked the same but they felt worse than before. Very disappointing.

I use this as a night cream when my skin is feeling tight or my breakouts are feeling sore from too much exfoliation. After I cleanse my face I don't dry off the water but put a hyaluronic serum on my wet face, wait for that to dry, then put on the Weleda food skin cream. I seal it off with a moisturizing (non-comedogenic oil like Phoenix from Herbivore Botanicals) and go to bed. When I wake up in the morning my skin is soft and glowy and it feels like it's been actually fed. This routine also helps heal the pimples I've picked at

This cream is NOT your everyday moisturizer. It is designed specifically for very dry, rough, flaky areas like your elbows and feet. It's texture is like Elmer's glue so it stays put on these tough areas. I wouldn't use it on my face or as a general body moisturizer - but I recommend it for targeted application.

So I got this as a sample and used it on my feet after giving myself a pedicure. The smell was weird at first but it gets sweeter over time. It also feels amazing. Super thick, from the beeswax I assume, so it's amazing for my feet.

i got this in a sample bag and it is possibly the worst face cream i've ever used. i have extremely dry skin and putting this on felt like glue. and it has the worst smell ever.i couldn't even finish applying it to the rest of my face!

I a nurse and wash my hands until the crack open and bleed. This stuff heals those cracks and honestly helps the soreness go away.

I use this nightly as my face crema. I really enjoy the smell, and love the way it feels. I use a very tiny pea sized amount and warm it up in my fingers. Then just gently pat in into my skin. I really feel it holds all my serums in, and keeps my skin hydrated and glowy. If you use it properly on your face, and need a thick rich cream this is great! It sinks into my skin without any issues as well. Wish it came in a metal tube still though.

I have very dry skin (though not all the way to eczema) and I was so excited for this SUPER thick moisturizer, but it truly did not deliver. it is thick (which I love) but it delivers absolutely NO moisture?? When it sunk in (which didn't take too long) my skin somehow felt dryer than before I put it on??? Smell really nice though!

I really love the way this lotion smells and what it does for my skin, but it's way too expensive. The bottle is tiny. It's also a little greasy. So, best to use at night before bed.

I actually use this for my very dry/cracked feet and it's the best stuff I've used for this. Super moisturizering. Soaks in and softens my feet.

My sensitive, acne prone, combination skin had a very hard time adjusting to description antibiotics and acne medication. I almost gave up on it because my face was burning and peeling (but hey, acne free). I couldn't even wear make up. It's so utterly challenging to find facial moisturizers without acids in them, which I am sensitive too with or without the topicals. I had used this product in the past for my hands and decided to try it on my face, knowing how thick it is. The smell is strong but dissipates quickly (limolene). You only need a tiny bit, less than a pea size for your whole face. I warm it between my fingers, dab a bit under my eyes, then pat the rest of it around my face. It spreads more than you'd think. My skin is nicer than it's ever been before. I love this stuff, but I wishing still came in the metal tube.

This really sits on your skin and doesn't absorb at all, no matter how much you massage it in. It would still be sitting on my face hours later, and the next day my face wouldn't feel any drier than usual. I like the smell, though.

I have very dry skin areas on my face. Particularly challenging in the winter with drier air and spending more time in doors. This is a great option. Use sparingly as a little goes a long way. I use it under sunscreen during the day. Well priced for the good job it does. It does have a bit of a fragrance when applying but quickly vanishes. The fragrance is pleasant; however, I prefer my skin care products to be fragrant free.

Not sure I would spend the money on this again. I have tried other moisturizers that do a better job and half the price. Disappointed!

It was very sticky and had a really strong scent that smelled like chemicals to me. It worked pretty well but not worth those two things to me.

I was looking for something to help with severely dry skin on my T-Zone. This product is thick, a little bit goes a long way and you really have to work it into the skin. I apply it before bed typically because it can feel a little tacky on the skin. At first using it by itself I didn't feel it lived up to it's full potential but now that I'm also using a hyaluronic acid serum from The Ordinary with it, my skin has really perked up. The smell is a little bit strange but nothing terribly bad. I'm not in love but it's the best I've found so far for my skin.

i didn't know this product had a scent, but it does. it smells kinda like mosquito repellent but not necessarily in a bad way. don't forget to warm up product in ur hand first, it is so thick!

I just got this today and it is the closest thing I've found to the VERY well protective Utter Butter that one would find in Farm and Fleet...a product that protects cows' nether parts from becoming chapped and weather worn! This product not only is vegan, but the texture on your skin...you have to work it in much like a suntan lotion; but you'll find your skin drinks it up! I had dried finger tips and dried cuticles and rough knuckles but now...they are back to their feminine selves. The scent is also complex but light. I would say though the price point feels high; it is a VERY GOOD vegan product with sustainability AND high quality.

Just not impressed. It's not the best, not the worst. The smell is a bit strong and it doesn't spread super easily. It's o.k..

I was always unsure about trying this. I've bought the body butter each winter for a few years but it sometimes leaves too much of a waxy coating on my skin & takes too long to absorb. I wanted to try something else that also didnt have a lot of bad for you ingredients. Finally decided to give this a shot because Ulta has a great return policy. It works so well & actually absorbs fairly quickly. It does work, spread, & absorb better if you emulsify it between your hands/ fingers prior to application. So far ive used it head to toe. I think it's going to be my new foot & hand staple because it absorbs so quickly. I dont think it'll be good to use regularly on arms, legs, & body because of the container size, but if you have dry patches on those areas then it's worth buying.
BTW the lip tube is Ah-Mazing.

I use this generally after washing my face at night time. It's amazingly intense moisture action leaves my skin supple, especially under the eyes when I don't get as much sleep - you can't tell. Unfortunately, the moisture leaves shine so it's not something I would wear out in the daytime. It gives the look after you've had a facial and your face feels awesome but you definitely look a tad greasy.

The first time I tried this product, I was very put off by it; it felt very thick and greasy, and I thought, "another lotion I hate." But within minutes, it seemed to sink into my skin withOUT the greasy, thick feeling! I was shocked to discover that I loved this product! It left my hands soft and smooth. I will say that a little goes a long way. I figured if a little did a great job, I'd lather on more, but I think it is possible to overdo it. I use it every night on my feet after I shower. My feet used to be dry and cracked, but no more! They are very soft and look healthy and hydrated. I'm on my third tube since the quarantine started. I've ordered it repeatedly and have given it as gifts, and will do so for Christmas, too!

I'm so happy ULTA started carrying Weleda. There is a learning curve with this particular product. Warming up the product with hands before application is key! This is way too thick to simply just spread all over the face without warming up.
In my opinion it's way too greasy for under the makeup, I prefer to use this as a night cream. I guess it could be used during the day if going for a super dewy natural minimal makeup application moment otherwise I could see this smudging around makeup or just dissolving makeup. A little goes a long way.
Not a fan of the scent but thankfully it doesn't linger. The body cream is a bit too thick and the light cream is nice but doesn't melt as easily as this ultra rich cream.
Wishing weleda still made these in the aluminum tube, they are now in plastic tubes.

This product is more sticky than greasy and because of the thickness it was a bit hard to spread. I was quite turned off when I first applied because of that. However, once it's on, my skin felt so covered and relaxed. It used to be so dry and tight no matter how many layers of serums, moisturizers and facial oils I put on. But this gave me the feeling that moisture is locked in and all that tightness was completely gone. Wow. It would be heavy for summer but if your skin is so dry in the winter it stings when putting on moisturizer, try this.
