Most Helpful Positive Review Deep and long lasting color
I've used many different semi permanent colorful dyes over the years and this is definitely the deepest and most intense color deposit I've come across. I have naturally blonde hair at about a level 7 that's been lifted to a level 8. I was actually trying for a less intense color so I only left the dye on for 20 minutes, but this color is STRONG and left my hair a darkkkk purple that made my hair look like I had put purple over a dark brown. I ended up bleaching my roots/about 3 inches down so the blonde was visible again because I'm a committed blonde, which wasn't apparent at all with how dark this dye turned out. It's been 6 weeks and I've washed my hair (with a cleansing conditioner exclusively) probably 20 times and the color has definitely faded but it is still VERY much purple and with the fading I've actually reached the color and intensity I initially wanted.
Pros: -smells great, fruity and reminiscent of artificial grape, doesn't smell like typical hair dye at all, grape smell lasted for a few days
-quick results (can be washed out within 20 minutes)
-doesn't bleed out in the shower (after the initial two or three washes)
-doesn't stain clothing or towels when wet
-leaves hair feeling soft and conditioned
Cons: -very messy application, the slightest touch will stain skin/counters/anything encountered
-stained shower floor and walls on initial rinse
-might be darker than anticipated
This is a great product if you're looking for an intense color deposit that will last longer than some other brands. If you're looking for a lighter color, I recommend mixing dye with a white conditioner before applying to hair.
I've attached three images- my initial level of blonde, directly after dye deposit, and now-6 weeks later- with blonde roots and color fade after ~20 times cowashing.
Most Helpful Critical Review I mean... sure
I used this product in turquoise 2 weeks ago for homecoming.. cause yknow.. school spirit. Anyway.. I've used this product before in the pink and purple but just on my ends. I decided to be adventurous and use the turquoise all over my hair. The color was great! The only problem I have is.. it won't come out. It has faded to this light green and I've tried all sorts of things to get it out from anti-dandruff shampoo to vitamin c tablets. If you are looking for something that will last a while and you don't mind the fading.. get this. But if you are looking for something to last maybe a week.. just don't do it with the turquoise. ALSO! If you have thicker/longer hair you may want to get a couple jars because I only purchased one and barely had enough. Good luck on your hair adventure.

I've had two toned hair for a couple years now and I've had many different colors but NEVER have I had a dye the stains the other side while showering. Stained EVERYTHING in the shower even a couple shampoos after the initial rinsing it out. My whole body is green. So yeah don't buy this. Color is pretty I guess.
Punky purple is more blue
Heartless from Alameda
Prepare to get the dye everywhere, it will stain so wipe off any drops that spill on counter or floor immediately. It will stain your skin but eventually that washes off even if it takes a couple of days.
I have dark brown hair. I did not expect bright purple. I thought it would blend into my dark hair with a subtle purple that is noticeable in the sun. My hair is blue instead. I am glad it's semi permanent even if it takes 35 washes to get it out. I hope it washes out.

This did not turn out the color it was supposed to also it washed out after 2 washes. I would not recommend this product.
Did almost nothing to my dark hair
Tia from Cincinnati
I have dark brown hair. Got the vermillion color in hopes of getting my hair a nice shade of burgundy. 40mins later, there's absolutely no difference in my hair color. I can see the red hue out in the sunlight if I try really hard.
As for the staining, yes it stains everything it touches. Please do wear gloves. I used some body wash and scrub and was able to get it off my skin pretty easily but my nails are still red.
I would NOT buy this again !

Messy stains everything, I did the black , which is more blue!
My whole body is now blue , no way will I ever use again !

So tip to readers. You HAVE to lighten your hair alllll the way to at least light blonde to see the colors the way they're supposed to be. This color stays much longer than anything I've ever used period. Is it messy? Absolutely, so be careful. Will it stain your face and clothes? Yep, for at least a few washes. If you use shampoo and conditioner made for color treated hair it will fade less so you won't get so much color bleeding. These colors are highly pigmented and they bleed longer than regular hair color does. As a hair dresser this is by far the longest lasting color I've tried on my clients.
be careful !!!

the product works very nicely but i don't like the application process because it feels very dry. be careful with your clothes and make sure you wear gloves !! it will stain your skin and it's very hard to get off.
What a mess!!

Don't buy! I put this in my daughter's hair for a fun summer color. It bleeds everywhere! Rinsed and rinsed and it just kept bleeding out. Washed twice, still bleeding color everywhere, all over the tub, the sink, the floor, her skin is blue all over her face and neck, even after multiple washes It's terrible!
Hair dye bleeds non-stop
Marie from San Jose
I hate this hair dye so much. It has bled through my shirt and surroundings. My hands are stained my face is stained. I have already shampoo'd my hair with hot mater in hopes to wash it out, but it won't come off, hence starting more hair color to bleed through my shirts.
Dyes hair, also dyes everything else in your life

Man, wish I never grabbed this. Half black half pink hair but they bleeding is so bad my pink is purple, even while keeping them separated. My tub and sink are blue/purple: (I used the black hair dye, just the undertone color I guess) no matter how many washes it bleeds so bad. My sweat comes out blue, any amount of moisture and it'll stain anything it comes into contact with. Can't go swimming, can't sweat, too scared to go into anyone's bathroom because I'll stain their porcelain as soon as I walk in. I regret this purchase so much. I'd rather had permanently box dyed my hair black instead of using this, stains worse than anything I've ever used, worse than splat. also, thank god I primarily wear black. After three weeks my neck/shoulder is still blue.

This color is VERY vibrant and lasts a long time. It smells good too. It will stain surfaces, so be careful of that. If you're like me and like your color to last forever, then this is for you. I used Flamingo Pink.
Will never purchase this product again
Hannah from Exton
I purchased the black and hot pink color and it was absolutely horrible it smelled like cough syrup which was a red flag for me in my opinion I've never had such a bad allergic reaction to a hair color. My whole body is stained from washing it out my private area is also stain because the color dripped down there when I was washing my hair I 100% do not recommend this product
Didn't work at allll
Tiffany from USA
I have medium blonde hair, my tips are always lighter. I used the cotton candy color as directed, looking for just s slight light pink overlay- nothing crazy. It did absolutely nothing. The light blonde parts don't even have a fleck or sheen. Super disappointed as the darker colors have worked before but got nothing from the light pink
Color works great
Love it from AZ
A lot of the reviews on here are user error. If you have dark hair no this will not appear because your hair is dark. This will stain as all other colored dyes and label advises to use gloves for applications and wash. I naturally have extremely dark hair but I lightened it significantly to apply color to and it looks great. The pigment is adheres perfect to my lightened hair (which is only lightened to a light brown) and stays for several washes. I'm on my third wash after application and it is still very pigmented (I wash with cold water to avoid significant removal/bleeding of color).
Julie from Beaufort
I've used a lot of colors over the years. It now looks like the smurf massacre happened everywhere I go. I've never had a color bleed and stain EVERYTHING like this one has. The color is nice but not nice enough to want it all over my body like an avatar
Didn't work well
Cmg1177 from Washington
I have thick hair and used whole container and even though my hair is dark brown I was hoping for a hint of blue but got nothing. My grey roots barely show the color at all and rest of hair nothing not even a hint of the color. It got everywhere in my bathroom but a no show in my hair. Very disappointing!

The violet was not violet it was blue.
long lasting color

tldr; if you're fine with spending time on cleanup and want long-term hair color coverage this product is for you
this dye is great if you want a vibrant color and want it to stay with you for a while. I can often go a couple months without redyeing my hair and still have a good amount of color still in it. Despite the odd smell, I feel as though this dye has a really good conditioning effect for my hair and overall, I'm always really hally with the color match, vibrancy, and coverage. The downside: this dye stains a lot. Your hands, skin, sink, floor, bathtub, towels, and probably some clothes will get stained. Everytime your hair gets wet (for at least a week) dye-filled water droplets are going to follow you around and stain things even more. It's inevitable, but it is what it is. I've used many different colors and I've found that bleach-based cleaners do the trick for getting the stains out. just pool a bit of cleaner onto the stain, wait 10 minutes or so and come back and scrub it with a brush/sponge (repeat if needed). The best one for cleaning bathtubs, sinks, floors, walls, etc. is actually bleach toilet bowl cleaner, like the one that you use to ring the inside of the toilet bowl.
The color doesn't match the label
CPK from Tracy, CA
It took two containers to cover my thick, short hair. I followed some of the advice I saw in other reviews and clarified my hair before applying the dye. I left it on for two hours and rinsed it out in my backyard because of the reviews about staining. The dye came off where my glove had ripped within 2 days. When I use the shower I have to spend 15 minutes scrubbing with a bleach cleaner. My natural medium brown roots started out a deep purple similar to what Pravana's purple comes out as, but after one wash it's wine. The rest of my hair was a darker blonde and it is also just a wine color. The colors don't match the label and it stains worse than any other purple dye I've used.
just came out a different colour than the bottle
olivia from San Jose, CA
I diluted the dye with conditioner, as I've done before with semi permanent dye, and it came out blue rather than violet. Very disappointing as blue is a very difficult colour to remove (and I look like Kai Anderson).
maddison from Va
do not buy this in the black shade at least. the water never ran clear and my hair still leaks loads of color. it literally stains anything it touches. when rinsing it out it stained my bath tub and had to scrub for hours to get it kind of out!
Never buying again
VictoriaM from Colorado
I love the color, however the staining and bleeding from this dye is horrendous. Every thing I touch turns blue. My skin is blue. Never again.
This ones a little sus ngl...

Ive been regularly bleaching/coloring my hair (naturally dark brown and wavy) for a while now. Usually the color leaves my hair kinda dry for a few days before going back to normal, but this one left my hair dry for MONTHS... the color is vibrant for a while and my hair is technically still on my head, but it's definitely crispy. Other people seem to like it fine so give it a go, but I won't be repurchasing :)
New Formulation Different color
ashley from los angeles
I've been using this dye for years and Violet is the only shade I get, I ordered two and didn't realize until after that one had a different colored lid (Gray) when I was applying it I noticed it was extremely blue, I opened the other bottle (White lid) and compared the colors and they changed the formulation big time, it's no longer my favorite deep shade of purple it's straight up blue! :( it also made my hair extremely frizzy, I wished I paid more attention to the lid colors I had no idea they changed it, from now on i'm buying in store and only buying it in the WHITE lid because the new gray lid is 👎🏼 very blue and not purple at all
Mix with conditioner
Keri from 84405
I had mixed feeling about this cause of the reviews but I went ahead and bought it anyway. My hair was an ugly dark gray color (salon disaster) so I decided to cover it up with a pink color. Punky has been my go to brand for color deposit without harsh chemicals. When I got it I realized the bottle is really small. But I portioned it out (1:1) with conditioner. Use the same amount of conditioner as you do this hair color. Then it will go a way longer way! I used less than half of it to do all my head and it came out very vibrant even on that dark gray color. Plus when you mix it with conditioner it doesn't stain the shower when rinsing it out!
