Most Helpful Positive Review Thinner Than Foundation, Thicker Than Moisturizer
For those that don't want to appear heavily made up, this is a happy medium above light BB creams and below heavier foundations. It blends well and doesn't dry out the skin, but it does give a dewey finish. While that is still trendy right now, for those who aren't as fond of looking a little too fresh from the hot outdoors, a simple translucent powder like Revlon's photoready (which does have some small shine of its own) will dim it down to a more natural look. It's a great base on its own, and offers great sun protection and skin evening/smoothing in one simple step.
Also, unlike some other sunscreens of Cetaphil's, this one doesn't have a sour chemically smell or taste, should you get it a bit close to the lips. The pump requires a simultaneous squeeze of the tube to prime it the first time, but after that the pump works well, and just 2-3 pumps will be sufficient to cover the whole face.
Most Helpful Critical Review I Was Never Relieved of Redness
I was looking for a moisturizer to help with my rosacea and not make my acne-prone skin break out. The only redness related ingredient, was the light tint--nothing else--but it lightly covered my rosacea and I still had to use makeup. It wore off by the end of my workout, and it did nothing for my redness when I tried to wear it under my makeup at work or throughout the day. It does contain SPF but has silica as an ingredient not shown when I purchased the item online.

I love this moisturizer to tone down the redness on my face, neck and decolletage. It's a bit thick, so will need a good 30 minutes of dry-down time before applying foundation. Because of this, I often use it on days I don't work where I'll be inside most of the day without makeup. I like having some SPF and reduction of redness so I don't scare myself every time I walk by a mirror..lol. if the SPF was higher, I might use it as my source of sunscreen, but this way I can save my expensive Colorescience for work days. Sure wish they'd raise the SPF, though. I HIGHLY recommend their redness reducing night moisturizer as it's fantastic for waking up to calm, normal skin!

Love this and it has a nice sheer tint that covers discoloration, and also leaves my skin moisturized and is a great makeup replacement especially for acne skin
The best for sensitive skin!
Never give up! from Des Moines, IA
I have both rosacea and a healing scar from a skin cancer removal—most products bother one or the other (I have tried many including prestige brands). This product doesn't irritate either. The tint helps to cover redness and is a perfect match for my fair/olive complexion. It also covers nicely under my eyes and doesn't settle into fine lines throughout the day. This has replaced my foundation/concealer for daily use. Tip1: the coverage is light so for extra coverage I use a sponge (Real Techniques makeup sponge) to apply. Tip 2: for full face makeup, I mix this product with my foundation (Clinique redness solution) and use a damp sponge to cover areas prone to redness. Tip 3: spf 20 isn't sufficient for sun protection so I use an spf 50 as a base (Cetaphil Sheer Face spf 50 sunscreen is my favorite—it doesn't bother my sensitive skin and is great under makeup). Grateful for this product!!
nice formula but too dark for me
M from Washington
This is one of very few fungal acne safe facial SPF that I have found. The formula is smooth and applies nicely and is non-irritating but this color is not right for me at all. I have medium/fair skin and this shade is too dark/orange for me. I would not describe this as a "neutral tint". It is slightly irritating if I get it too close to my eye area, but that is true for most sunscreens. The shade is ok if I apply it under makeup or mix it with another sunscreen that has a white-cast. If they offer a lighter shade in the future I would buy again. Also, Ulta needs to list the ingredients. I had to go to another site to find them.
Tess from PA
It's great for redness and acne. This is a staple in my morning routine!
Amazing Covering Redness!!

My daughter and I love this stuff.. it's the best. It covers great and a great sunscreen too!
best tinted moisturizer from Allentown
I love this product I've been using it for about 2 years. Since covid and masking I've used this in place of a foundation.
I noticed I don't have many breakouts near my problem areas and it feels so lightweight like a normal moisturizing lotion. I also love that it is tinted to give my skin an even tone. I'm very fair in the winter so using a lighter powder to blend makes it look even better. I will continue to buy this product until I find something better!

Helps with white cast which is a huge problem with zinc sunscreen. Will repurchase. Wish it had higher spf. good on my dry skin
I'm a huge fan!
Gem the Jewel from Los Angeles, CA
I love this product. I use it like foundation, so I use a primer and set it with powder. It's excellent coverage but is light on.
I would buy again
eyesforyou from Charleston, South Carolina
It is the only tinted mineral based spf I have found that : does not smell weird, has not broken me out, actually prevents sunburns (used in Florida), does not look super oily on skin, tint works is, not thick like a foundation but it will make marks look less red/noticeable.
Amazing for rosacea!
MJ from Minneapolis, mn
My dermatologist actually suggested this item to me, as I tend to have rosacea flare ups in the summer any regular face moisturizers can make my skin burn. The tint is just enough to blend into my skin and still look smooth. Cooling to the touch. Love the extra spf.
I would not buy this product if I was pale
Abby from Daly City, CA
This product is NOT for pale skin. I have super fair skin and when I applied this product, it oxidized immediately and turned my face orange.
breaks down & slides off after a couple hours
Kayla from Minneapolis
This product looks great when you put it on, but after 2 hours max, it'll completely break down and slide off face. I put this on and set it with my Laura Mercier setting powder and that makes zero difference. I've also tried this with a primer. This product would be OK, if you're outside or at the pool and you don't care how your face looks and you plan on reapplying... but don't use this as a foundation or tinted moisturizer replacement. You'll have no coverage and your face will be very greasy.
Can make it work
Lex from Colorado
Bought this for obvious reasons, the ingredients are fantastic and it really does feel soothing on skin. Color of tint is not good for me, a bit too dark but I mix it with some Pacifica SPF 30 which makes the color just right for me.
Not for fair or oily skin
Dre from Pennsylvania
Too dark for fair skin, gave my face an orange tone. Needed to apply powder on top as it left my skin very shiny and oily looking.
Was not irritating and no overpowering fragrance, just not a good match for my skin tone/type.
I love Cetaphil products, but this was a miss.
Iona M. from Texas
I am fair skin, and this did make me look darker, almost orange. I can make it work with my foundation, but I'd rather use something else for a moisterizer/spf. Their redness relief cleanser is great though.
Lina from California
I was nervous getting it because some people were writing that it's not a good color.
Turns out it's a Perfect color for me! It's not so orange like people say. Blends in the skin nicely.
Love that it's not oily and has spf protection. I will definitely purchase again!
ecblaine from kansas
LOVE this. I use this daily and I love that it has a slight tint for days I dont wear makeup. Doesnt leave face shiny but also not matte.
Great tinted sunscreen, for me
Lil from Los Angeles, CA
I was looking for a tinted sunscreen to replace my foundation because I recently started having eczema and want to use less makeup. This sunscreen does such a good job evening out my skin tone and covering up redness that I do not need to wear foundation or concealer. However, I will preface that I am white with yellow undertones, so I think that this product works for me because the tint itself only comes in yellow undertones and obviously would not work for people with darker skin. That is the only con I have with this sunscreen is that it is not inclusive or one-size-fits-all.
Great for my rosacea
Tilly from Portland Oregon
Didn't irritate my skin at all, even masked the redness when I put it on, perfect for under my makeup.
More of a BB cream than foundation
Alyssa from Indianapolis
I use it as a BB cream, the color matches me just right. It isn't the best for dry skin, it reveals all of my dry patches, but I think the good outweighs the bad. It will start to flake off you pick at your skin too much. Don't buy if you are a darker complexion or very pale.
A hearty heck yes I would purchase again!
Carmen from Los Angeles, CA
I have a pretty serious habit of picking my skin that I'm slowly trying to get over. In the interim, this product has been my holy grail in covering up the post inflammatory erythema left behind by my hormonal breakouts. It's been wonderful in covering those scars when I want to get outside and workout but disguise those unsightly scars a bit. My biggest two critiques would be a) for my darker skinned ladies this might come on chalky. If Cetaphil could develop a formulation for a broader range of skin tones, that would be wonderful. Second, at first application the product makes your skin look a little greasy. This settles into a pretty feet glow after thirty minutes so don't be scared- the grease feeling fades. All in all, I don't know if this is helping fade the acne marks or if it's my other products, but I will definitely be repurchasing! It's hard to find a product that doesn't break me out and this one is it!
Subs as a quick foundation, too!
Pam P. from Canton, MI
Can be used as foundation, especially when you're in a hurry...plus, it's 30 SPF!
Ashley from AZ
I didn't know I was signing up for an orange foundation when I bought this. It is heavy, it doesn't moisturize, and the color is terrible. just no.
Jen from Wisconsin
This is much more like a CC cream than a moisturizer. It's really thick, thicker than your average foundation. It was not only hard to spread, but really hard to wash off. It also highlighted every single dry flake I had on my skin, so it's also a zero in the moisturizing department. The nighttime moisturizer is much more pleasant. This daytime one is a big thumbs down.
