I don't know if maybe this depends on which color you get? I got the "blush" elastics, and it takes exactly one use to stretch them out. They're still useable for casual wear (not for anything that would test their hold, but they're fine for running errands), but honestly, I was disappointed to find...

The eucalyptus hair ties have great color! I have a lot of long, curly hair, and my husband has thick, long hair that falls down his back. These hair ties work great for us both in terms of staying in place and not slipping down, unlike some that require redoing the tie or pulling your pony to make it tight again. My only comment, personally, regarding my curly hair, is that they could be a little wider. They are worth the purchase, however!
