I'm glad I spent the money for a quality curling iron. I have struggled with curling irons in the past that just didn't get hot enough and never were long enough for my hair. This one has a sturdy clamp and appears very well made. In addition to two extra springs, the curling iron also comes with a black heat-resistant rubber mat to lay the curling iron on that is about 4 inches by 8 inches, I am estimating. I have thick hair, that my whole life has never held a curl easily at all. This one changes that, my curls do loosen throughout the day to be more waves, but that's to be expected. I use this on about 400 degree heat. I kind of wish the barrel was longer as I don't even have ridiculously long hair and it barely curls the length of my hair. I get to use so much less hair spray when I curl my hair now because the curls stay so much easier so my hair is less crunchy and can be combed out so more easily and nicely at the end of the day. Not to mention that I don't have to have hair anxiety throughout the day, anyone know what I'm talking about?? When I worry about crushing my curls if I lay or sit back on them weird or tangling them up because they're so freaking sticky with all that hair spray I need because my hair is so difficult to curl. Ick, I know haha,
I loved this curling iron the first few times I used it. Then one morning it unexpectedly overheated, melted the hair it was curling and then would not turn on anymore. I sent back for a refund and am not sure if I would buy this product again. After googling, it seems as though the manufacturer Helen of Troy has a history of curling irons doing this.

I was thrilled to see this extra long curling iron on the shelf, as my biggest complaint with my other wands and irons are that they're too short for my waist-length, very straight hair. I love the length, but the problem I find is that the clamp needs to be as long as the iron, as is the standard on any other curling iron. When I'm trying to do the beachy-wave look, which requires moving down and twirling hair into the clamp as you go, I often find that my hair slips out mid-twirl and I have to start the strand all over again. I'm also not sure that this iron gets very hot… I've never had to go above 350F for my fine hair, but even the highest setting (430F) requires I hold the iron in my hair for longer than I normally care to. I do think it's important to note that this size barrel is normally used for very loose waves, so if your hair isn't holding a tight curl, that's kind of the nature of this size of tool. My hair definitely doesn't hold a tight curl, even with smaller irons, and I didn't go into this purchase thinking I would have tight, springy curls. I was looking for something to give me very natural, loose waves and I do get that effect using this iron, though it takes a lot of effort and time on my part. I think I could've had this effect with a cheaper iron, and the length of the iron itself is really just a gimmick since the clamp isn't as long as the wand. The box was accidentally thrown away so I'll be keeping my purchase, but based on price and performance, I probably would've returned this otherwise.

I wanted to love this iron so much as I bought 3 different sizes because of the long barrel hoping it'll be perfect for my long hair.. however, this iron and all 3 sizes I bought are totally useless because I can't let my hair get anywhere near the bottom or it gets completely caught/wrapped up in the screws towards the bottom where the screws hold the top clamp and metal resting piece & totally rips out tons of my hair. So sadly I can't use it. I really wish they could fix this issue by redesigning the screws. OUCH! I've tried over and over but it never fails as I can't use any of them for my intended purpose of having the ease of the long barrel when they just rip my hair out. Maybe it would work for someone with short hair if they don't get their hair near the bottom.

This just way too long for me. I would say this tool is for long hair.

I've used this on about 6 different occasions and my curls never last. I'm not a professional but I do know how to curl hair and every time I curled my hair the curls were gone within an hour. I tried different types of hairspray, holding the curl as it cools down in my hand and nothing worked.

Got this since I loved hot tools blow dryer. Added my heat protection, Curler my hair, added hairspray, blah blah blah. It looked ok, and then before I even leave my hair is basically flat again. If I could add zero stars I would.

This iron is awful. Curls do not hold. Go with a Babyliss or BioIonic instead. You'll spend a little more but it will be worth it

Want to love this because it's extra long for my long hair and it's a thicker barrel which sounds ideal for what I'm looking for. No matter what I method I tried, I could not get a solid curl out of this. Barely a wave. I tried turning the heat up, and it seemed like it helped, but the small curl I did get would just fall right out within 30 seconds. This iron just straight up did not work on my hair. This happened to me with another hot tools wand. Bizarre.

So, my hairstylist typically uses a Bio Ionic Long Barrel curling iron on me but suggested I try this one out first since the other one would be $140. Long story short, after trying it out for an hour, I can definitely say there's something off about the temperature. It'll literally get super hot and then go to room temperature several times while I'm curling my hair. I re-checked the temperature over and over to make sure I hadn't accidentally bumped something, and sure enough, I hadn't. I've never actually had issues with my hair curling until this one. Probably due to the the wonky temperature, my curls kept coming out uneven. I let them cool and set, and once I tried brushing my fingers through, it all fell flat. I basically spent 50+ minutes on my hair, to have it look like I curled it 2 days ago and slept on it. Wouldn't recommend.

This iron definitely had a learning curve for me. The first few times I used it, it snagged my hair and my hair looked awful. Eventually after watching some videos and some trial and error, I figured it out and it makes my hair look phenomenal and gives me the hair I've always dreamt of. I love that it has the long barrel since I have longer, thick hair. It makes it much easier for me to curl my hair effectively. I haven't noticed too much snagging on my hair since figuring out how to properly use it and I find that it really reduces my frizz too. Curls hold 3-4 days easily. Will always recommend!

My hair is super long and real thick. I have flat straight hair after 30 min. No bouncy curls, no waves. It's caca. Do not buy.

I had an earlier version of this curling iron for years and loved it. Now I'm on my second one (I returned the first) and it still does not curl my hair properly. The hair falls out of the clamp and doesn't allow me to style my hair as the previous model did. The only good thing is that you can't accidentally turn it off easily while you are curling your hair, like another curling iron I have. I really love the longer barrel but this one will have to go back....again!

My hair stylist was using a hot tools curling iron on me and it looked amazing, so I wanted to get my own! Idk what is wrong with it but it will not hold curls, like so many of the other reviews mention... super disappointed and returning today
It's a no for me. from Okc
If you have long thick hair that usually falls while you're doing the other side or just falls about 15 minutes after curling. Don't buy this. I tried everything to get it to work. Nope. I'm good at curling hair too. I didn't use heat before I used it, air dried my hair. I braided my hair overnight so that the curl would lock on texture. Nope. It was a mess. I HIGHLY recommend babyliss curling iron for long thick hair. I didn't even have to let my hair cool for it to stay. Instead of hours of curling my hair, took me 15 minutes. If that. Never been able to curl my hair that fast and the curls look amazing.

Really nice for curling long hair and getting a seal in the ends. Have used this brand for about 10 years. These irons always require a few uses before the hair runs smoothly over them and can acquire some shine. Leave it on for a few minutes before first use.

I bought this curling iron in 2019 of September by March 2020 it went out. The light would not turn on and would no longer heat. I returned it to get a new one under my 1yr warranty in June 2020 since the store opened back up after Covid and I was able to exchange it for a new one. August 2020 and the I noticed the temp was low on the high setting. It was slowly going out and no longer heats up anymore! This is my second currying iron and I now have to go and see if I can exchange again. I love this curly Iron because it's the only one that controls all my baby hairs and fly always, giving me a sleek style. I have the purple brand version for 4 years so I'm just confused why this gold one keeps going out. Disappointed :(

I agree,....this curling, while fairly new, NO LONGER HEATS UP!!! Terrible!

So I decided to buy this curling iron after having countless hair stylists use it on my hair. I love how the barrel is extra long! My hair goes to my waist so the extra long barrel definitely helped curl my hair efficiently. The temperature is perfect, I recommend going no higher than 380 just to protect your hair. It heats up SO fast, like I'm talking 30 seconds. Also, whatever it's made of is very nice, as your hair doesn't get burned or leave burn marks on the iron or your hair. It's so smooth too!! It used to take me an hour to curl my hair, but now I can legit finish curling it in 25minutes max!! And that was on the first try (:

Didn't work for me. Snags my hair and does not hold a curl. I don't have this problem with other irons I own
:) from Wv
I have very thick and long hair and this curling iron is one of the only irons to ever curl my hair and it hold.... highly recommended!

This iron easy to hold and easy to use. The cool tip rotates so you dint have to let go or reposition as you roll your hair. The extra long barrel is perfect for long hair!

I'm a novice with heat tools so I decided to get the long version for my waist-length hair. Really glad I did because it was so much easier to get the hang of things. The curler feels high quality and well made, and my curls hold even on a lower heat setting. Make sure you use heat protectant, I can definitely imagine burning/damage on the higher settings.

This is my favorite brand and favorite curling iron! My work only uses this brand and now in my home we only use this one!

I bought this during the last Ulta Beauty Gorgeous Hair event and I love it. I curl my hair with it and the curl stays put until the next time I wash it. With most other curling irons my curl is gone within a few hours, even if I hair spray to the max. The fact that this tool can make my hair hold a curl for a few days is very impressive.

I cannot say enough good things about this curling iron. It heats up quickly and has a long cord. It has a swivel tip which is perfect for getting hair to twist around the iron. It comes with a heat mat which I don't need but it's nice that it came with it. It also came with two extra springs. The best part about it is the long barrel. It makes curling my hair SO easy!! It takes 5 to 7 minutes to do beach waves from scalp to ends on all of my hair and my hair is around the bottom of my back. Plus it can be used as a wand by just wrapping the hair around. I definitely recommend this curling iron 1000%

I finally upgraded my curling iron from a drug store brand to another hot tools product. Hot tools never lets me down, and I definitely recommend this curling tool over the wand. It worked perfectly for me and was so easy to use.
