I originally bought this product because the Bridgerton makeup artist mentioned the entire cast used it. I was looking for a balm that wouldn't dry out my lips like Burts Bee's and Nivea lip products do (the high concentrations of beeswax are very drying to my lips). I purchased this Original Balm first, and then the Shea butter one. I love them both! However, I was not a fan at first.
When I first applied this balm, like many reviews I have seen, it dried my lips out. But I found that applying a layer of Chapstick, Blistex or SoftLips first and then adding PawPaw on top was a great combination! I put this product on every night now and I love how smooth my lips are when I wake up. Additionally, I have found it works a treat for cracked, dry hands. I love putting a dab on before I use a hand cream or lotion and my hands just soak up both! Unlike some reviews, it doesn't make my hands sticky when combined with the lotion.
Yet, it does have a downside. I attend school and have to wear a face mask all day. My lips and chin get really dry because of this, and I was really sad when the PawPaw clung to my mask and not my lips. It was kind of a given with the mask being so close to my face, but I was disappointed.
All in all, I have yet to find a better balm that works better than this for me! I'm so happy I purchased it and will be repurchasing. I've recommended it to multiple people, including my mom, who also loves it. She's 52 and finds it's soothing and hides some lines around her lips. This is a great product!
I was so excited about this balm! But it only worked on my cuticles but not anywhere else. Initially, I found the balm a bit drying on my lips compared to other products. After two weeks of use, I became allergic after using it as a lip balm. The skin around my mouth became red and swollen, and the skin all around my mouth began to flake off. My dermatologist and I tried to find the cause of the rash (through a process of elimination) and, unfortunately, we determined it was Dr. Paw Paw's causing the reaction on my face. Had to toss it. It took over two months for the skin around my mouth and lips to stop flaking.

I bought the original formula years ago on a trip to Australia. I was so excited to see it carried in Ulta and i like this formula even better. I put it in all my family members stockings for Christmas and they love it. The biggest reason I love it is because we used it for my father as we cared for him when he was dying. He could no longer swallow so his lips and skin got very dry. We rubbed it on his lips every 2 hours and any dry patches of skin as needed. It worked so well. The nurses always commented on how great his skin looked. It gave me such peace to be able to ease his suffering in this small way.

Love that you can use it for so many things, it's like the lip balm that keeps on giving!

This changed my lips. Before my husband of 15 years would never kiss me. Now he does immediately after I apply this balm. Only until it has completely wiped off and smeared onto his lips does he stop.

I am addicted to this stuff. I use this all the time to hydrate my hands after all the hand washing. It absorbs in quickly, and does not leave my greasy for a long time. I always make sure all I always keep this in stock.

Anyone who doesn't like this product may be using it incorrectly. I believe it's purpose is to seal in the moisture in your skin. So, moisturize first and then use this product. I typically use Aquaphor for this purpose and love it, but decided to give this a try. I'm in my 40's just recently started taking care of my skin. I put this all over my face last night after exfoliating and moisturizer and literally 15 hours later I can't force a crows feet wrinkle to appear. That's what happens when you seal the moisture in your skin with a balm like this!

Reviews mentioning disappointment in this (hyped) product are likely due to a reformulation of the original, which had petrolatum as the first ingredient and just a handful of others. In the new formulation, they swapped out petrolatum for castor oil & added a few other new ones, making it pretty different from the original.

I found it at TJ Maxx and instantly loved it. Just bought the full price. I've used it every night and my lips are transformed. Works so much better than expensive La Neige etc etc. it is a bit sticky but that's whT makes it great for nighttime. I don't understand the negative reviews- I've had no problem with drying, which i often do with other products. Castor oil is the first ingredient, unlike others that start with water. That's why I think I the formula is so effective. I just bought the new Nighttime Mask variety and it's even more amazing!

i don't understand all these bad reviews! i can't live without this stuff! i have a bad habit of biting my lips and i need a good lip balm and this stuff is amazing. plus it's one of the only ones that don't have a nasty taste or smell. love that this brand is cruelty free & vegan.

I've only been using this product for about a day and a half, but I have chronically dry cuticles and have a tendency to pick at them. I've been primarily using this product as a cuticle balm, and it seems to be working great for that purpose. I went from red, dry, peeling cuticles to healthier skin around my nails in less than 24 hours. However, as a lip balm, this doesn't work so great. I know that castor oil, in particular, has a negative effect on lips for some people, and I seem to be one of those. That said, I give 4 stars only because it doesn't work great as a lip balm.

Tube split open at the top on my second use. I'm using a binder clip to try and keep it from drying out. Would not repurchase

This balm boasts moisturizing ingredients like castor and olive oil, but make no mistake: this will dry out your lips as if you just applied rubbing alcohol. I don't even understand how this is possible but it does nothing to help repair damage... it just makes it way worse.

It's ok, a little thick I think

I've tried the original, shea butter, and tinted balms and they're making such a huge difference in my lip health! They've been way more hydrated and protected during the harsh winter. Would highly recommend!

I wanted something for my lips because they have been very dry and I liked that I could use this on my hands since I wash them so often at work. Boy was I wrong.. after just one day of use (2-3 applications total) my lips and my hands were so incredibly dry I started getting a mild rash. Definitely will not be using anymore.

I love this! I have extremely chapped lips and skin on my hands. It's more of a protectant vs something to add a lot of moisture & that's why I think it has a lot of negative reviews. Reminds me of the consistency of aquaphor & Carmex with out the smells! Really love it.

I picked this up for the first time at TJ maxx. I am hooked! I especially love using it at night before bed. It's not messy as others claim, unless you use too much. It's hydrating for sure!

I use this product daily on my dry hands.

I used this for my lips after being recommended by a dermatologist but it does not hydrate or keep them hydrated. It feels like the product never fully sinks in and just sits on top.

This all-purpose balm is a righteous mess. Incredibly greasy and takes a million years to sink in, then again this is what you get when the formula's first ingredient is castor oil. Shea butter or no, this is just a big no-no for the hands or, well, anywhere on your skin. Least it has no annoying fragrance!
Dawn from Phoenix, Az
It didn't smell great and actually left my lips feeling drier shortly after I used it
Ashton from CA
The consistency is pretty sheer, not thick or occlusive enough for my liking as a lip balm. I have sensitive and chapped lips and I really like a thick moisturizing barrier for my lips. This is still nice tho since it's fragrance free, and it moisturizes well.
