Q
What is the difference between the No.4 Fine Bond Olaplex shampoo and conditioner and the No.5 Fine Bond?
Asked by Jo
Official Answer By Olaplex - Brand Engage
No.4 Fine Bond is the shampoo, designed to gently cleanse while adding lightweight volume and body for fine hair. No.5 Fine Bond is the conditioner, which provides hydration, detangling, and lightweight nourishment without weighing the hair down. Both are formulated for fine hair, but the shampoo cleanses while the conditioner moisturizes and softens. Was this answer helpful to you

This made my hair dry and incredibly tangled only after one use. Would not recommend.

This conditioner is amazing for fine hair! It leaves my strands soft, shiny, and stronger without feeling heavy or greasy. My hair detangles easily, looks fuller, and feels healthier after every wash. The scent is clean and fresh, and a little goes a long way.

I received this product in exchange for my honest review. This conditioner completely transformed my fine hair. It has a lightweight, creamy texture that spreads easily and instantly detangles my strands without making them feel heavy or greasy. After rinsing, my hair feels silky, smooth, and incredibly nourished — yet still light and full of movement. What really impressed me is how effectively it strengthens my hair while adding noticeable volume and bounce. I've been using it together with the Olaplex No.4 Fine Shampoo, and the combination gives my hair a salon-quality finish every time. The ends look healthier, the frizz is reduced, and my hair maintains that soft, airy texture throughout the day. The scent is delicate and clean, which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. A little product goes a long way, so even though it's a luxury conditioner, it's definitely worth it. If you have fine, breakage-prone hair that easily gets flat, this conditioner is a game changer. It delivers the perfect balance between moisture, strength, and volume. I can confidently say this is one of the best conditioners I've ever tried, and it's now a must-have in my haircare routine.

Not Suitable for Fine, Protein-Sensitive Hair

Olaplex No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo for Fine Hair and No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner for Fine Hair — Not Suitable for Fine, Protein-Sensitive Hair I recently tried the Olaplex No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo for Fine Hair and No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner for Fine Hair after a salon stylist recommended them, assuring me they were ideal for fine hair and safe for occasional heat styling. Because I'm protein-sensitive, I contacted Olaplex via their live chat to confirm that these versions did not contain protein. The representative confirmed they were protein-free and suitable for daily use, even on fine hair. However, my experience was extremely disappointing. The shampoo lathered well but left my hair feeling rough and coated as I rinsed. The conditioner provided temporary softness in the shower, but once I combed through my hair, it was tangled, difficult to manage, and I noticed some breakage. After air-drying, my hair felt dry, stiff, and looked dull — very unlike the "hydrating" or "bond-repairing" results I was expecting. Upon reviewing the ingredient lists, I discovered Hydrolyzed Quinoa, which is a protein, and Isopropyl Alcohol, a drying ingredient — both unsuitable for fine or protein-sensitive hair. In my opinion, these products are not appropriate for daily use on fine hair, and they certainly aren't protein-free. I would not recommend Olaplex No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo for Fine Hair or No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner for Fine Hair to anyone with fine or protein-sensitive hair.
