This is hands down the best mineral sunscreen I've ever tried, and I've tried them all. For reference, my foundation color is whatever the lightest option is, so I really need a good sunscreen even if I'm going to be out for a short period of time.
Here's why I love this one:
- It applies easily. It's not chalky or clumpy in texture, and it rubs in completely. With any mineral sunscreen, you have to really rub it in more than traditional sunscreen. Where this one excels is that it truly does rub in all the way, and it doesn't clump and gather in blotches like some others.
- It smells like fun beachy sunscreen, not medicinal or stale like some other mineral screens. I still want to smell like I'm going to the beach, even though I'm wearing SPF 50, right people?
- It's 3 oz, so it's carry-on friendly, and the tube makes it possible to squeeze every last bit out.
I can't speak to how this works for people with naturally darker (or just less fair) skin tones. So just keep that in mind that if others say it leaves a white cast, it may just be showing up more on someone with skin that isn't fair to begin with.
Bottom line for my fellow sun-sensitive friends: get this sunscreen, and enjoy :)
I took this on a vacation to Florida recently, mainly choosing this because at 3 oz, I could take it on my carry-on. I'd never tried this before, but I wanted a mineral sunscreen with me as I would be in waters with coral reefs and wanted to be as reef-safe as possible. I hated this. It is very thick, which is somewhat expected for SPF 50, but - if you're applying the correct amount - it leaves a white cast even when you think you've rubbed it in well. It got all over my swimsuit and wouldn't wash out. It gathered in my elbow crease and the creases on my hands, etc. And I don't know how it claims to last 80 minutes in water, because the instant I got wet at all, it seemed to rinse right off. I wasn't able to reapply it over itself well; it just wouldn't rub in. Overall, this was just a total failure for me. I've used other mineral sunscreens that are much better and more usable. It was so bad, that I wound up purchasing other sunscreen at my destination and leaving this behind because it wasn't worth trying to fit it back into my liquids bag. I would never buy this again.

This sunscreen has a pretty bad white cast, and I don't even apply an excessive amount. It also smells strongly of coconut and banana, I don't really like it. Scented sunscreen irritates my face. The sunscreen also has a burning sensation as well.

Overall, I like it. My skin felt very nice afterwards, probably because it contains coconut oil, shea butter and HA. It has a lot of fragrance though, which luckily I don't react to but I know it can be awful for some people and cause redness, breakouts, dryness, etc so be careful and of course there's a white cast but that's inevitable with mineral sunscreens.
I tested it at the beach today and it clearly worked because I burned on some parts where I didn't apply it and I just got a very light tan in the rest of my body.
The only reason why I don't give it 5 stars is because of the fragrance and phenoxyethanol.

I love this product to protect my tattoos. My only complaint is the initial grainy texture is a little irritating at first with application but smoothed out with rubbing it in. I don't mind the white cast that many mention. This product has allowed me to safely lay out to tan while also protecting my body art.

I use this to product as my go to protection for my tattoos, works like a charm! I have never tried it on my face, but I wouldn't suggest it. It is quite thick

I bought this because it's one of the VERY few sunscreens that do NOT contain the active ingredient Octocrylene, which is a carcinogen & causes skin cancer. it was shocking to learn that our options especially as parents or when cancer runs in your family, that products marketed to protect you from cancer do the exact opposite! mineral sunscreen takes longer to absorb into your skin but you will be thankful later!

I took a leap of faith buying this sunscreen and I could not bring myself to use it more than once. It smells overwhelmingly of coconut and it started to sting my face and eyes as soon as I put it on (and I did not even put it on/around my eyes!) My skin is typically not sensitive but I still had to wash this off immediately. It gave me a very noticeable white cast and I have a light complexion to begin with. I had high hopes for this mineral sunscreen and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. Sensitive skin beware!

I use this product as a facial sunscreen and I like it pretty well, while there is a white cast if you work it in your hands well before applying. It makes it significantly better!!! And it's ocean safe, which is important to me as I plan to go to Florida here soon!

I bought this because of all the great reviews but this is so thick and takes forever to sink in the skin! I have a medium light complexion and this left a slight white cast on me which I didn't like-especially when I put make up on. Also as soon as I put this on my face, I felt a burning sensation. I don't have sensitive skin at all so not sure why this happened! Save your $ buy something else

I love this sunscreen! It's effective and long-lasting. And it's cruelty-free and vegan.

I'm pretty fair, usually needing the lightest cool shade in a foundation range, and this sunscreen left an clear cast on my skin. It wasn't terrible, but if I could see it on my skin it's going to be pretty evident on someone who is darker. It's a mineral sunscreen so some cast is expected but I was surprised. Also, being mineral it's thicker but this one also leaves a weird, kind of tacky residue behind that doesn't fade. To mediate that I have to cut what I plan to use with a little bit of moisturizer (instead of putting on moisturizer first), work it in really well then dust with some finishing powder, especially if I don't plan on wearing foundation, etc. It's counter productive to have to do that but otherwise it feels like my face is going to catch every floating piece of lint I come across. Since I'm not outside a lot those extra steps make it useable so I'll finish the tube but I doubt I'll get another. It's disappointing because while my skin is both reactive and sensitive, I haven't had any problems with this formulation and that is a minor miracle.

This lotion is actually really nice on the skin there's not a very heavy white cast and it doesn't feel oily on the skin BUT the scented is so overwhelming I couldn't keep it on for long. I really enjoy the smell of sunscreen but this is VERY heavily coconut scented. I definitely won't buy it again but will keep it as an emergency one.

This is the only sunscreen that won't cause my son to have a reaction to. We've tried literally everything out there and this is the best. So thankful for this stuff!
Vivi from San Diego
I thought it was going to be more moisturizing but if you have dry skin you won't like it. It feels like it sucks the glow of the skin and it does leave a white cast. Instead, from the same brand I bought the Premium Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion and that one is amazing for dry skin!

I've had this one for a while, and at first I was applying too much at once. If you dot it on carefully and spread nicely at a time, it will leave a very slight, almost unnoticeable on me, white cast. It works for my acne prone skin and the scent doesn't irritate my skin like some products to. It took a small learning curve, but now its my new favorite! Will be repurchasing multiple bottles!
Mabbsi from Nevada
It does not rub into the skin well. The white overcast this product leaves on your face is very noticeable. It also stings/ burns. I will be returning.
valentina from ct
i did everything that you're supposed to do when you want to apply spf, and it didn't work out. it has a bad white cast, creases in fine lines, peeled my skin, and it was stinging my skin as well. i didn't mind the smell, though. it was also hard to blend in the skin.
dash6040 from Virginia
I don't have deep skin at all (Fenty 260) I have to put very little and I have to wait for it to melt into my skin- pretty heavy weight (very creamy)

I will buy this again

pros: didn't get sunburnt even after 5 hours of swimming in the sun, okay texture
cons: the white cast was terrible, my skin isn't even deep (true beige in nyx concealers) and this made me look like a ghost. each time i used it i would get asked why i looked so pale. it might work for people who are very fair but i really wouldn't recommend. if you do end up buying make sure to shake it before each use because it separates a lot. i wanted to love this but i'll just be using it for my body when i go swimming

I wear it alone or under makeup. Spreads well, less white cast than most zinc, smells like banana, nice texture, moisturizing, no itching/burning/stinging/blemishes; does not irritate my rosacea; does not sting eyes.
Geeekydenise from Nyc, ny
For a mineral sunscreen its pretty spot on. Not too greasy, very minimal white cast. The only reason why its way too strongly scented. I know its not labeled as a face sunscreen but I used it on my face as it is safe for it and wow the scent is too much. I had to wash it off as it gave me a headache. So yes for body, not great for face.
Emily from Roseville, CA
I'm prone to break out and over-producing oils when I have any type of moisturizer on my face. But I seriously love this SPF! It's not too heavy and after a few minutes the "feel" of sunscreen wears away. I wear this under my foundation and it doesn't affect wear at all.
Audrey from US
It's good, but not the best. Little to no white cast(I have super pale skin though). A little too small for the price point. I prefer the bare republic sport sunscreen.
Em from Oregon
Got this a month ago & I've found of you put it straight on your face there is a strong white cast, however if you warm it in your hands and then put it on your face there is no white cast. It appears to give me a bit of a glow, I have dry sensitive skin so I welcome any glow/dewiness. The banana scent goes away after 5-10 minutes. No irritation, which is surprising because fragrance usually makes me break out in hives. Overall would recommend for pale complexions with dry skin

i was looking for a sunscreen forever for daily use and this is it! i have extremely dry skin and with using this as the last step of my skincare routine, its perfect and doesnt feel heavy at all. great price for great ingredients and doesnt pose harm to the environment (which is important to me). people have issues with the white cast which i did at first, however when you put it in ur palms and warm it up with your hands then press it into the skin, it leaves little to no white cast (keep in mind i have very fair skin). also make sure with ANY sunscreen that your not globing it on, less is more and layer if anything. the only critique i have for it is that there is a slight fragrance of coconut but i have sensitive skin and its not an issue, simply just personal preference.
