I don't know why it's so hard to find lip balm with tint and SPF. The only other one I've seen is a Neutrogena balm, and it unfortunately has Oxybenzone in it.
Anyway, I have two colors of Coola Mineral Liplux SPF 30. Firecracker is a sheer red, which you can use for just a hint of berry tint or a bold red. I love it, and it deserves five stars. It smells great (Hibiscus), it's moisturizing, and it comes in a really cool twist-off-top metal tube. I lost my first one and immediately bought a replacement because it's so great. If you're going to get one color, get this one.
Then there's Summer Crush. First of all, it's not the color you expect. I was hoping, based on the color of the tube and the online swatch, for a vibrant coral pink. It is not. It's a very light, cool baby pink, a bit paler than my natural lip color. I do like it, but it probably wouldn't work for anyone less pale than me (and I am quite pale), or anyone with a warm undertone. Second of all, they decided to go with the scent "minty rose". Not only is that not a summer scent, it is absolutely atrocious. For five minutes it's like I've slathered my grandmother's perfume under my nose, then the smell dissipates (thank god). Why doesn't it smell like coconut? Or pineapple? Or anything remotely tropical or summery? The color and the scent make the name "summer crush" a complete misnomer for this product. It would be better called "spring rose" or "baby pink" something.
That being said, it's a good product and I will still use it for shade variety. I can't imagine what the other, apparently lighter shades must be like. Coola could really do with a re-vamp of this line and some new colors. I would definitely be interested in one of these balms in that coral color I was hoping for.
Most Helpful Critical Review Extremely dry
I really wanted to like this balm. I had been searching for one with color and SPF for a long time. It gets one star for being cruelty-free. Unfortunately, there is nothing else I like about the product. The balm itself is so dry. I'm looking at it right now and can clearly see how dried out it is. I can barely get it on my lips. It's very difficult to apply and uncomfortable on. It also dries out my lips. I am also not a fan of the scent. For the price, I'm very disappointed.

I bought the Firecracker red which is a nice shot of color with added protection. This is a great product and I wish I found it sooner! I keep one in my purse in the summer and another one in my beach bag.

I wanted this for the SPF 30 and it seems to work very well. The color looks orange but goes on a very nice neutral lip color. just a hint of color.
So happy to finally find a mineral sunscreen lip balm!

Love the formulation. Most sunscreen lip balms are chemical-based, so I was very happy to find this mineral balm. Looking forward to trying more colors!

This stuff is AMAZING!!! I've used for about 6 months now and just purchased 3 more for my girls and another tint fir myself. It is so smooth, moisturizing, looks good, and smells amazing!! I've always had a hard time finding an spf formula that works and provides the moisture I need and this one even has beautiful subtle colors that look natural. Highly recommend!!!!

Absolutely love my Coola products for myself and family!

This lip balm is not balmy whatsoever. It does the opposite of what a lip balm is supposed to do, it dries my lips out so much. Plus it has a weird floral taste. I wanted a lip balm with sun protection in the summer time, but this one isn't it. I returned it after a week of having it, sadly.
I love this lip balm!

I love the different colors.

I love the different colors. This lip sunscreen makes me feel not only protected, but also good looking.
The way it applies to my lips is comfortable and it doesn't feel like something heavy or thick was applied.
I definitely will recommend the Mineral Liplux to my girlfriends when going to the beach.
I really like the concept

I really like the concept of a mineral sunscreen with color. Unfortunately, the color I received smelled like playdough, and I have heard this is a sign of rancid product. I'm not sure if it's just the way this product smells. I do live in Arizona so not sure if product went bad while in shipping.
Not as drescribed

I purchased this lip balm with high hope for performance but unfortunately I find this lip balm is very drying, color is barely there, the only thing useful is that it has SPF in it but since my lips are so chapped after using this, unfortunately i'll be looking for other lip balm with spf in it
Great color and creamy

Awesome color and texture. I'm not the biggest fan of the chocolate mint ice cream flavor but it's not that bad.
Doesn't tint like you think it does.
Cinthia M. from undisclosed
Color really doesn't show up on lips like it shows on the website that it tints.
Doesn't cover up anything in color really.
Great spf for the beach though.

Don't love this. It's a bit dry/sticky (doesn't feel moisturizing), and the color is really pale/pasty and not good on me at all. I wouldn't recommend this color for anyone unless they're really really pale. Even then... it's not so flattering.
not the worst but not satisfactory

i bought this thinking i wouldn't have to look for anymore vegan tinted spf lip balms. unfortunately, i was wrong and will have to keep looking. i got the coral color balm and although it tastes and smells nice, the finish on my lips looks awful. even when i take extra steps to moisturize my lips beforehand, the product doesn't evenly apply and seems to seep into my lip lines, making them obviously. the application isn't exactly streaky but it leaves small sections of my lips uncovered despite my attempts at smoothing out the balm all throughout my lips. the best attempt at a solution i've found is putting only one swipe of lip balm on my upper lip and pressing my lips together to try and get even, although extremely thin, coverage that looks better than peeling paint on my lips. i have tan/caramel skin and the lip balm color already doesn't do me any favors. i won't be buying again after the lip balm runs out.
At first I wasn't sure
Dina A. from undisclosed
At first I wasn't sure about this because it is more lipstick like than lip balm like, but now I am obsessed! It wears longer than most lip sunscreen products and for that reason, I just ordered two more tubes. The shade Skinny Dip is perfect for a pale every day summer look.

Read some of the reviews before buying and even though some were not so good, I went ahead and got it.
Some said it was not balmy and applied dry but it applied really smooth for me. I always exfoliate and moisturize my lips so maybe that was the problem for others? I treat my lips as a part of the rest of my skin. Face sunscreen looks gross too when you don't consistently exfoliate and always moisturize. It didn't leave a white cast for me. It was a cute pinky tint with no weird taste either. I also saw people saying it was cakey after reapplication. I don't know about you guys but even with regular lipstick that happens. I haven't experienced the cakey-ness because I always wipe off my lip product before reapplying (something I've always done). Another cool thing is the packaging twists so the cap doesn't pop off in your purse. Overall, I really enjoy this lip balm (and I've tried a lot!)

I LOVE this product! IT's creamy, moisturizing, a beautiful color, and protects my lips from the Costa Rica sun. Thank you Coola!
Very dry- not balm

This product is very dry and smells old. It hurts my lips to apply it. There is nothing smooth and balmy about this lip balm at all. For such an expensive product, i'm very disappointed.
Dry and hard to apply
Simmie from Las Vegas
I love their products especially their shower gel! I'm thinking I got a defective lip balm though - not easy to apply and definitely doesn't feel creamy either.

Purchased this as part of a Mother's Day gift for my mother who loves a bright lipstick, (even if she's just going to the grocery store). I'm a huge Coola fan and put together a care-package. Mom loved that this provided moisture to her dried lips in the FL sun, but said the color was very subtle. It's not as vibrant/bright as I hoped for my lipstick-loving mom!
