Most Helpful Positive Review Excellent Masque If you are looking for a cost-effective deep treatment for medium or thick curly hair, this is a must. It's very hydrating and soft. It detangles my hair easily. I have a 2c/3a curly hair.
Most Helpful Critical Review Not great I have always loved hair masks. I had a favorite one from Pureology that was discontinued. And then I found the Wella Fusionplex and loved it. I've also tried the Living Proof Restore mask. All of those are much better than this one.
I bought this because I had a flub with the hair color I used. Instead of fantasy purple I got eggplant black. So I was told to apply Vitamin C as a mask with clarifying shampoo, and leave on for 30-60 minutes, in order to remove some of the dye and lighten it. And that after that I would need an intensive hair mask. The associate at Ulta recommended this one. The Vitamin C worked like a charm. This stuff: not so much.
I've used it three times and it's not at all hydrating enough or in the right way.
On the plus side I have shoulder length hair and I still have a ton left. At least three more applications. So a little goes a long way. I'll use it till it's done. But I won't buy more.

This is a decent hair mask. I have thick, multi textured wavy hair with dry ends so while I still have some frizz, my ends look much better. It rinsed out well and doesn't feel heavy or oily at my roots. My only qualm with this product is the overpowering perfume after scent. I prefer unscented products in general so I find it particularly intense despite being rinsed throughly. If you're sensitive to scents/perfume, you might want to pass on this mask.
Fixed my hair after styling for wedding 5
CG from Denver
Background: fine, thin, 2c and 3a spirals curls
I have been CG for about 6 years- no silicones or sulfates, air dry most of the time, when I blow dry it's on low, no heat.
My hair needed to be styled a certain way for a wedding. The stylist used silicones on my hair in addition to blow drying with heat, curling with a hot iron and pinning my hair tight. I also got some balayage highlights to give dimension to the style. A month after my hair has been frizzy and fried. So dry, brittle, and zig-zagged curls.
The directions say to leave it on for 5 minutes. I left it on for two hours. Wow I almost have my full curls back. The ends are still a little dry. But, a couple more wash cycles with this and I think my curls will heal much faster than originally planned.
Highly recommend for a moisture mask or CG newbies who are trying to reverse damage.

More coconut oil than the other oils. 3
Lori from USA
If you like coconut oil, this might be a good deep conditioner for you. However, the oils that are emhasized on the packaging are lower on the ingredient list. Coconut oil is the 3rd ingredient. No much of the other oils in comparison.
I've used better. 3
Liz from Richfield
I definitely agree with other reviews on it not smelling the greatest. Got 2 uses out of the package, but it's super thick. Took a while to feel like I got majority of it rinsed out. Didn't really make my hair feel any different than when I do my normal routine. If anything it made my hair feel more oily and not really feel clean.
it was OK 2
Liz from Richfield
It was OK at best. Definitely agree with reviews on it smelling somewhat like Play-doh. I much rather prefer hair products that have more of a smell to them. Way too much for me to use in one shower. The smell was not all that great and it was SUPER thick. My hair still felt a little dirty after using because of how thick the product is.

Nothing fantastic 2
Lbanana from Philly
My hair is no softer than when I use a regular $2 drug store conditioner. I understand it's made with natural ingredients but it smells like straight play-doh which is hard to ignore. I still can smell it the next day. Directions for use state to wash hair, apply and sit under one of those salon dryers- which the average person definitely doesn't have available for at-home use. Maybe I would have seen better results using this method.
I love this product:) 5

I really like this product. It's great for my high porosity type 3B hair which frizzes as well. I use this once a week to restore my hair's moisture level. Doesn't leave my hair greasy feeling. Wonderful fragrance. I don't care for the sweet or strong coconut smells. If I need to, during the week I use it as a co-wash for a better shine to my hair. I just wish I didn't have to purchase this at another retailer to get the large tub.
Beats my top shelf conditioners! 5

I am known for my long, thick, curly red mane and I love trying new products...THIS IS NOW A STAPLE on my hair care routine! Too bad Shea doesn't make a tub of this! I literally buy them 5x at a time. LOVE THIS STUFF!!

Literally my favorite hair mask ever. my hair is long and wavy and tends to get frizzy and dry easily, but this makes my hair so soft and shiny. i use it at least once a week. super affordable too for such a great product.

This mask is the best! 5
Cass from Salt Lake City
I just moved to Salt Lake City from LA and it's super dry here. My hair has completely suffered and turned into a dry, brittle mess. I was constantly getting tangles and split ends. I got this product and it is amazing. I used it at night in the shower, left it on for 10-15 min while I showered and then rinsed it out. I let my hair air dry over night and woke up with beautiful, soft waves. My boyfriend even commented on how good it looked. I bought all the hair masks from this brand. I'm a brand loyalist now for life!

Weird Smell but otherwise AMAZING 4

I loved this hair masque. I have 3C/4A and this made my hair feeling soft and great. But the smell was strange and a little weird.
Broke out, odd smell, heavy, wish I liked it 2

I'm so sad about this product. So it does feel hydrating going on, the packet gives you a decent amount for multiple uses. I have shoulder length medium thickness hair that not too damaged just dry from pregnancy. My entire hairline has broken out. I have never had that happen before and my forehead rarely gets acne. On top of that, my hair feels and looks heavy and just gross. Also having mixed feelings about the smell... part of me likes it but a good chunk can't stand it. Gave the rest away.
great for 2c / 3a colored hair 5
Sozizzle from San Diego CA
I been using this for a few weeks and is great for my type of hair, I have mixed 2c/3a/classic curl balayage pink and I seen a great improvement on my curls, I even got comments that my curls look great
Holy Grail 5
Pyxis from Idaho
I use a lot of hair masks, and nothing comes close to this one, even the high end masks. I put it on under a heated cap for 30 minutes and it makes my hair feel very hydrated. (I have 3b/high porosity hair)

Many better deep conditioning treatments out there. Nothing great about this. Prefer the biolage smooth pack for something more intense
Finally! 5
Queen Bee from Harrisburg, PA
Ok so with this, I finally found something that says and does exactly what it's supposed to. I have tried a bunch of the Shea Moisture brands for the deep conditioning and they are all great, but this one seems to have really helped my hair. I have 2c/3a hair, very thin and damaged Right now my hair is blonde, and honestly, for the first time in a long time, I got some very springy curls. I love this product and glad I tried the sample packet first. I will now be buying the bigger one.
