Most Helpful Positive Review New favorite holy grail!! I have been using this product for about two weeks now. I didn't want to write a review right off because I like to try it different ways and wear it several days to see if I really love the product as much as I did the first time I tried it. First off all I love the concept and how you can grind up fresh powder every time. It is very thinly milled and velvety smooth. I thought it was going to be to dark at first glance but it ended up being perfect. I didn't like that the cap was attached and I couldn't dump some product on the cap to not be so messy. It seems to make a mess when I did my brush in. But honestly because of how well this product worked for me I'm still giving it five stars. I usually have a very hard time keeping product on my nose and top lip. Actually I have never gone a full day before without loosing any product there until I tried this. Now mind you I have very dry skin. And this didn't make my skin look caked at all. It didn't even look like I had powder on. My skin looked airbrushed and it continued like that for a full ten hours every time I wore it. I didn't see any problems at all. I like that it's a vegan product and comes in many colors. And I'm super excited to get my hands on the foundation version of this. This picture was taken in my bathroom light after ten hours of wear. Without any filters or any editing at all. This product also wore beautifully under my eyes which I never ever find anything that doesn't look horrid under my mom eyes. ;)
Most Helpful Critical Review on the fence I'm still on the fence about this powder. I've tried it over full coverage foundations, light coverage, and just over primer and concealer. I'm not really wild about it on top of full coverage foundation. It someone ends up making my skin look oilier through out the day when I wore it with FC and I know it wasn't anything else because I kept all other variables the same. But with light coverage or just concealer for no makeup makeup days, it did pretty well. I'm still definitely gonna use it up but I would recommend it for using for lighter makeup days. It wasn't long wearing with fuller coverage but was for lighter coverage and I'm not fully sure how that works but oh well. The grinding feature is interesting but honestly kinda gimmicky to me. I don't see the actual purpose of it. Didn't notice much of a difference in coverage from the powder. All in all it's a nice powder I just don't think I'd repurchase because I wasn't wowed.

This is a beautiful gold bronze color!!! Altho first thing, this does not travel well as it broke in shipping & i heard a lot of similar stories. Next, this is glittery ): if it wasnt so glittery I wouldnt have returned it smh i was really looking forward to this!!
Goes on sheer, yet effective 5
Brainyblonde from La Verne, California
This is cruelty free which for me is a must. The smooth powder is sheer yet effective. You twist to release just a little bit at a time. No messes that way and always fresh besides.
Worst container design for setting powder! 2
Karlita from San Antonio
Setting powder works great, but not ideal to take on the go. There is no sponge that comes with or anything to hold powder in place after use, so the powder gets all over the place. Thus wasting product and gets everywhere in purse or makeup bag!!

I LOVED Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder! This one (Fresh Setting & Perfecting) is terrible. It's much less product for more money, my usual shade (Light) is too dark and orange, and I don't like the texture. The other was so much softer. I really like Smashbox products, but not this. Will definitely return it and shop for a different brand. Bummer.
Best Face Powder Ever! 5
Vicki from TX
I purchased this powder last week and I absolutely love it. I'm a little older than most that probably use this, I'm 58. On me it is silky and light weight, like nothing is even on my face but it gave my face full coverage, it covered my under eye darkness and the red area around my nose. I used a face powder brush and I was done in seconds. I am hooked. I love this product.
I absolutely love this product. 5

For years I have used Smashbox Halo — it is so great to have it again!
Prefer the original 3

The color on the halo product is so off. I loved the original powder. I'm normally a light medium neutral but tested this in the store and the light neutral was way to dark and looked orange. I grabbed the light thinking it would be fine…I got home only to discover it to was to dark and orange… because I do love the powder I'll be returning for the fair/light. Also, not happy I'm paying more for less product…
Such a pretty powder 5

I use just with primer or I use with tinted moisturizer for a natural finish and use it to set my foundation when I'm doing a full coverage look. Such a healthy looking powder never cakey or heavy looking.

I am someone who doesn't wear foundation so I look for a face powder that will melt into the skin. This does exactly that and you do not need much at all! I like that there is a mirror and you twist the cap to get the exact amount of powder. It doesn't sink into fine lines or emphasize texture. It provides some blurring, gives a natural glow and looks like skin.
My favorite powder!! 5

I'm an ex makeup artist with oily skin. I LOVE this as my setting powder. Highly recommend. I use this new packaging powder and I used the old one. Both are great!!
My favorite! 5

It's very light & doesn't cake!
Soft and shiny 4

Very soft to the touch and a little does go a long way. Disappointed mine came broken, only half is covered by plastic shield, so the other half shattered in transit
Perfect powder 5

I am super picky about face makeup and I love this, not sure why all the negative reviews. I don't like heavy face makeup. I wear concealer under my eyes and I want just enough coverage to not make it obvious I'm only wearing concealer and even out the tone difference. I wear light medium to medium shades normally, have major issues with things either making me look pale or orange which is why I tend to get a neutral or olive (on the rare occasion olive is available as an undertone option) I got this in light neutral and it's perfect. Buildable coverage, and looks very natural on me. I have combination skin and it didn't flake up into my dry spots or trigger breakouts. Really no complaints. I like the container, doesn't waste much. I'm the type of person this size container would last at least a year though, as I said I am not into heavy makeup so if you are this may not be for you.

This new Fresh Perfectig Powder has less quantity, just 10 grams instead of 15 grams, which was very little anyway for the price paid, compared to Clinique powder which is 35 grams for less money. The packaging is almost the same, so imagine all the plastic and metal waste for just 10 grams of powder. The shades are darker, even FAIR is too dark and orange. Won't buy again, unless they go back to the olde product and increase the size to something decent, like 30 grams. For this kind of money I can buy Chane or Dior which are much better!
Not my type 3

Had for a few weeks. The cover seems to constantly fall off and it comes off with so much shine and glitter type coverage its too much "glow"
great but too expensive 3

So I have been using this powder and brand for years and so every time they change the packaging...I just go with it. However, I noticed this time that the powder did not last very long. I am not a heavy user either. It use to last months...But now I am out again after a short time using it. I will be actively looking for a replacement brand.
Looking forward to a new summer standard go-to! 5

I tried the Halo tinted moisturizer which was good at evening out without being glittery. Adding this powder gave me the set for the foundation, adjustable coverage, and didn't look chalky! I am in love and just ordered a second order of each to have on hand for travel.
Halo powder 2
Genesis from Snellville
I got recommended this why an employee to set under my eyes & it was not good. Shade range is weird. I got a light neutral first too dark then light but still felt like it was little too orange. Looked better all over my face but was a little cakey in my opinion.

This is the first time hearing of this product when I went on online to check the makeup at the Ulta Beauty store. I am very please that I did. The Salesperson that help me with choosing the correct shade for my skin did an excellent job, because it mash perfect. I will be going back to soon to purchase more.
Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder (Medium/Dark) 3
Z from Baltimore, MD
This is the powder I've been using for years! You have since changed to this Halo Fresh Perfecting Powder (Dark/Neutral) and the color is definitely different. The new powder with the new shade is too dark. I like the old one so much better. Why did you change it. Once you get the perfect shade you change it. Not pleased at all. I love smash box but can't get pass this new change. Please go back to the original color and powder. It's not the same. Thank you
Works well with the foundation and without 4
Honest from Bastrop, TX
Purchased this smashbox setting power with the smashbox foundation. I liked how they worked together. With the exception that the powder darkened the foundation. Of course I purchased 1.1 foundation and the fair/light powder. It wasn't a bad difference but it does change it. Other than that its a very good quality powder. Love the size of the container. Its worth the money.
Product increases in price and shrinks 30% in volume. 2
PROF from Virginia Beach, VA
I have been using Halo powder since it was first introduced. I love the product but noticed that it has gone from .50oz/15g, down to .35oz/10g. This is a 30% reduction in product. I wouldn't mind the reduction but the price has increased steadily over the past few years. As with so many products...sneaky and deceptive marketing.
Perfect color match! 5
Ap1005 from Tampa, FL
Very happy with this setting powder. I like to wear just concealer with a setting powder instead of foundation for an everyday no makeup look. When worn without foundation, most translucent powders leave a white cast and most tinted setting powders are too yellow or orange. This powder is perfect to wear without foundation because it actually matches my skin tone and provides light coverage. The powder wears nicely and kept my face from turning oily through the day. I also really like the powder grinding mechanism that gives you loose powder without the mess.
Good product but too expensive for smaller size 3
Momma K from CA
I've used this product for a while now and really liked it. However, I will not purchase it anymore because they have reduced the size of the powder but did not reduce the price. It is definitely too expensive for what you get. I found a new powder foundation that works just as well for half the price.
I wouldn't buy this again 3
Brie from California
This product is definitely not worth the price. I thought trying out a new powder would be fun but after using it compared to my $10 powder it just was not worth it, in my opinion. Plus I'm use to apply powders without using a brush so it just wasn't for me.
