Most Helpful Positive Review Am a Nioxin convert I started using all Nioxin 3 products one month ago; shampoo, conditioner, scalp treatment, volumizing thickening spray and extra hold hairspray. Since I use them all together, it's hard to say specifically if one of the products works or doesn't. In my honest opinion, the Nioxin line has improved the body and texture of my hair greatly. I recently turned 51 and it's been within the last year or two that I noticed my hair thinning (mostly on the sides). I keep my hair in a chin-length, layered bob. It's always been fine so it's always been a challenge to make it look fuller and healthier. But this line of products does that. The shampoo and conditioner have a (very) strong eucalyptus/menthol fragrance and they do make my scalp tingle (I like it - it feels like something is happening). A little bit of shampoo goes a long way. When I'm rinsing the product out, my hair does feel thicker...like I have a bigger handful than before. I use the scalp treatment after I towel dry my hair. It's very watery (not sticky) and the nozzle is a strange choice for an applicator; it can run down your face if you squirt too much on. I don't know that I'm seeing any specific results from the scalp treatment yet (but I read it takes three months) but it does work well in conjunction with the other products. I use the thickening spray as a styling product - lightly spraying it all through my hair. It really injects fullness and lightness into my hair (no stickiness or heaviness). I finish it off with the hairspray (again, not heavy or sticky) and I am generally very happy with the outcome. I'd recommend watching a video on how to blow dry your hair using a large round brush for volume. A good haircut along with the right products, tools and techniques makes it possible for those of us not blessed with beautiful hair to have good hair days. I do think Nioxin is the right product for me. I would highly recommend trying it.
Most Helpful Critical Review This product accelerates color fade dramatically! Regardless of the Nioxin 3 label claiming to be for colored hair, I found this product accelerates color fade dramatically. The two main ingredients after water are Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. If you color you hair, you probably know to stay away from sulfate shampoos. These surfactants are very effective at cleaning. They remove oils very well and heavy build-ups?of polymers from hair. ?That is why they are often included in shampoos for fine hair. Sulfate shampoos, being great cleaners, will remove layers of conditioning. Once the protective layers are gone, water can penetrate hair easily. The result: faster color loss. My experience with Nioxin 3 was awful.

I just started using this for my thinning hair due to thyroid and menopause, it smells minty and the conditioner leaves a fresh tingling afterwards. I've only heard great reviews so I'm hoping to have the same

My former stylist turned me onto this years agoAnd I've used it ever since. I put this on in the shower come out my hair and leave it on while I get ready for day, But I'm also going to add it to some water in a spray bottle as a detangler. π
Hair loss and not safe for color treated hair 1
Huladancer from Baltimore
The first thing I noticed after my first use was how much it stripped my color from my hair. Actually I was shocked as it says it's for color treated hair so after ONE wash it was surprisingly lifting the color. I decided to use it only one day a week. I also noticed significant hair loss when I washed with these was way worse than normal. Don't get my wrong I normally lose hair when I wash. I lose hair when I comb or style. It's just a part of my life since I can remember. But this was a significant amount and only when I washed with this treatment. Regular wash days it was back to normal amount. I read online if you lose hair, stop using it. I also read on another site the hair loss is temporary and transitional and it eventually stops with continuous use. I was going to try to continue and work past the transition phase but I got a glimpse of the back of my head in a mirror and I nearly dropped my mirror. The hair loss is very significant! Back in the area where a man would go bald! I mean, bad. I took photos before my first wash and I took photos today to have a side by side comparison and it is definitely worse. I just can't continue. I wish I had a better experience and I went in with an open mind but it's just not for me.

Says it's good for colored hair - NOT! from Carson
Do not buy this stuff! It strips your hair, drys it out very bad and it's not safe for colored hair even though it says it is. Disappointed in the Compton, CA store manager, I had this stuff for 2 weeks, washed only 3x/week and yet she said I used too much of it β¦.how!?!?!
Save yourself the trouble, micro needle your scalp and use biotin oil β¦that's more promising.
I will continue buying this product 5

I have been using this product for years and love it.
Only used the treatment 4
Diane C from New Jersey
I only use the treatment, not the entire system. I have used #1 and #3 and got similar results. After a few uses I do notice a lot less hair in my shower drain. I use my usual shampoo & conditioner because there isn't one for curls. If I stop using it or run out I notice the hair starts falling again. I blame my hormones but this really does help and it's less expensive than the one you see all over Instagram in the pink bottle. I spray about 10 times very close to my scalp and use my fingertips to massage it in. Works for me!
My my hair fall out!! 1
BT from WA
This shampoo and the conditioner was a total disappointment. It did the opposite of what I wanted, I needed a shampoo that would help with thinning hair and what it did was make my hair fall out even more. And this happened EVERY time I shampooed my hair. Not ever purchasing this again and I would not recommend it to anyone. My advice is that you find find a shampoo and conditioner that is free of harmful chemical and stick to something more natural and full vitamins.
Must have! 4

I love this product after two uses. My hair has stopped thinning already, and my hair color looks much more vibrant. If you can get past the slight smell and tingling scalp it is a MUST HAVE.

Hate this set. Hate it with a passion. Leaves me so oily and greasy. Not worth the money. Very disappointed.
Waste of money 3
hockeygirl773 from TN
This was a huge waste of money. Lost more hair while using this than before. I know it's normal to lose a little more at 1st but this was ridiculous. Made my hair dry also.
Such a pleasant surprise 5
Cyndi from CT
Up until a few months ago my hair was full and healthy. I am blaming the vaccine and or the stress of the epidemic. My hair has been been falling out by the handfuls every day. Tried other things but nothing worked, I have been using this for over a week now and see a considerable difference. My hair definitely feels stronger and does not look so lackluster. I will continue to use this until I feel I see regrowth. I would recommend trying.

Worst conditioner - causes more tangles! 1
Autumn Hiker from Minneapolis, MN
I have never used a conditioner that gave me such horrible tangle issues. Losing hair due to alopecia is traumatizing enough, but even GENTLY combing out all the tangles breaks the hair and pulls MORE out. I use an additional leave-in spray detangler and it is still a challenge. My hair isn't even that long.
I am open to suggestions if other users had more success w/ a different hair-loss shampoo and conditioner.

A good shampoo, conditioner and a leave in style product.
It appears to do as advertised. 4
Earthmother31951 from Spokane Valley, WA
This is the second of three steps. First you wash your hair, then use this conditioner and then there is a treatment for the scalp. I find that it is working to regrow my hair.
Dried out my hair 2
Lo from Washington DC
This conditioner made my hair very straw-like to the touch, and the ends began looking very scraggly. I stopped using it and switched to a different conditioner and the problem went away quickly. Many conditioners feel "rich" when you apply them - this one did not. It didn't seem like it did a good job of detangling my hair. It does smell very good, and the peppermint made my scalp tingle.
Does anybody read labels anymore 5

1st off everyone's gripe in about having a rash so I wanna know one thing deja what which system did you buy because there's like 5 systems ones for normal hair within one's for coloured hair with thinning then there's another 1 and another 1 there's like 10 different brands and you have to make sure you get the 1 that says 4 colour treated hair if not then your hair's gonna lose colour obviously and read the labels the warning says do a patch test but obviously none yelled at that but the 1 who put it on her arm was smart she did the test nothing wrong with this product is a great product 1st off everyone's mad over having a rash. so I wanna know one thing did yall learn in school or from parents, ALWAYS READ LABELS AN FOLLOW DIRECTIONS!!! ALSO which system did you buy because there's like 10 systems ones for normal hair, within one's for colored hair with thinning , there's another 1for fine ,thinning colored,an a normal hair . there's like 10 different systems in the collection. you have to make sure you get the 1 .that says 4 color treated hair if not then your hair's gonna lose color. obviously none of yall read the labels ("warning says do a patch test" )but obviously none followed warnings only the lady who put it on her arm was smart ,she did the test nothing wrong with this product. is a great product . you teachers & parents teach us read the directions and follow them . period
for everyone speaking of rash . Read Labels 5
DeeDeej46 from Haughton la
Everyone's gripen about having a rash OK do you all read because clearly at stake do a patch test 1st this is for people who may have a reaction to the chemicals in this the chemicals yes are meant to strip hair and get a clean and also wheel strip colour so colour saves they should not have said that they should have said it could lighten your hair a few shades but anyone with santa knows those chemicals do not belong on your skin so you shouldn't did a patch test you cannot blame the company for that you can only blame yourself for not doing what the direction said
I returned the product and do not recommend it. 1
Still looking from New Mexico
I used the products soon after getting fresh lowlights. At first I thought I was mistaken that my hair looked lighter but after using the system a few more times, I took it back to the store, grateful for Ulta's return policy. My stylist confirmed the change and said the color had lightened about two levels. Nioxin may have eventually helped my thinning hair, but I like my lowlights. Use with caution.
Good shampoo but a little pricy. 4

NOT color-safe 1
Miss K from Southeastern Pennsylvania
I used this ONE time and my color faded dramatically, leaving my hair dull and frizzy. Now I have to pay the cost to send it back and to go to my salon to have the professional color fixed.
Worst hair product i have ever used.
Not losing hair, but it feels like straw 2
Amanda from Missouri
My hair did stop falling put so quickly, but it's also super dry. I've never struggled with dry hair. My ends are split and breaking off. I have tried two different systems and both were the same.
Price increase? 4
Rau from AZ
I have used this product for quite some time and do like it. This last purchase seemed to me to cost considerable more than the last time I purchased it. I'll watch and see where that goes, but won't pay this same price in the future. May have to switch brands.
So far good results! 5

My hair was starting to look thinner on top. After just using twice, my hair looks and feels thicker.
