Most Helpful Positive Review It didnt give me Jennifer Aniston's hair ...but that would require nothing short of magic.
I am, however, impressed with what it's done for the fine, straight hair that the genetic lottery stuck me with.
Living Proof is the first thickening/volumizing line that has not left me on the fence about whether it actually works or not, and I have tried way more than a few.
I use this cream and/or the PhD cream along with the root lifting spray and I was amazed from the start at how much fuller and thicker my hair looked and felt. My hair doesn't go flat after a few hours like it does with other volume products, and it will hold a style longer, as well. It has kind of an odd smell, but it's totally grown on me.
It's a bit pricey, but a little goes a long way (seriously, if you use too much you'll want to hop right back into the shower and wash your hair) so a bottle will last a lot longer than expected, making it worth the investment. But if you just want to try it out without forking over too much cash, the travel sized products are a good deal.
Most Helpful Critical Review Didn't work for me I did a lot of research on this product before I bought it. The price was a big commitment for me, I have straight fine hair and absolutely no volume. I was hoping this would make my hair appear thicker and that was not the case. I knew I wouldn't see drastic results but at least something. Nope I felt a texture difference but that was it. I really wanted this product to work for me.

This product gives my hair the feeling and look of fullness. My hair is short so I only use half the size of a dime. I also use mousse. If you use too much you hair will feel sticker. Because I'm getting older my hair is thinning and this product helps give it fullness. Too bad you can only buy this product on line. The Ulta stores don't seem to carry this product.
thickening creme is good 4

Too thick and oily for genuinely baby fine hair 2

On Baby Fine Hair and this product:
I have real baby fine hair. Lots of people talk about having baby fine hair, but really don't. It's a mixed blessing. Straight baby fine hair is so smooth that clips, bands, etc. can slide out of it unless there's silicone on the inside of a clip to grip the hair. If your baby fine hair is light in color, it may be almost see-through when backlit. This is not great if you want to feel like you have a nice full head of hair. If you take a strand of baby fine hair and hold it parallel to the floor, the strand itself is such a small diameter that it forms almost a sharp 90-degree angle hanging straight down from the edge of your fingers; no curve of any sort as it hangs down. It's hard for straight baby fine hair to hold a curl unless you do harsh stuff to make it hold. That, in turn, damages your hair. Almost any processing damages baby fine hair. It's also very easy to break strands of baby fine hair so you have to comb or brush carefully. Baby fine hair will blow everywhere if there's the slightest breeze. In my case, that means I've always got messy hair. Light baby fine hair is a pain if it gets blown onto your face or into your eyelashes. You can feel it's there, but it's hard to see the individual delicate strands and hard to detect them with your fingers. That's the scoop on baby fines. You live with it and figure out how to deal with it.
BUT, straight baby fine hair can be so shiny and smooth that it can look and feel as luxurious as silk when it's in good condition. Like babies' hair! This can be lovely if your hair is thick enough.
I've tried this product as directed with bad results. The product is too oily or thick even when put on extremely sparingly, so it weighs my hair down, making it look unwashed and stringy. So, I decided to try to use it as a rinse after shampooing, and have had better luck. I distribute it throughout the hair from roots to tips and then rinse it out. Baby fine hair people will feel a kind of stickiness or roughness once it is rinsed out, and will have to comb their hair carefully so as not to break it, but it adds product in just the right amount for real baby fine hair to have some bounce and look thicker without weighing it down or making it look greasy. It's not going to be a dramatic difference though.
I have had far better luck with the Living Proof Thickening Mousse. After trying what feels like hundreds of conditioners, mousses and creams that did nothing, LP Mousse has been my go-to product. It's the only product I've found that makes my hair look thicker and that lasts all day looking great. It makes me feel almost like I have normal-people-hair! But I take breaks. I found that blow-drying damages my hair too easily, and the mousse, although super effective at making my hair look thicker and giving it more body, makes my hair sticky enough that I break hair easily, even when combing gently. So, Baby Fine Sisters take note. You have to handle your hair really gently with these products. Personally, I'd opt for the LP mousse over the cream, and be gentle with my hair. Hope this info helps!

I was always looking for a hair product to add volume and body to my fine straight hair and have found it. I love love love it and have recommended it to my sisters.
The only thing that has ever worked 5
JL from Nashville
I have long, very straight, fine hair. It dries straight naturally and I have never used a blow dryer. This is the only product I've ever found that gives my hair lasting volume when it's more than shoulder length. I've tried all manner of treatments and mousses; some worked for about an hour but most just weighed my hair down. This one lasts all day and is not sticky or oily.
I would buy again and again! 5

Damaged my hair 1
Jan from Logan, UT
I have fine hair but a lot of it, I used this to give a little volume to my hair. It made my hair so frizzy I'm afraid it damaged my hair. I used it on damp hair and blow dried on low. I was so disappointed in this product.
Holy grail for fine hair 5
AlainaR from Philadelphia
I have super straight fine hair, but I have a lot of it (although you couldn't tell). I got this cream, and sweet mama my hair is so full! I use the full shampoo & conditioner first, and then use this cream along with the Living Proof Perfect hair day 5 in 1 styling cream as well. None of the products make my hair feel weighed down, or leave it looking greasy and product filled (like most other products do). BUY THIS!!!
Love it! 4

Not Worth the Money 1

After experimenting with amounts, etc this product does little if anything. Sticking to a good mousse for your roots is a better bet.
I have purchased many times. 5

Did nothing for my hair 1
JD from AR
This is overpriced to begin with. This did absolutely nothing for my hair. I purchased the entire set of products for this line. Was very disappointed and returned them all.
The best I've found 5
AlleyCat from PA
I have tried so many products for my thinning hair. I usually end up with either greasy, dull or stiff hair. I have short hair and use about a dime size (as seen on a YouTube video) and work it well into your damp hair. It gives nice volume without the stiffness or dullness, while keeping the shine of my highlighted hair
Gave me a bad hair day 1
CHERIE from Tucson AZ
I bought this going by the ratings and was very disappointed. I tried using it 8 to 10different times using less then more, on drier vs. wetter and it's did not matter, it just looked greasy.
I will never buy this product again. 1

This product is very drying to thin hair and caused a great deal of static.
The BEST! 5
Regina72865 from Akron, Ohio
I rarely write a review unless I absolutely LOVE a product... and I do! So many other products for volume leave my hair hard, stiff, sticky etc.. my hair is so soft and full. I also usually end up using more product that suggested but I followed the directions and I'm so glad that I did. This bottle will last a long time. It's not expensive when you realize how well it works and how long this bottle will last! I'm so glad I found this!
Got Thin hair? Here's your Holy grail ! 5
Coreylynnb123 from Columbus, Ohio
My hair is super duper thin. I received a travel size as a gift with purchase when I bought my favorite PHD shampoo & conditioner. These products go hand in hand! My hair is voluminous & styles with ease when I use this product. A little goes a long way! Doesn't cause oiliness & there is minimum buildup. Highly recommend for those with thin hair😌😍

I have really fine hair. This is one of the few products that gives it volume that lasts all day, without weighing it down or getting greasy. It's my go-to for events where I need to look my best!

I love it. I used it with the thickening mouse and gave my hair so much texture.
Really works 5

Only product over the years that helps make my fine hair appear thicker. Usually products are too heavy or don't with. Just a dime size does the trick.
