A nice powder worth trying.This is a nice powder, definitely worth a try. I was nervous to use it after reading other reviews that stated the powder became cakey when used, and made skin oily. I first used the sponge that came with the compact to apply the powder -- it does cake a little bit if you aren't careful about how much you're applying. It also depends on how much other product you have on your face to begin with. I found that using a powder brush for application solved the caking issue. You just have to use the right tools and be aware of how much powder you're applying, and you'll be fine. I also found that my skin became a bit more oily than normal with this product, although it really doesn't take that long to do a quick blot. The powder stays in place pretty well. Despite the above drawbacks, this powder evened out my skin tone the best out of any other powder I've used. I have suuuper light skin, and it covers all the veins, dark spots, redness etc that pokes out from behind my skin AND also keeps my skin looking natural (as opposed to one-dimensional like a flat, blank canvas). The light shade also is light enough for my skin but doesn't make me look sickly and is a nice neutral tone. I would agree this is a light to medium coverage powder -- I use it just over moisturizer and finish with a moisturizing finishing spray for a more natural look. It layers nicely though, but again, use the right tools with this powder when you do. I am 53 and have been using powder as my foundation since 1989, mainly clinique but I like to venture out a bit sometimes to see what other products offer. Everytime I will say that I return to clinique for my tried and true, the best powder foundation that I believe is available. My skin has changed since I am older so a few of what they offer does not work as well for me as it once did, however, still hands down the best powders. Anyway,...back to this review. I do like Tarte shapetape which is an iconic product yet this powder foundation is nothing like that. No staying power at all, can barely even see any product on the skin when applied with a powder brush or even a powder puff or the blender makeup sponge. Nothing! Only thing I liked about this product is that Tarte did put .39 oz into the product which is a nice size, just that the product itself is terrible and does not show up or stay.

Did not Shape Up

While I love everything Tarte and especially Shape Tape, this product was a miss for me. I feel like it has a very high Talc content. Was very sheer and not what I found to be buildable at all. I used it in conjunction with my Foundclear foundation and Shape Tape concealer. Not their best product.

I'm Italian with medium skin that is beige/sallow (yellow), medium,sometimes tan, with some blotchy spots. it's a mess! ha, I look best with a tan but, of course, to avoid wrinkles I try not to get tan. I found this in TAN SAND. This color is my favorite because it makes me look like a real tan, not too beige and not orange!
