I loved this iron for the first 6 months. I only have use of one hand so it's size was perfect. After a few months of use, I noticed that the plates were loose and within a couple of weeks both plates had come out of the casing and were floppy. This prevented me from being able to use the iron. I tried gluing them in with super glue but it didn't hold. For the cost of the iron I don't feel it was of good quality. I do love the hair products though.
Better than most 1/2 inch irons 3

On the highest setting it gets hot enough to actually hold a curl. It pulls the hair and I think the appearance seems cheap, especially for the price. Its hard to find a half inch iron that heats up well so I'm keeping this until something better comes along. It's also more of a purple/black rather than a deep black.
Love this flat iron for my short hair! 5

Got a very short hair cut this summer and purchased a small flat iron to style it but it only had 1 temperature and it was very hot and burned my hair. This flat iron I just purchased is the perfect size and has various temperatures so I can have it at whatever level I prefer. It's easy to handle and I just love it!

I have fine hair that has some wave to it (just enough to frizz in humidity). When my hair was longer I discovered the benefits of a good ion flat iron and how to give some bend to the ends for a smooth and natural look. (I liked the curl in my hair but one side is different from the other so it always looked uneven if I didn't do something with it).
I now have a short cut but find that the 1" flat iron or 1" curling iron are just too big, but 3/4" or smaller give me the "old lady helmet" look. I have a 1/2" travel flat iron that works okay (although it is not ion type), but is just a bit small for me to hold and use comfortably on a regular basis. When I found this 1/2" ion flat iron with a normal size handle from CHI, who makes my all time favorite hair dryer (CHI Nano), I decided to pay the higher price and try it. Good move. It gives me a smooth and easy wave that looks natural and is small enough to get close to the scalp for some really good lift.
The variable temp, sturdy metal controls and good balance are also pluses - as are the slight curve to the end of the plates that help with my styling goals. I just gave away my curling irons - this is the ONE!!!
