Most Helpful Positive Review I found my forever mousse I love this mousse! It really plumps my curls and my my hair look fuller with volume (which i never thought could happen) and was skeptical at first that this product would do as it said but it blew me away!! I will definitely be repurchasing!! I like to finish off with a hair spray to really add extra hold for days. The products has some hold, but hair spray really makes the difference for me in the long run with any styler i use. I also was using the thickening shampoo and conditioner and love them as well! I am a curly girl with 3b fine ringlets (see photos) and am so impressed! Will be buying more products from Cake moving forward. Just saw a curly shampoo and conditioner so am so excited!
Most Helpful Critical Review Dry, matted, hair like straw... I read mixed reviews about this product and thought I'd give it a go, but for me it was a waste of money. As soon as I put it on my hair it felt like straw, stringy, no longer manageable, no slip or moisturising feel. It dried very quickly with a terrible crunchy cast that was unable to be scrunched out, it left my hair looking lank, almost straight and certainly not holding curl nor volume. Too heavy? No, I usually use SheaMoisture or Cantu products and I've never had such a detrimental affect on my curls. The next day was worse, my hair was matted and had a terrible rough feel with no hopes of even using a pick in my hair, it felt as if I had been in a windstorm. I have some 2c/3a curls and ringlets that can last 3-4 days without washing but no hopes with this product, my hair needed washing the next day. I gave this product a second chance assuming it was user error but even when trying to scrunch out with a finishing serum or oil (as I've done for 40 years) it still remained a terrible matted mess the following day with my hair looking stringy, separated and unworkable. It certainly wasn't soft to the touch and absolutely no volume, for me it didn't work as stated and I won't be repurchasing.

My 1st use was horrible it comes out fast and puffs up to be a huge amount I've tried it on dry damp wet hair and even in the shower and every time it turns my hair into a dry knotted mess like a bale of hay I ended up with hair breakage
Favorite mousse 5
Evelyn from Columbia, MO
Obsessed! Perfect mousse for my thin, fine 3a curls. Gives me defined spirals, lots of volume, makes hair a bit dry - but in my case it's a good thing, because my hair is too soft and looses volume fast. This is an amazing product, only thing I would change is to make the smell less potent, or have an unscented option. Regardless, this is my favorite styling product at this moment.
My holy grail! 5
Nicky from California
Just bought some of this stuff yesterday and used it on wet hair right out of the shower. What it did to my hair is honestly a miracle... it's so shiny, bouncy, curly, and has very very little frizz. I'm in love!
Smells great 5
Cake curl mousse from Elkhart, IN
I love this mousse! It reminds me of a lemon cake smell and is a thicker mousse. If you're not liking a thick creamy mousse it's not for you and it does have a strong smell! A little goes a long way but I love it!
Definition and volume 5

I have very fine, low density 3a/3b hair. I dyed my hair recently and have a little bit of damage to my already very fine hair. This product made my hair look much more dense than it actually is and restored my natural ringlet pattern that was loosening to previous damage. Seriously, buy this product if you have low density 3a/3b hair. It is perfect for the winter as well— I apply some leave in conditioner while in the shower still and scrunch it into my hair, then lightly dry my hair with a t shirt. Once it's just damp, I scrunch a couple handfuls of this product into my hair and let it air dry; the final look is flawless, no need for any other materials.
I love it!! 5

I just bought this the other day and I normally don't like mouse in my hair since it always makes it super hard frizzy and tangles my curls, but with this one it feels so soft and fluffy but maintains my curls and brought back my curls to life when they were disappearing on me. Absolutely love it, will be buying it again and recommending it in the future ❤️
Amazing mousse, would love an unscented version! 5
bingbong from undisclosed
This mousse does incredible things for my 2a (2b?) waves. My hair is long, very fine but quite dense. This mousse defines my waves like crazy and gives some hold, especially when combined with a tiny bit of gel.
The only thing I don't love is the scent. It's not strong, but it's still very much not my style. I would really appreciate an unscented version of this mousse--and a travel size option!
Good stuff 5

Gives my curls a good boost and doesn't leave my hair feeling crunchy. The scent is light so if you have other products you want to layer on with it you definitely can.
The Best Curl Defining Product 5
Mary from Ca
This is my holy grail curl product, the best thing to ever happen to my super fine curly/wavy hair. Nothing gives me the curl definition and hold like this mousse does. Since my hair is so fine, it tends to fall flat only a day after styling it, and my curls are gone. But not with this! Also guys, I recommend scrunching your hair again after it FULLY dries, and then you won't have that crunchy/stiff feeling I saw mentioned in some reviews. My curls are bouncy and voluminous after doing this!
I can create soft waves 5
Dana from Texas
I apply this product to my wet hair after my shower. I scrunch it while it's drying. I'm able to turn my fairly straight hair into a wavy dream. After its dry, I finger comb and sometimes moisturize the ends. I can re-wet it on day 2 & 3 without applying more or adding some wave spray. This is the best mousse I've ever used. I will repurchase for sure. Thanks
Gets the job done 4
Ro from Turnersville, NJ
Full disclosure, I haven't used many other types of mousse before this one, this was basically the first one I started using after it was recommended in a group I'm in on facebook. I like it, it definitely gets the job done. I do wish it helped tame my frizz a little bit more, maybe added some more moisture, but I like that it doesn't weigh my hair down, doesn't make it feel greasy, and it gives some body to my curls. And I use the tiniest amount and it goes a long way, so a can lasts forever.
Amazing mousse! 5
Lexi from New Hampshire
I LOVE this mousse! It smells great and gives me amazing clumps if I use it on soaking wet hair. I use it alone or with innersense I create volume underneath instead of leave in. It is a heavier mousse though so use it sparingly.

I haven't really played around with mousses much but this is definitely one of my new favorite products. It smells amazing and gives me more definition and volume then gels I've tried. My hair is 2B, fine but dense and gets weighed down easily. A little goes a long way with this. I use about a palm full size for my whole head otherwise it can look greasy.
4th mousse is the charm 5
Heavenly mousse from Scottsdale AZ
This mousse quickly became the product that I buy multiples of. I have 2b-3a wavy curls with medium to high porosity, high density medium thickness and I'm sensitive to glycerin. I have the best and longest styles with this mousse using the MGM technique (I use KCK or blueberry curls gels) and microplopping. I can last 4-5 days between washes without accumulating build up. Normally my hair doesn't look so hot with polyquats but PQ-11 seems to love my hair. My wavy curls are shiny and juicy especially if I go easy on the gel step. I'm not in love with the scent but the results were worth it. I use it on dry hair for refreshing and it crushes frizz.

I love this moose used with the curl cream. Leaves my hair frizz free and last all day. Works much much better than the more expensive brands! I will definitely be buying this moose again. Cant wait to try more of these products! Love the fact that it is Vegan and Cruelty free! Major plus!

Not for fine hair, made my hair feel so greasy and sticky. The foam is very thick. It could work for coarse hair, but stay away if you have fine hair!
My favorite and smells great!!! 5

Love the Curl Whip 5
Tazzy from Tifton, GA
The mousse is thick and foamy when it comes out of the can and easily spread through the hair. I use a diffuser so it intensifies the curl.
A little goes a long way 5

I'm not sure how much product everyone else is putting to make their hair feel crunchy. I have 3b hair on the finer side. I only use one or two small pumps and place all over my hair. My hair never gets crunchy or matted when using this product. It make my hair shiny, soft and defined. It's also very light weight which is what I need for my fine hair. I usually put some cream beforehand to add moisture to my hair and then use this product for definition. I never feel a cast when it dries, yet it's enough to keep my hair looking defined on day 2. not only that but because it's lightweight it doesn't take away any volume which is also important when you have hair on the finer side.if you struggle between having defined hair without losing any volume this product is for you. Couple with a bit of hair cream and works wonders
I will definitely buy this product again! 5

Love this mousse! Love the thickness of it and spreads evenly throughout my curls from root to ends. Tames frizz and makes my curls bouncey and full, not greasy/oily or flat. The scent is amazing!!!
Holy Grail 5
Mlinedesign from Cleveland
I love this mouse. I have 3A, low porosity, high density curls. I've been searching high and low for a product that would replace the Graham Webb Moussing Wax and this is the perfect product. I follow CGM (curly girl method) and I use leave in conditioner, the Cake mousse, homemade flax seed gel and then I wet plop. After removing my plop I scrunch in a strong hold gel over top and then diffuse with my black orchid. For those reviews that say it's leaves your hair crunchy - it's best to form a cast until fully dried for optimal hold and then scrunch out the crunch (SOTC) for amazingly shiny curls!
Will purchase again 5

Was great on my waves b

This product was thick. Felt like putting actual whipped cream in my hair. Made it sticky and was extremely difficult to get into my hair. After drying, hair was heavy and sticky.
Magic Mousse! 5
Fine Curly from WV
I have very fine, med-high porosity 2c/3a hair, and this is THE hold product for me. No other mousses have enough hold, and gels tend to weigh down my curls (except when using as second product in the "smasters" method or for damp refresh). After applying a small amount of leave-in/curl cream, I glaze and scrunch a tennis ball size amount of this mousse all over my still wet (but not dripping) hair, continuing to scrunch/pulse until the mousse is fully incorporated. If you do this while your hair is just wet enough to hear the squishy sound, you will have no sticky hands or hair, only springy plump curls that will quickly take on a light cast great for air drying or diffusing. I do not recommend this as a refresh product or for damp styling. The NYM mousse is better for those purposes.
Matted my hair 1
Sharon from Virginia
This was very thick & hard to distribute. Made my hair dry & matted the next morning. Couldn't restyle.
