How To Use

Apply using Ouidad's Rake & Shake technique. Divide damp hair into sections. Rake a nickel-size amount of cream through each section, using fingertips to seal and smooth the cuticle from roots to ends. When finished, hold the ends of hair in each section and shake to create curls. Let hair air-dry for more relaxed curls or blow-dry with a diffuser for more bounce.

Great Curl Product!I love this product! I have naturally curly hair that is rather fine in density, but I have a lot of it (caucasian 3A, 2C hair for reference). I like cream products that are thick enough to add texture and hold, but I find that they're often too liquidy like a lotion, too heavy, or too waxy. I used to use DevaCurl and loved it, but moved away from it due to some stories going on in the news. I've been looking for my next great product for a while now and haven't quite found it. I like clean beauty brands, and I've tried Verb, Amika, JVN, Dae, and a few others that I also really like. Those are all really great brands, but I decided to give this Ouidad Curl Shaper a try. I was initially surprised because I wasn't expecting the texture. My best comparison is almost like a brownie batter texture. It's thick to the touch, but it's also whipped and airy. I was immediately intrigued because I had no idea how it was going to turn out the first time using it. I apply a heat protectant first (Redken, Extreme Play Safe 450) to my microfiber towel-dried hair, and then I add the Ouidad and scrunch my hair. I let this air dry for a bit, and then finish blow drying with a diffuser. My results are absolutely beautiful. I've been using this for about a month, and I have consistent great results daily. Sometimes I add some extra curls with a wand if I want my hair to be a little more uniform (for work), but it honestly looks nice enough that I really wouldn't need to. I will definitely be purchasing this again. It smells nice too. It smells like something you'd find at a salon but it's not overpowering. Great price point, great results, love it!Nice results, difficult to useI have dense, coarse, low porosity 2c-3a hair. Pros: This cream left my hair looking smooth and feeling good, and the scent was pleasant (woody and sweet). It air-dried nicely and there wasn't any build-up or dullness. Cons: There's hardly any slip to it, so it took a lot of time and effort to style my hair, and I ended up getting tangles and extra shedding during application. And I used up the whole tub in about five weeks! I didn't like the packaging, either, as it felt unhygienic to dip my hands into the tub repeatedly. I'm going back to the Ouai curl creme, because it is just so much easier to work with.

I have 2A/2B pattern waves, with finer strands and a very thick density. Its rare to find products that are meant for my hair type, it left my waves super shiny and defined. I reccommend layering a bit of leave in conditoner underneath though.

I have been searching for a product like this for years - helped my frizz, gave my waves definition without weighing them down, and all without the crunch of a gel. Please, I beg you, never discontinue.

I'm not someone to rave about a product often. But the curl shaper is perfect for my hair texture. I've tried so many and nothing else keeps them soft touchable curls AND easy to reshape in the morning. Must buy for your specific hair type though.

Disappointed

I'm fairly new to this brand and have been trying to try as much as their products as possible. So had to give this product a try. It left my hair really frizzy. It was disappointing. Try the ADVANCED CLIMATE CONTROL instead.
