So worth switching all at onceLOVE SO MUCH! I have tight curls that boarder coils (like the princess in Brave) so i usually have to use a TON of product but I got amazing results without needing to use 1/2 a bottle of product! This was the routine: 1. Detangle in the shower, apply shampoo to roots/ scalp and massage in, making sure to scrub (No lather but when rinsing it felt very clean, like squeaky clean! My scalp is very happy) 2. Coily Conditioner- I opted for a more intense conditioner since my stylist said i was so under moisturizing and I am sick of needing to use a 1/4 of a bottle on my hair every wash day. It is THICK like margarine and SOO nourishing! My hair only feels that smooth when I do a mask normally and never lasts but it still felt silky even after I rinsed it well with warm water. I also left it on for 5 min and brushed it through with the pattern shower brush 3. Leave in Conditioner - Upside down and de tangled I squeezed some of the water out of my clumps so the product would just be rinsed away and then Smoothed in about 1/2 an eggs worth of leave in and combed through with my fingers, added a little bit more water to train the curls and scrunched in another marble of conditioner. 4. Gel - gel felt almost like a sticky conditioner and I didn't feel like I needed a ton, probably applied 1/2 of what i used in the leave in. 5. Pattern towel - loved that the towel was extra large 6. Air dry 7. Jojoba oil- When my hair was almost 100% dry (just damp enough to be cool to the touch but not feel wet and just a little crunchy) I scrunched out the crunch with a few drops of the oil and my hair went from looking pretty normal to SO SHINY. I've used oils before but goodness! The floral fragrance took a little getting used to but otherwise more than I could have hoped for!Not the product for my 3c thick curlsI purchased the Pattern travel pack (shampoo, conditioner for coilies, leave in) with the gel. I used all four products on my very thick, medium length, medium-coarse, 3c, color-treated hair as directed. The gel consistency is more like a leave-in conditioner, which made me excited about not having "crunchy" hair later. As my hair began to dry, it had no curl definition at all! I mean...at ALL! 100% frizz. I was very disappointed. I had to add a mousse from another line in order to get my curls to come through. I am going to try it one more time, but if you're looking for a strong hold without the stiffness on 3c or tighter hair, this product might not be the one. It may work better as a mid-week refresh product rather than on freshly-washed hair.

Great Curl Gel

I have wavy curly hair and have tried 6 different curl gels/creams, since Sexy Curly Cream was discontinued over a year ago. Pattern is the best curl gel I have found. It's actually creamy and you don't need much when applying. When my hair dries, the curls are soft. The scent is interesting, but not unpleasant. Finally, I found a product I like and it works.

Leaves my hair greasy

A rep recommended this as the Curlsmith weightless styling gel is being discontinued at my store. It doesn't hold my curls (I have more wavy/looser curls), made my hair greasy, and I don't like the way it smells. It's not for my hair type

My hair has a wavy curl and this product is perfect for it! It's more of a cream than a gel but gives a natural look and hold.

Good product but I wouldn't call it solely gel

This is a good product but it's definitely more creamy than gellish. I think just calling it simply gel is a bit misleading, but I digress. If you're looking for a strong hold jelly that will create a cast and freeze curls into place, this one isn't really it. If you have some porosity to your hair though and want something with some moisture and shine, this is nice. I put it on soaking wet hair and scrunch before I get out of the shower. It does have enough hold to enhance my 2b-c waves without being too crunchy. I just have to be careful to not use too much or it can get a bit heavy and greasy looking, especially on my softer layer of hair underneath (the top layer of my hair is more dry and can handle a creamier product but the under layer will look stringy/greasy with heavier creams). As long as you don't use too much, this can be great for wavy or curly hair that has some porosity to absorb product well and can handle some moisture. My hair is soft and shiny with nice curl enhancement after using. It's just not a straight up gel with super strong hold, which is what products usually are that are labeled as "gel". This is definitely a cream gel.

Everybody says it smells great. I personally hate the smell but it does fade quickly. The good is that it is super moisturizing and it keeps frizz away. I would not use this if I had fine hair. It is very easy to put too much. My hair looks super healthy but the volume is also compromised cause it does weigh hair down. The bad is that it has zero hold. Next time I will combine it with a better smelling mousse and see what happens.
