The right file for those that hate filing I hate filing my nails. You know the nails on a chalkboard sound/feeling - the shiver of revulsion that runs through you? It feels like that to me. I read about glass/crystal files online and how they were much faster, so I gave this a try. It's more expensive than emery boards, but it's supposed to last longer than they do. I bought mine a week ago, so I can't speak to that yet. The feeling of using it is much better than emery boards, and it did work much quicker as well. I think this is the first time I made it all the way through shaping each nail! I recommend it if you have that shiver down your spine when you use normal emery boards or just want to get the nails filed faster. It is smaller than normal emery boards, as one reviewer commented, but it's still a good size for the job.
I wouldn't buy an ulta brand crystal nail file I was disappointed with this because it started wearing out the first time I used it. My nails are thick so maybe it's not great for people with strong nails.

My fingernails have a tendency to shred and peel. This file is very fine and smooths perfectly without damaging my nails. The case also makes it super handy to carry in my purse.

Absolutely no grit. I love crystal files and needed a small one for travel but this doesn't have enough grit to smooth my mail edges.
