Most Helpful Positive Review Love the foundation. Wish there were more color choices Overall I love this foundation. It glides on, looks flawless for a long time and I don't feel it.on my face. The fact that I can wear it all day and not break out makes it awesome. The color range offering is a bit weak. I bought several little bottles and only one was a color close enough to keep. I have fair skin and always choose the cool beige, rose beige in the fair to light shades of foundation. Naturally the first batch I ordered were the ones labeled P for pink. The color is less pink and more peach orange. After a few minutes that orange starts to show and at that point no amount of blending will help. The second order I chose the Neutral in 1.2 and 2. 2n was it. It is still the tiniest yellow green but that pigment disappears once it dries and sets. No idea why make-up companies have such difficulty making colors that are genuine matches to human skin. The P needs more blue/green pigment to neutralize that peach orange and the N could use the tiniest but more purple. I would like to see this company offer a few shades in the midrange and in more of a "cool" selection. See bobbi brown 3.25 or Juice Beauty rosy beige for perfect reference.
The foundation is so good that I am willing to work with 2n for now and while I have to prep with a good sunscreen (this has none), it love how good it looks after several hours of wear. And about that,
removing it must require a cleanser I don't have. I have tried a couple and even after dialing it up and rinsing really well it still appears on my toner cotton ball. Luckily the residue left behind doesn't transfer on my pillow or break my face out.
Like all foundations I have tried this one has its pros and cons. I like the company and several other products they make so I will work with the limitations of the foundation for now.
Would love to see this company produce a physical sunscreen for the face that protects from sun damage, works with the other products AND doesn't irritate or cause break outs.
Most Helpful Critical Review Really wanted to love it, just can't due to the following Surprisingly, out of 3 Ulta's I visited, only 1 Ulta in my area carries The Ordinary foundations. I use all their skin care, so when I saw they had this too, I HAD to buy it. The price point is great. The downsides for me were that, there aren't many shades available if you're in between tones. I tried out 3 different ones with the same base (1.2) which all looked perfect at Ulta- so it was REALLY hard to choose while I was shopping, but in natural light I had realized it looked nothing like it did in store, too fair and appears cakey (but not heavy). I took what I bought back and swapped it out for a 2.0 YG which looked (again) like an exact match, even better than the 1.2's for me. I thought this would be it and I found the correct shade. I was stuck on the 2.0 N and 2.0 YG- just to reiterate how difficult it is to distinguish the undertones. Now, as I am getting ready to go out and finally use it, my family and I couldn't unsee how gray and way too light it looks on my face, yet again. I have to now, take it off, and figure out what other brand to buy because I am tired of swapping these out. It makes me look like I have a 5 o'clock shadow and under eye circles when I don't. I think what they are aiming for is to neutralize your undertones, so since I have yellow undertones, it could be possible that the foundation is cooler, therefore balancing out my tone? I don't know exactly but it isn't working- it makes me look very dull and tired.
I am also not a fan of the really watery consistency, when the testers at Ulta were thicker. I have shaken it for over 3 minutes, and it's not getting thicker, I think that's just how they come. It says "Light coverage" but a little really makes it look pretty much medium to coverage. I think the only other good thing I can say aside from the price is that it atleast FEELS like there is nothing on your face, and I do like the bottle itself.

I love the coverage and how it looks on my skin. I use a beauty blender to apply and the price is outstanding. However, like everyone else I am sad about the shade range. I'd like a better match but it's close enough and I use contour an blush. It's my go to.
love/hate relationship.. 2

This foundation frustrates me. I wanted to love it so badly! The color is PERFECT for my pastey white skin. It makes me feel GREAT to finally find a color match. HOWEVER. Whyyyyy does a great skincare company (who I buy like everything they offer and I love them so so much) make a makeup that has killed my skin?? :( I took from January to June last year to finally get my skin to a point where I could feel confident with no makeup. It was smooth, it was glowing, I felt so good about myself- thanks to The Ordinary's other products. But this foundation (I tried both the serum kind and the coverage) made me break out SO bad, I feel like I'm back to being a teenager again. At first, I was in denial that it could be this makeup... I cut out other parts of my skincare routine. It's this foundation. Sadly. There's something in it that flares my skin up in a way I would describe as angry... Also the foundation HAS to have a primer and something to really seal it to your face. And sadly it clings to every hair and imperfection.... I wanna love it due to finally finding THEEEEE perfect color match- but I can't because it's ruined my skin and we're now 7 months later and I'm still trying to get my skin back to where it was a year ago. :( sad
Good enough for the price 4
Al from California
I have no major complaints with this product. This definitely performs more like a tinted moisturizer than a foundation. So if you're looking for full coverage this is probably not the one for you. It's also the best color match I have ever had in a foundation. And for the price, it was plenty good enough.
Hard to find the right color 4
Tee from New Orleans LA
I like the coverage and consistency of this foundation (used with primer), but I find it extremely difficult to get the proper shade without being able to try it on in the store. I'll just say the way the color swatches look online are not the way they look on my skin.
Good! 5

It has worked well with me so far, and I like how it doesn't break me out. This is such a good price for foundation, and I like how the names of the shades are straight forward. Definitely makes it easier to shop online!
Doesn't last long 2
Starmall from New York, NY
I always prep my skin really well before applying makeup and even that doesn't keep this foundation on my face. It sits well for about 30 minutes and then it starts to dry up and break apart and look patchy. I have normal skin and this sadly didn't work for me
Good, for the price. 3

This foundation comes in a small bottle, as expected- but it's SUPER small. It was also very hard to blend, however I have dry skin so maybe that's a factor. Not my favorite, but for a cheap foundation it's alright.
Awesome underrated product 5

Once I tested this product, I stopped buying the higher end ones. Such a good product for the price. Definitely underrated
Good foundation 4

I like this foundation. It has good coverage, but it is thinner and light weight.
Probably won't buy again 3

I love everything I've ever tried by The Ordinary except for this. Without primer on, it just slid off my face, even on the dry parts of my face. It's better with primer but still not great. There is more of a yellow tint to it than I'd like, and it seems to accentuate my dry spots since I have to layer to get to full coverage.
Holy Grail Foundation 5
LLmakeupmomma from Kentuckiana
Best Foundation I have ever used. I used to be a make up artist with Este Lauder. I love double wear. It's one of my all time faves! Sometimes it's just too heavy and it's more money than I want to spend. I love the ordinary skincare line. I was so excited to find the ordinary foundation!!! I use light ( pink undertones). It's so light weight but still gives you full coverage. My skin looks flawless and stays looking great all day. For me this is a must and I am over 40.
So Yellow 3
PW from Minneapolis MN
For a shade that is supposed to be for pink undertones, this foundation is incredibly yellow on the skin. I liked the texture and coverage of the product, but I didn't give it an actual wear test due to how strange it looked on me.
so lightweight and saved my skin 5
holy grail from LA
I have been looking for a full coverage foundation and this one is PERFECT so lightweight on my face but still has amazing coverage and I never break out from it. THE BEST
A no for me 2
Jordan from Texas
I use almost exclusively the ordinary for my skincare routine and was excited to see they had makeup products! Although excitement didn't last long. It's not buildable in coverage, and is definitely not full coverage.Mor like a sheer/light. I can still see red pigmentation from acne clearly. Transfers easily even when you use powder, and setting/finishing spray. It also doesn't seem to play well with face powders. More than half the time it would disappear under highlight or blush. Looked cakey with three different finishing powders. At least for the price point it wasn't a massive disappointment.
Not for oily or textured skin 1
Megg from Memphis tn
I wanted to like this. but after many tries, with multiple different primers, I can without a doubt say that this foundation is terrible for oily skin, or skin with ANY texture. I didn't even know I had dry spots until I put this foundation on my face, so I guess that's a plus? At least now I know what areas to work on. 😂 I love the ordinary, but I think they should stick to facial care and not cosmetics.
FINALLY found my holy grail foundation! 5
SparkleGrl from Upland, CA
Being in entertainment, I have to be somewhat polished and camera ready much of the time for my marketing stuff. But my acne-prone, blotchy red, oily and dry, 35+ skin makes me feel like I need to always have makeup on to even things out. Every foundation I've used either breaks me out, looks orangey, or highlights the bumps and textures to make me look like a flaky reptile on my chin or forehead. Even with different types of primers and careful attention to skincare, nothing was ideal. I've found some that are decent, but still leave some areas not totally covered or bumpy. Then I found this one on the Ulta site. I figured, for the price, worth a try. And I like The Ordinary's serums.
OH. MY. GOSH. The color match was perfect (1.2N), and with the first swipe of my brush, I could see that my skin looked perfectly smooth. I was shocked. Whether I apply it with a brush or a blending sponge, everywhere I put it, there wasn't that bumpy, textured appearance I'm so used to always seeing with makeup on me. I was amazed! It covers the red areas well, is buildable, and stays put all day. How can foundation this good be under $10 bucks?!? I have some for close to $50 that are nowhere near as blendable and long wearing. I'm stocking up! Please don't ever stop making this, The Ordinary! I only wish it were more widely available.
Buildable coverage and no clog pores 5

This foundation is really good, has worked for me very well for the last four months. I do have a bad habit of sleeping with my make up on and even though I do take off the next day I can remove it no problem, I don't get any pimples or anything like that so I'm very happy with this foundation great price!! Definitely if you wanna get it with more coverage just put a second layer on I think it's very good for a day out or an night out if you want more coverage. My boyfriend really likes it! he doesn't really know when I'm wearing wearing it lol
My everyday foundation 5

Came off in pieces 2

Didn't work for me. I did my normal routine of applying, and I noticed little bits of the foundation were caking around my chin. Needless to say, I won't use this anymore.
Didn't experience what others are saying, I love it! 5

I am a singer and do shows outdoors. I saw this today and snatched it along with the concealer. I had an outdoor show. I was outside from 3-10pm and I love the way it looks. It feels like it feels more like a tinted moisturizer but thinner. I personal will use this for quick easy makeup. I did a full face today along w/ cream tarts bronzer and buffed it on with a kabuki brush and it did lovely. I feel like it has to set some. I forgot I had anything on though. 10/10✨
No added coverage 2

I've used the regular Ordinary foundation for years and thought it was cool Ulta sells it in store. The shades fit me and the price point is great. I'm light tan and struggle with hyperpigmentation from acne. When I saw ulta offered the coverage foundation online I bought 4 bottles. I can't tell a difference in coverage between the 2. Some of my darker/newer spots peek through still.
Ok ok WOW 5

Amazing!!! I never thought this foundation would be this good! I mostly use Fenty Soft Matte Longwear foundation and compared to a $35 foundation I really love this stuff. The coverage is great! The shade is great. It is not transfer resistant so that's my only con. You do need to shake it well before applying. But it's not cakey at all. The perfect coverage for hiding your blemishes/acne while still looking natural. I've been using this along with their serums, cleanser and moisturizer for about 2 weeks and I can already tell a huge difference. Thank God I found these products!
Love it! 5
