Most Helpful Positive Review A few tips to make this work
The first time I used this, it was a disaster. Sooooo shiny, with a grayish undercast… I thought I'd made a mistake. But I really wanted it to work - I had been using the Serum, and that wan't working for me. My complexion always looked dull, and it was too time consuming to blend it without streaking. I also didn't want to go back to the powder foundation. My skin is on the oily side, and with the powder, my skin always ended up even oilier by mid-day.
So I persisted with the Complexion Rescue, and now I absolutely love it. My skin has a nice, illuminated appearance, without looking too oily. The level of hydration is perfect for my skin.
I can tell from some of the negative reviews that they are making some of the same mistakes that I initially did, so here are a few tips I found that make it work beautifully.
1. Don't use too much. I can't emphasize this enough. A pea sized amount is all you should use. Think of a pea, and then make that size happen on the brush (Tip 1-a; use the brush). I dot that all over my face and blend until the brush feels pretty dry against my face.
2. After blending, let it soak in for a few minutes. If you try to put Mineral Veil, or Warmth on right away, it gets cakey and messy. Walk away and do something else for a few minutes.
3. Coverage is light to medium. If you have dark circles or red spots, dab on a concealer over trouble areas.
4. I use Warmth and a spot of blush but depending on skin tone, you may not need these. Coverage is pretty sheer, so if you are lucky enough to have some nice, natural color, this product won't hide it.
5. Don't skip the Mineral Veil unless you like super-shiny skin. The mineral-based sunscreen gives a white-ish shine which the mineral veil takes away. But - this is my favorite part - your skin still appears nicely dewey and lit from within after the dusting of mineral veil.
Most Helpful Critical Review Beware: Size is now MUCH smaller
The tube size has been changed significantly, but the price has not. This now costs about $14/ounce MORE than it did previously. This makes the product much too expensive for what it is. I hate how they kept the outside box the same and didn't change the external packaging at all. Seems very sneaky. I've loved the product for several years, but now the hugely increased cost per ounce means I might as well buy a better quality foundation for the price. Sigh. Hate when good things change.

Initially got this as a sample and ended up buying the full size after how well it blended with my makeup. I usually wear a few drops of a vitamin c serum and a light mist then apply this, it spreads easily with nice color I apply a thin layer of foundation from bare minerals and it does a great job no problems with my face getting oily or any flaking I have combination skin that is fairly sensitive to strong products. Overall I really enjoy this product ^_^
my go to for every day

I use this product almost every day for a quick, polished, glowing look. When I had to switch colors based on the summer tan, the quiz was also surprisingly accurate for my skin tone.
AMAZING! But apply correctly
Leigh from Austin, tx
This is the best tinted moisturizer I've ever used. HOWEVER, do NOT apply moisturizer beforehand or it won't apply correctly and will flake off and not blend into your skin. This looks amazing but you have to apply to clean skin! I like to use hydrating serums and then apply.

I'm on my 4th purchase of this product - best tinted moisturizer I've ever used.
Love how it feels like a moisturizer, not makeup.

Love that this product feels more like a moisturizer than liquid foundation. I've tried other tinted moisturizers that feel more like makeup.

I am not a fan of traditional liquid foundation, as I've never found one that didn't feel like cake frosting as it sat on my face, or that didn't melt off within a few hours. I've used loose powders for years as I like a natural looking minimal-to-medium coverage, but decided to try something new as skincare has dramatically improved my complexion to where I felt I could use liquid makeup. I tried probably 6 or 7 different tinted moisturizers & none compare. This is absolutely the best thing I have found since I discovered a brow pencil. Ulta's shade match tool got it perfectly, the formula is wonderful, it wears nicely even when I get a little oily. I need to buy this in bulk so that I can use it forever!

I've been searching for a replacement for my discontinued foundation/moisturizer with SPF and have tried so many high end and drug store brands, none of them were similar enough until I found this one. It's perfect for my mature skin. I use a blurring primer first and set a couple of minutes before applying the Bareminerals Complexion Rescue. I apply one light layer with my fingertips and let it set for several minutes before dusting translucent setting powder on top. I think it's important to let it set before applying powder. It felt comfortable on my skin and gave my skin the right amount of coverage without settling in to lines on my face. It's buildable, but I prefer a light coverage.
A must have!

I use this daily, as an alternative to regular foundation. I love how moisturized my face looks and feels, while also providing natural looking coverage. It's a great product! My fave

I've stopped wearing foundation altogether. Seamless application, lightweight & buildable. Does not settle into lines. Love it.

I've SUPER dry and sensitive skin that leads a bit more on oily side during summer months and drier in colder months. Anyways, I've been eying this product for a while, and I was waiting for a sale or 20% coupon on prestige brands. Yup, I bought and I'm glad I did bc I finally got to try it. It's feels lightweight and hydrating, but gives you a natural-glow from within look and it definitely has a buildable coverage. Using a beauty sponge will give you a natural finish and using a brush will give you full coverage. So whatever floats your boat! You can either add more or add concealer and powder to set. But don't add too much powder as it will feel heavy. I used this in colder months and it stayed on flawlessly, however, in the hotter months, not sure if it's the excess heat, it melted a some off on problem areas like acne, scars, hyperpigmentation
then created a film and showed texture. I know with texture, you cannot hide or takes time to remove it. I haven't picked it up for a while, I still enjoy the lightweight and hydrating component, but I will only use it for colder months.

this is the perfect light-medium coverage foundation. I've been looking for something like this for so long. It goes on sooo smooth and feels so light. Def recommend!!
It's perfect for me
Hannah from DC
I use this product daily as SPF and as subtle coverage on my skin. It smooths everything out and really boosts my confidence. I would not recommend it if you already have oily skin, but for dryer skin like mine it gives a noce dewey effect. I will keep this around for a long time!
Decent product overall.

I do like the light coverage & sunscreen factor. And, it keeps my face smooth & moisturized.

Well, I guess I am in the minority here. This is definitely going back. I have been trying it out for a few days and just don't like it. It doesn't dry down, nothing absorbs...and this is coming from someone with legit desert dry skin. And it has a weird powdery, makeup-y feeling to the skin on top of that. So it feels like I've dusted a bunch of setting powder/loose powder on my face, so that when I touch it feels...textured and fluffy...It's weird. And then if my husband touches my face, I feel like "oh god! It's rubbing off!" It just never sets into the skin. Makes me feel gross all day.
In my late 40s, I'm excited!!

This is such a lovely product. I was hopeful from what I read as, having aging skin, I can dry your pretty easily. However, gels and cc creams are, in my experience, better for younger, less lined skin. I was wondering if this gel would settle in my wrinkles or be too shiny. It does not! My skin is more moisturized than with my tried and true powder foundation (which I still use for a matte look). This product stayed put and lasted for a long time.
It offers great sun protection.
The main things that I would say to optimize the best look here are:
-make sure to give it enough time to set onto your skin; it can look shiny at first but will settle out and then you can go about putting on other products-or not! :)
-make sure that you're cleansing properly (as it IS so hydrating and stays put, both good problems to have)
-exfoliate to assure it looks even if you're older and tend toward dry skin like mine
Not ideal for oily skin
Kay from Ohio
I purchased this yesterday and decided to wear it for work today. I applied a thin layer of loose setting powder on top to help set it on the skin. A few hours later and my skin looks super oily and when I use my hand to blot it, the product comes off onto my hand. It looks very pretty, just not ideal for my skin type which is large pores and oily.
I cant live without it!

When i first applied it, i was so excited because it made my skin look dewy and flawless! my family came over and my dad asked me what i put on my face? He said it looked like i dipped it in oil. I went to look in the mirror and couldn't beleive the oil slick in my nose and forehead. Thank goodness i didn't go out looking like that. My search for the perfect tinted face cream continues.
Such a Great tinted moisturizer

Gives me a very natural light coverage while also providing protection from the sun:) most moisturizers/moisturizing products break me out but this has never and i've been using it for the past 3 years. Warning though it does oxidize !!
