Most Helpful Positive Review A few tips to make this work The first time I used this, it was a disaster. Sooooo shiny, with a grayish undercast… I thought I'd made a mistake. But I really wanted it to work - I had been using the Serum, and that wan't working for me. My complexion always looked dull, and it was too time consuming to blend it without streaking. I also didn't want to go back to the powder foundation. My skin is on the oily side, and with the powder, my skin always ended up even oilier by mid-day.
So I persisted with the Complexion Rescue, and now I absolutely love it. My skin has a nice, illuminated appearance, without looking too oily. The level of hydration is perfect for my skin.
I can tell from some of the negative reviews that they are making some of the same mistakes that I initially did, so here are a few tips I found that make it work beautifully.
1. Don't use too much. I can't emphasize this enough. A pea sized amount is all you should use. Think of a pea, and then make that size happen on the brush (Tip 1-a; use the brush). I dot that all over my face and blend until the brush feels pretty dry against my face.
2. After blending, let it soak in for a few minutes. If you try to put Mineral Veil, or Warmth on right away, it gets cakey and messy. Walk away and do something else for a few minutes.
3. Coverage is light to medium. If you have dark circles or red spots, dab on a concealer over trouble areas.
4. I use Warmth and a spot of blush but depending on skin tone, you may not need these. Coverage is pretty sheer, so if you are lucky enough to have some nice, natural color, this product won't hide it.
5. Don't skip the Mineral Veil unless you like super-shiny skin. The mineral-based sunscreen gives a white-ish shine which the mineral veil takes away. But - this is my favorite part - your skin still appears nicely dewey and lit from within after the dusting of mineral veil.
Most Helpful Critical Review Beware: Size is now MUCH smaller The tube size has been changed significantly, but the price has not. This now costs about $14/ounce MORE than it did previously. This makes the product much too expensive for what it is. I hate how they kept the outside box the same and didn't change the external packaging at all. Seems very sneaky. I've loved the product for several years, but now the hugely increased cost per ounce means I might as well buy a better quality foundation for the price. Sigh. Hate when good things change.

I have very dry skin with red patches and was hoping this would act as a moisturizer. It did not moisturize like I had hoped. It did cover up most of my redness though.
Flawless natural look 5
Morgan from Fayetteville, NC
I've tried so many foundations and tinted moisturizers over 8 years and this is now gonna be my number 1. I took the foundation match quiz (I have combo skin but more on the dry side) the other week and decided to buy this product. This product is buildable and gives me a natural look. I wore it all day the other day and it felt like I had nothing on and it doesn't cake!!!
Amazing product 5

I've been using bareminerals for 5 years and I have them all. Before I'd used over the counter makeup but even before I ever wore makeup I would suffer with styes. When I changed to bareminerals it was PERFECT for my eyes. This hydrating gel cream feels so fresh when you're applying it.

I LOVE this stuff. I have combination skin and struggle with foundation getting patchy or drying out my skin. This stuff knocks all the other foundation cult faves out of the park! It's so lightweight and hydrating but looks like full coverage. I use this when I do a full glam makeup look or a quick"natural" vibe. It works really well under other products and doesn't get patchy. It washes off nicely at the end of the day too! 100000% recommend.
Nice product! 5

I really like this tinted moisturizer. It has many colors to match skin unlike others that are only light or dark. It gives a nice glow and not heavy , plus spf30 makes it a perfect light weight moisturizer if you don't always want to wear foundation. Get many compliments on my skin and I'm in my 60's!
Great Product 5

I have been using this product since it came out. I use it as a foundation and it looks smooth and natural.
Nice product, not perfect 4
Beth from Delaware
It has taken about five tries to find the perfect shade of Complexion Rescue, as it looks different in various lighting. I do appreciate the SPF30 and it feels hydrating - but it finishes shiny. In between purchases I tried Maybelline Dream Hydrant Liquid that has a touch more coverage, no odd undertones, better finish and more staying power on its own (without powder). I don't plan to purchase again, but it is a nice product for the park or the beach.
I love this product! 5

I tried this cream because I was sick of those heavy foundations that make you look so fake. This cream offers coverage that makes you look so natural. And the slightest amount of tint that makes you glow. I'll never go back to those thick foundations.
Great On My Dry Skin 5
Danie from United States
I wash my face, moisturize, then put the product on and it works great. I've experienced other products sticking to my dry patches (which only makes them more noticeable) but this one goes on smooth.
Bare Minerals - Top Quality products 5

I love the Bare mineral line and have used it for years.
The staff at Ulta are knowledgeable and friendly. Keep up the good work. I love the convenience of a store near me instead of ordering online.

I will consider purchasing this again 5

Since turning 60 a couple months ago my skin has changed drastically. I always have had great skin and hair for that matter but the last 3-4 months I have seen such a change. Cleansers, moisturizers, makeup have all caused me to have dry skin and be so sensitive to any kind of fragrance. So I went to ULTA hoping to find a product for sensitive skin, cover blemishes and fine lines. So far I am happy with this product.
Decent product but not worth the price. 3

I was looking for something to even my skintone while providing moisture and SPF. This formula is... fine. It does what it claims and that's it. Might be better for a normal to dry skin type. I have combination to oily skin and it left me feeling greasy - had to set with powder and touch up often. The shade Vanilla pulled very warm/orange on me. This isn't bad, but there are certainly cheaper things that work better.

I use this as my everyday go to! Great buildable coverage while protecting your skin. Lightweights yet effective. For reference I'm color 11. BM did a great job updating there complexions options a few years ago.
Best Tint Around 5
marsie from United States
I don't like wearing foundation and I prefer a very natural but gloomy finish. I've tried multiple tints (Nars, Fenty, It Cosmetics) and this is the best one. I have very acne prone skin but this does not bother it. I thought it stopped working once winter came around but I just needed to hydrate my skin better before applying (always wait a few minutes for your skincare to settle into your skin before putting on any makeup!). So it isn't very hydrating on its own (in the winter) but I think that's a good thing because it's light enough for the summer and you can always add more hydration underneath. Absolutely love this product and pair it with the Dewy NYX setting spray. For special occasions I will use the bareminerals original concealer on top which is also great! I recently tried the Fenty tint which broke me out pretty bad, but this product covered the breakout up very well! I've learned my lesson to stick with it :^) Also I apply with a beauty blender.
lightest shade too dark 2
caroline from utah
maybe i could love this if they had my shade, but the lightest shade (opal) looks almost like self-tanner on me. 😔💔
don't buy if you're extremely fair (for reference, 102 in maybelline fit me foundation is my shade)
Sometimes I wear it alone with no makeup. 5

Blends well with my skin tone.
Did they change the formula or did I get an expired one? 1
Laina from Massachusetts
Used to love this stuff, but the recent one I purchased has the consistency of cottage cheese, which makes me gag, and does not blend at all. Wish I went for the IT cosmetics CC cream instead. Save your money till they change the formula.

Doesn't blend well 3
Lu from SW
LOVE the original mineral powder, so thought I'd give this a try. Umm, no. Tried on bare skin, then over primer, and also over either a light moisturizer or serum. Each time, the moisturizer sinks in and the pigment floats weirdly on top. And the more I try to blend, the more it finds every pore, crease or dry patch. Dang, was hoping for no-fuss, even coverage, but it just isn't working. Sigh…
Great light-medium daily coverage 5
OhioStephanie from Ohio
I recently purchased this at the recommendation of an Ulta Beauty employee who helped me find the right shade. I am really happy with it and I find it to be a great daily product that gives some coverage without being heavy.
Good coverage and color match, adjustable finish. 5
Rima from California
Nice coverage and color match. Just one layer leaves some skin imperfections showing through, but that's good if you're going for the, "No, I'm not wearing makeup", natural look. You can go back and spot treat small marks like this is a concealer for a more flawless look. Has a fairly shiny/dewy finish, but you can blot it to make it more matte. I was pleasantly surprised at the perfect color match for my skin, but I recommend trying samples in the store, because the color doesn't come out exactly like the picture on the box. Happy to find an all mineral sunscreen that works well on a deeper skin tone. I already went back to the store to buy more.
Just a nice little tint to this moisturizer with spf 30 too. 5
Carol from Syracuse, NY
I use this every morning on my face and maybe add a little blush. That's all I need.
Great coverage 5
Tina from Austin
Love the light coverage this provides. Provides just enough coverage to achieve that flawless skin look, without feeling heavy.
