Most Helpful Positive Review don't be naive, just simply do your research 1. if you use splat, dismiss yourself. you basically applied favric dye to your hair so dont expect to remove it with something like this.
2.THE WEBSITE STATES THAT THIS PRODUCT CONTAINS BLEACH BUT IT IS NOT ITSELF JUST A LIGHTENER DONT "jUsT bUy bLeAcH" INSTEAD!!
3. how your hair reacts to a product is at no fault of the brand or company. thats just the reality of hair.
4. saturate properly, buy enough product, i recommend foiling, dont listen to people saying you have to quickly put this on and wash it out. if your hair is in good shape, dont rush, process following the recommended time for your color, & time it from when you finish your last strand.
5. understand that this product is formulated to work with their hair dye products, it can work for stripping other brands colors, but if it doesnt give you the results you wanted, it just isn't formulated to do so or your hair didnt react well with it.
6. if you're someone who dyes color on top of color, dear god go to a professional and stop dying color on top of color. black hair dye doesnt just fix your disaster mistakes from attempting blue hair and getting green at the end.
7. for the love of god listen to the recommendations and DO NOT APPLY TO VIRGIN HAIR OR YOUR SCALP!!!!!!
8. TEST A STRAND BEFORE FULL APPLICATION, TEST A STRAND BEFORE FULL APPLICATION TEST A STRAND BEFORE FULL APPLICATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
9. you might think your hair is "healthy" and then this product "melts" your hair, when in reality your pantene shampoo and conditioner probably played a roll in it as well. know what you're putting into your hair and whether you have the hair type to withstand a product like this. because chances are, the same results could've came from another brand.
10. your years of at home box dying does not make you some type of professional & doesnt really make your opinion any more accurate or factual.
10. this can dry ur hair, be ready to more hair care treatments full of moisture if that happens (deep condition)
Most Helpful Critical Review Does its job, but use with caution! I picked this up to undo a couple failed attempts to tone my own hair. I had a demi-permanent ash blonde with lilac color gloss that had faded out unevenly, and subsequent attempts to tone the blonde had left me patchy at best. After wasting a jar of Unicorn Hair, I decided to start from scratch.
I have bleached my hair at home before, and know how my hair takes bleach. The kit is only bleach-free if you don't use the developer-- the activator may be 'bleach-free' but is def another harsh chemical. After a bit of extra research, I decided to combine the first two 'options' on the box: The full 2 oz of activator; 2 oz of distilled water; and 2 oz of the 20 vol developer. The water dilutes the 20 down to a 10.
The brush bristles were very stiff and not very wide, so I gave up and just applied with my gloved hands. I have some ombre'd growout that I didn't want to risk unevenly bleaching, so I feathered the application along my roots-- keeping this off your scalp is definitely a good idea. My hair doesn't lift very easily, so I left it process under a shower cap for about 45 minutes, checking it every 10-15 minutes.
When I rinsed her off, I skipped the included Intrabond mask in favor of a Mane Club 5-in-1 conditioner pouch. I had read how damaging the kit could be in other reviews and didn't want to take chances with my fine, dry hair. I have overbleached my hair before and the results are never pretty. Afterwards, my hair was indeed free of color -- and perhaps lifted just a step lighter -- with no harsh bands along my roots or patches of uneven color. However, my hair still felt like dry straw, and it wasn't until another round of Mane Club that it went back to a more normal texture.
If you're willing to take risks and do research -- and you know how your hair handles bleach -- it will do its job at a nice price point. The resulting blonde is lovely and even, especially for an at-home job, but I would not recommend it for drastic changes or unfaded color.

I had semi-permanent blue color on my blonde ends and I applied the color remover like the instructions said and it left streaky bleach lines and my hair is still blue.

I have thin long black hair. The last time I dyed it was 5 months ago but I thought I would use a color remover bc I wanted to go more chocolate brown. A friend of mine who used to do hair professionally bought this and applied it to my hair. We decided to switch it iut with a 10 volume bc we realized it is basically just bleach, but it comes with a 20 volume. Also, my hair is very healthy and I barely ever use heat on it.. BUT after 20 minutes, even though it wanted to be on there for 45, we decided to rinse out because it was very patchy and some of my hair had lifted MULTIPLE levels. Washing this out was a nighmare. CHUNKS of my hair was just falling out. And we didn't even have it on for a whole twenty minutes. So disappointed! I had to cut off all of my hair! 7 inches to make it look "not dead". There was no keeping any length. BUYER BEWARE. There are better bleaches out there or even color oops works better than this!
does what it says 4

So, for all the negative comments saying "it's bleach" it wrong and needs to do research. Lightner mixed with developer is going to lighten even your roots. if you use developer alone it will do this. just because it's lighting your hair doesn't mean it's bleach. I'm giving it 4 stars because it wasn't enough for my shoulder length hair what so ever and will have to re apply with more soon. other then that again. it does lighten hair.
it works good but... 3

SO. I'd like to say this did strip my hair colors! I had pink or blue a few months back I don't remember now then I kept putting black artic fox over it for school reasons it kept changing it to green and purple. so I used red box dye. this stuff lifted my hair so nicely. but the reason for 5 stars is that it definitely doesn't come with no where near enough to use and my hair is shoulder length!! so it's very patchy. but where I out it on it worked and super fast! people are having a fit saying this has bleach and it says it doesn't. I can't find where it says it doesn't or does for that matter I just know this didn't mix like or smell like for that matter any bleach I've ever used. did dry out my hair but is to be expected. I have super damaged hair and it isn't falling out as much as it would if I used bleach. will definitely buy again and recommend even for hair that your trying to bleach because this stuff is liquid gold just buy extra!
It's bleach! 3

I had pink for about 6 months and while most of it had faded, the base of my scalp was still hot pink and I was ready to get rid of it. I didn't realize that this is basically just bleach. It DOES pull the color out pretty easily, but just be careful with it. It lightened my dark brown roots to a brassy yellow that will tone beautifully.

Well it didn't remove any color whatsoever but at least my hair is fried! :)
This is a lightner! Do not use with developer 3

I used this to remove my vivids and yes it did the job, however it also lightened my pre-lightened hair. now none of the dark vivids look rich. Everything looks pastel on my hair. not happy at all. I feel this ruined my look.
STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU ARE A PROFESSIONAL 1
Izzy from Nah
It is just bleach, do not use! Look at a color where and pick a color that will over power what you are trying to remove. For example, Green hair is covered by reddish colors
I would buy this product and refer to others 5

Used this to remove flamingo pink from my hair!
It's just bleach 1
Kat from Omaha
I read the box all over before buying this, trying to make sure it wasn't bleach. Got home, mixed it, thought, "This looks like bleach…" but figured I didn't see the word "bleach" anywhere so maybe I was paranoid. Nope. It's just bleach sold at a ridiculous price because they "re-branded" it. My hair suffered greatly because of this.
THIS IS STRAIGHT BLEACH 1
jess from Alexandria, VA
This product completely bleached my daughter's hair. I wanted to remove the blue from her hair, and now it's half blue and half bleached. I used the correct ratio (1:1, for 30 minutes) to remove semi-permanent hair color, and it completely stripped her hair of all color. She naturally has dirty blonde hair, and it's now white/yellow. Nowhere on this package does it warn that this product can bleach your hair. It only contained enough dye to do the top 4 inches of her hair, so it looks completely absurd now. It either bleached her head or did nothing at all in other areas. I love Punky Colour's hair dyes, but this product is absolute trash. You should only use it if you're stripping color from already bleached hair.

I used black demi permanent hair color in my brown hair a few months ago. I wanted to take it out and bought this thinking it was another thing like color oops. BUT IT IS NOT!! It messed my hair up so bad I had patches of bright blond all over the place. No where does it state it contains bleach in it except in very small lettering on the back of the box. Do not buy unless wanting to bleach your hair as well.
HEAVY BLEACH BASE! WILL FRY YOUR HAIR! 1
Mars from Nürnberg
Headline says it all. Avoid this like the plague unless you have virgin hair or regrowth. But it will damage that some too! Stay away if you ask me. Stick with Coloroops or other removers like the Ion brand that are not bleach based and heavy.
Absolutely not! 1

This product does not state that it has bleach clearly.I read through it and there is no clear statement there is bleach. It needs to say it contains bleach very clearly on the box. my hair was brown and green i wanted to take out the green that way i look good because i have homecoming in 2 days. followed the instructions very clearly yet here i am after washing my hair with dry dead STILL GREEN MAY I ADD but also blonde red brown orange hair as well. This a terrible product that i will never use again. in instruction there is nothing saying itll bleach it jsut says it'll remove the dye. there is no need for my hair to be ramen noodles. i had natural curly hair that is poofy, soft, and brown. now my hair is dry, dead, wavy, and every color you could think of. idk how to fix it and i go to hoco in literally 2 days. This was even suggested to me by workers saying it works good. this is a terrible product that is now in my trash and that i will nevr buy again! MY HAIR IS TILL GREEN MAY I ADD!

not using again 2
han from denver, co
used this 2 times before, removed my arctic fox color perfectly. used it again today, same as always and i am left with half the color still in my hair (still arctic fox) and insane damage. i am aware it has bleach but when the product has one job and cant do that & damages more than other bleach brands; it's not worth it.
It can be magic, but keep this in mind…. 4

I had used, "Wella Color Charm Paints," in the shades Raspberry and Fuchsia for a little while on my tips as a fun summer thing to do for my hair, but then I kinda wanted to try a true orange color for the ends. I knew I had to remove the color, otherwise it would've created a reddish blood orange color with the preexisting pink. Literally within second of applying this product, it removed the pink like magic and took my entire pink section of my hair back to a very nice light golden blonde within 20-25 minutes. However, I don't LOVE how this makes your hair feel afterwards. It can definitely be a little harsh, but they do give you a restorative hair mask for upkeep and bonding. Final thoughts from me would be that if you're thinking of going to a different color right after this, you're better off waiting a bit after using this product. Overall I'm personally loving this product for what it does :)

I wasn't expecting bleach but I love it 5

I got this at the store associate's recommendation to remove my arctic fox pink. Prior to that I had dyed all over dark, then had some highlights in, box dyed all over caramel, more highlights, did blue. The blue wouldn't come out (had it professionally attempted to be removed twice) so I had a salon dye me red to neutralize the blue. Kept up the red with copper klenditioner, then went arctic fox orange, red after that, then dark pink. All I was trying to do was lift the pink so I could go copper again. The instant I applied this stuff the pink was gone. By the time I got it all over my hair I could tell I hadn't done my research because it was bleached. I was going to leave it on for 40 minutes but washed it out after 20. All of my hair including my virgin roots was lifted. It was patchy. I had a slight moment of fear and analysis paralysis of what to do to fix it. I was so close to all over blind that I didn't want to do a dark dye over it. I got another bleach kit and very carefully sectioned and applied on parts that were underdeveloped and fortunately for me I have a good blonde base now. It was totally my fault for not researching and knowing what I was putting on my hair. I was however, by the end of it all, thrilled that I found a product that removed all hair color on me. I have been to so many stylists who won't touch over colored hair, can't remove color or only want to lift hair in 5 sessions of highlights which ends up costing over 1k. My hair is long and with a few conditioning treatments has the same sleek and healthy texture it did prior. I will hands down use this again.
Damages hair but does the job 3
Edgy Mocha from Queens, New York
I only used the color activator and the mask not the developer to lighten my dark purple hair to fade to a pink. This product made my hair a lot lighter but it really damaged my hair even after using a lot of shampoo conditioner, leave in conditioner and two hair products. The next day this product still event after using a hair mask and leave in conditioner my hair felt extremely dry brittle and damaged. It also was not enough to cover my whole head. Luckily I just needed it to fade out my Ombre so I had just enough

I used this remover when I had never bleached my hair before. I had blonde hair and just put dye over it no problem. Other color removers ive used worked perfect for removing but I decided to try this one. That was a big mistake as it bleached my hair. Other removers do not, if you do not want bleached hair do not use this.
Great for an emergency 5
emothot from Iowa
I only recommend this for a hair color emergency that needs to be removed immediately, because this is bleach and will add some damage to your hair if it's already compromised to begin with. However, if you NEED the color out it's worth it!
Ma'am this is a bleach kit… 1

Got this to remove permanent color and it lightened it, but that's not what a remover does! Surprise bleach! Not what I wanted at all.
Worked great on stripping pink hair color! 4

I used this product on my son to remove his pink dye. He wants to go green, but first we needed to get all of the pink out. He had it professionally dyed and was using the Punky 3-1 Pinkalicious to keep up the color. I followed the steps for the permanent dye. I had to use a plastic spoon to really mix and combine the activator and developer. It took me about 40 minutes to apply the color off in thin sections to fully saturate his hair. I was careful not to get it on his scalp. He wore a conditioning cap for about 20 minutes after, when I rinsed because the pink was almost gone and hair was lightening. This product took almost all of the pink out and he is happy with the results.
