Prep lips first and you'll love this color!

The first thing I noticed about this lipstick is that the packaging itself is a sensory joy. A velvety soft tube with raised lettering that just feels good to hold. And while I'm not a huge fan of lipsticks, usually preferring a gloss with maybe a hint of color, I am really drawn to this shade. It ...goes on light and you can keep layering it for darker richer color. There's a subtle scent of something fresh and fruity in the lipstick itself but not so overly yummy that I'm tempted to lick it off. Even layered it didn't feel cloying to where I was in a hurry to get it off so my lips could 'breathe again' either. The only thing keeping this from all five stars is that it's not at all dry patch friendly and seems to skip over some spots or get color dense where it's a little drier. The remedy to this is to make sure your lips are treated, exfoliated and ready to go to make for a smooth palette. This is a one note lipstick and that note is color so don't expect it to hydrate or moisturize for you. It does feel like it at least provides a moisture barrier or a 'finish' to keep in what you have going on. I would advise doing a sugar scrub or lip mask treatment if your lips aren't a fresh base for it. That said, I do appreciate the labels marking it as environmentally friendly and such. Many people want to contribute more to ideals with their purchasing power. And it can certainly be worthwhile to need more steps in your routine. Really, multipurpose everything has lost a lot of its appeal since you often end up with a product that only does one or two things well but does the rest poorly. I think a lipstick that is singular for the purpose of color isn't a bad thing. I'll be keeping it with lip prep products as a reminder even.
